I don't like it - while it's well drawn, the composition is quite bad and it's very messy, even for an inherently messy style (one that I'm fond of).
And there's a mix of detailed painting and solid colour shape that looks quite bad.
Really great idea and drawings let down by a few bad choices
yeah especially the ivy on the bottom left ugh
you do it then, since you're good with poster shit
looking forward to see what you'll come up with :)
That's a dumb thing to say.
By your logic, you can't be criticizing anything without having to make it better yourself.

I actually... agree. It is a great, no, an AMAZING idea. But when I look at it, something is just off.
They better make a great one for Half Life, I would buy that faster than the speed of light.

Thats terrible thinking. Oh my new video game came in the mail, oh the disk is scratched. I could call someone and complain, but ive never packaged a disc before so i better not.

i don't have to do something myself to know when someone else doesn't do it well

i don't really have any original enough ideas for a portal 2 poster right now but if i have any i'll make one
Ya when you start to look at each individual piece within the drawing, you realize that nothing really fits together.
Unlike the Star Wars one, where there is a nice flow to it.

one of my favourite artists who takes this style and makes it their own is tyler stout
he blends everything together really well and has his own unique visual style that you can always pick out

Ya that looks awesome.
I think the trick is that you have to allow the viewer to envision
that there does exist a dimensional space where all of the contents of the image populate.
Otherwise, it just becomes a mess.
it depends. yeah, that definitely works
but sometimes you can pull it off without doing that
Oh yeah. This just made me remember how I found a Half Life 2 movie poster done in a 80's style and they even gave it a release date as if it were an actual movie being made.

I was just checking out other '70s posters,
you are right about the dimensional thing,
but I think just a hint of even abstract space is necessary.
he should have gone for a simpler one, maybe like this (maybe not simpler, but less content and more detail):

hot damn this guy has some crazy skills! I'd buy that poster for sure.
