b-b-bbuutt he's a gay fish and he's literally a sociopath narcissist!
not like he went from a starving artist raised by a single mom and then got into a nearly-fatal car crash that shattered his jaw, all the while making hundreds of beats a year, rapping through the jaw brace, and publishing his first album to stellar reviews.
not like the surgery that he paid for killed his mom, and then his long-time girlfriend left him, and then the VMA incident happened and the media ostracized him, all within the span of a year, and then his album received lukewarm to mixed reviews, and then he left the country out of frustration and depression and came back from Europe with one of the best albums of the decade in any genre.
nah, he's just so MEAN and he's just a big ugly asshole and I know this because I saw the VMA shit and south park and know nothing about kanye's character or how fame can seriously affect people :)
this song is better than anything the beatles ever made tbh
wow people haven't heard of a dated musician who isn't currently a big name who'd a thunk it
Dated?
I don't think you know a thing about music right now man. He had an album release just last year, made one of the songs for a movie and it was a hit. Then just recently you had his song which he recorded for the ending of Destiny.
McCartney isn't even remotely dated or irrelevant.
Dated?

I'm sorry but I haven't seen Paul be properly relevant in a while now.
wow people haven't heard of a dated musician who isn't currently a big name who'd a thunk it
Dated musician? I dunno, given how incredibly influential the Beatles were I kind of equate not knowing who Paul McCartney is to not knowing who Beethoven or Elvis were.
I'm sorry but I haven't seen Paul be properly relevant in a while now.
He had a new album release just last year that was well received, made music for a movie, and just recently made the ending track for a game you probably never heard of called Destiny.
for a game you probably never heard of called Destiny.
What are you even getting at.
What are you even getting at.
that mccartney is far from irrelevant or dated, is still very active in the music world and that its just a bunch of idiots who have no idea who he is.
pretty much what i'm getting at is your post is wrong.

You can't really call someone an idiot, especially if they're a part of a younger generation, because they haven't heard of a musician that currently isn't in the public eye compared to the 60's.

and im saying you can because McCartney is in the public eye and is a household name. It was said above, not knowing who McCartney is, is like not really knowing who Beethoven is.
The world still loves him and whenever he does a new tour or announces a show people explode in excitement and it goes all over the news.
It's pretty much a niche thing that kanye fans have no idea who this dude is because even 10 year olds could tell you who he is.

Do you just assume everyone is born into some perfect family that pass down their old music to their children or something? Awfully broad statement considering not everyone listens to music or if did so doesn't pass that shit on to their children in hopes they'll be like them rather than forming their own taste in music.

This is Paul McCartney, even if you don't listen to music you know who the hell he is because of his work with others like the beatles and the wings really changed the music world. McCartney is a literal household name and garners mass attention in anything he does. Even deaf people can tell you who this man is. If you're not a music person McCartney still is all over the place with his work. Like how he played at the winter Olympics.
I would be completely and utterly impressed if you have no idea who McCartney is because thats a very hard thing to accomplish given how he's everywhere and has such a massive following.

"Everywhere" I don't know where you tune in but his presense is hardly everywhere. I think you're a little obsessed.

Most people who listen to lots of music would easily know who Paul is, but if you're a casual listener who doesn't listen to a whole lot except top 40's and maybe a few rappers you like, it'd be incredibly easy to pass his name up. Most people don't dig 40 years in the past for music. Seriously, don't assume that everyone's had the same upbringing you've had - plenty of people's parents didn't listen to the beatles that much, so they'd never pass it on to their kids. Even if they did, they might not know the name of every member - so what?
They're not stupid for not knowing an artist from that long ago - they just don't listen to that genre/time period of music.
Besides, those people are pretty obviously fucking around and joking. Most people know who Paul is.

McCartney's New album in 2013 sold 67,000 first week. Yeezus sold 327,000 first week with essentially zero promotion, and it's BY FAR Kanye's worst-selling album. Kanye is way, way more relevant than McCartney in the current playing field of music.
I like McCartney and I love the Beatles, but you're dead wrong in measuring his level of popularity. The Beatles were insanely popular - McCartney is decently popular.

Yes but my whole point is that the original post luxuria made:
wow people haven't heard of a dated musician who isn't currently a big name who'd a thunk it
is wrong, his name is still pretty big, not as big as kanye yeah sure but still a globally recognized name who still sells a rather large amount of music. He's neither dated nor a small name. He's just not AS POPULAR as Kanye.

Kanye has 3 more Grammy's than McCartney.
I'm really not seeing your point. Yes, he's talented. Yes, he's popular. Is he relevant in modern music? Not really. It's fucking awesome that Kanye and McCartney teamed up for this - I don't see why you're so insistent that McCartney is more popular.

Plenty of other people who are big names, if not bigger, have been on those as well. This doesn't change the fact of anything else, expecting everyone to know of him is unrealitic.

my point is that he still has a strong presence to the world and is still very popular. He's appeared on very popular programs even recently so even if you don't listen to music you'll still see him.

It's not as unbelievable as you seem to think it is that someone might not know Paul McCartney. The Beatles, yeah, everyone knows that name, but an individual member of a genre they might not listen to from a band that broke up decades ago? Probably not. You've probably never heard of Jelly Roll Morton or Jack Teagarden even though they were big names in the 20's - because you probably don't listen to a lot of Jazz music from decades ago.
Seriously, it's not that weird. People under 20 who don't listen to older music could easily pass over the name Paul McCartney - even then, it's really really obvious they're joking.

i never at any point hinted, stated, implied, or suggest Paul was more popular than Kanye.
I'm not insisting he's more popular, i'm insisting that he's not dated, or irrelevant.

People on Dancing with the Stars signing their name on shit like Glee or Rock Band are the definition of dated and irrelevant. Relevant musicians sell well and influence the direction that music takes - McCartney hasn't done that in over 40 years.
Relevant musicians sell well.
So are we just ignoring that every live show he does sells out in seconds and that his latest album New actually sold exceptionally well across the world and held top spots on major charts across the world?
Seriously, i'm honestly not much of a McCartney fan and i know this just as common knowledge from seeing it on tv, in the news, in the paper ect ect.
Dude isn't relevant he just sells out concerts cos people wanna pretend that they saw the Beatles he's just riding off the fame he got 50 years ago lol
