I used Chromium for a month, didn't really like it. To be fair it was faster than firefox though.

I would like to point out the RedPill key is the same as Windows 7's BlueBadge keys. They won't remain there and will be removed as those are internally used keys.
However, there is a group policy to disable the start screen. That, I'm not sure if it'll remain or not.
Nobody knows if WIndows 8 will do well
yeah it's Windows, but it's also completely different from previous versions of Windows
Likely it will, The interface seems to cater to users wishing for a simple, easy to use interface. And eventually gamers will be pushed into it when WIN7 stops supporting the newest directX.
Hell, It looks about as simple as a mac..
However I cannot decide till I get my hands on it.

Metro is currently very poorly implemented, it feels like they've just slapped a separate OS over Windows.
But I guess you can let that slide since it's a pre-beta...
Also, what do you mean until you can get your hands on it? It's been available for weeks now...

The interface is targeted primarily towards tablet/touchscreen devices, I'm sure MS will fix that but the initial release was awkward to use with a normal PC.
And I think it'd take a while for Windows 7 to lose DirectX support, the only reason XP didn't get DX10 is because of the overhaul of the drivers (Vista got DX11 even though it was the previous version)
