[del]Shut the hell[/del] Please stop arguing, I don't want to see a massive ban wave. Even though it's disappointing that Apple is locking down their devices, that's what you should be talking about other than arguing OMG ANDROID11
I don't see the problem here; we're discussing rival products to the item at hand, while also discussing the booting mechanism as a somewhat high-priority topic.
I'm so sorry.
So sorry for telling you, who always seems to be shitting on anything that they heard something bad about without prior use of more than maybe 2 weeks, that people actually form their own opinions eventually.
All I'm saying is that Nexus 4 is not the best phone out there, while Daniel M just keeps claiming that it's literally Jesus.
I guess the term "give up" means "stubbornly run into a brick wall head-first" to you?
I'm not the one calling a device infinitely better because of a subjective reason.

do you even understand what subjective means?!
You don't have to take his opinion as fact. I'm fucking tired of people complaining when others don't slap 'in mah onion' at the end
[editline]5th December 2012[/editline]
Keep in mind that arguing an opinion is equally as valid as not arguing one, but this is just dumb
[editline]5th December 2012[/editline]
It's also different when you literally try to force your opinion as objective in an awful manner, at that
For christ's sake look at the damn pricetag.
Its not going to be completely perfect, and with a pixel density like that I think I can overlook the image not being quite as vivid as another device.
I bet somebody will have a kernel out to diminish the easily overlook-able problem anyway.
I don't think they can put out a kernel, if they could, somebody would've done so for the N7, which has that too (I own one, and the screen on mine is dull as fuck)
I honestly haven't had any problems on iOS 6 with my iPhone 5. I don't know if it's any different for other devices though.
Well, maps is still useless, but I wouldn't use it even if it did work decently.
The problems I`ve read about are more with the 3GS, 4, and 4S. I have friends with all those (mine is a 4) and we`ve all had similiar issues :S. Bottom line is iOS 6 has been a huge let down, and now that it`s the most locked down it`s not even like the choice is there to jailbreak.
I long for the day when the people that always post in these types of threads would stop pissing themselves over a goddamned smartphone
There's no best phone, different phones cater to different people, same goes with whether people want an Android phone or an iPhone. I tried Android devices out and I didn't like them compared to the iPhone, but I'd hardly say the iPhone is better. I'm pretty sure the iPhone 5 will be jailbroken, could be a while, but it will happen, and anyone on the iPhone 4S or earlier should've waited for a jailbreak to be released before updating to iOS 6
I'm not the one calling a device infinitely better because of a subjective reason.
Ironic.
There are no Kernels with Voodoo Colours available?
Because it knocked the colour temperature and brightness on my Nexus S up a ton.
I never found one. Though that might be because I'm just bad at using that XDA site.

For the money people put out for a smartphone (100's plus a phone plan) and the importance they can play in daily life... At this point, why shouldn't it elicit discussion? You want a phone that works and does what you want it to do.
let's take the piss outta Google for not paying taxes while we're here shall we?..

Sure, that's your money;your decision.
But what are you achieving by complaining over pointless shit that barely even effects you
[editline]5th December 2012[/editline]
"My phone is the best ever even though it can't make phone calls"
"Uh.. I'm pretty sure it's not the best, a good phone should make phone calls"
"Well I don't use phone calls so your opinion is invalid"
Your comment is a total oxymoron, I'm convinced you don't even know what subjective means
It isn't the opinion I hear a lot so it must be wrong!

He's trying to pass his opinions as facts. He did it with the last thread about Apple.
I guess I should've provided context for this all, though.
Those are some pretty strong opinions, then.
An opinion is an opinion, you big baby.
if you have a problem with it, argue against it.
[SUB][SUB]practically saying you don't have the right to state an opinion if it's absurd is fucking awful btw[/SUB][/SUB]

Okay?
I think he's stupid too. What makes you think I instantly gang up with anyone that uses an android phone.
This turned into a pointless and un-winnable argument right on schedule
Looks like Apple finally achieved what they've been after all along, total control over their own software. For good or ill, it's part of the TOS so they have a reasonable right to lock down the os like a supermax. Don't like it, buy something different! Can't help but feel like all these people that are disappointed at a lack of a jailbreak for iOS6 might have bought their devices for superficial reasons.
I never found one. Though that might be because I'm just bad at using that XDA site.
XDA IS one huge clusterfuck, I'll give you that.
let's take the piss outta Google for not paying taxes while we're here shall we?..
It's almost a "cool cats club" for multinational corps to avoid paying taxes in so many countries as possible.

He's trying to say that the Nexus 4 is the best thing ever and also insults iPhones users, I try to say that Nexus 4 is not the best thing ever. We both provide pretty subjective reasons.
I don't really have a problem with him thinking that his phone is the best, but I'm pretty pissed about the form he posted his opinion in.
Its probably not your fault, XDA is a shitstain, and a forum is a horrible format for software dev projects and support.
I have such a hard time trying to find decent roms for my phone on XDA Samsung cut support for my phone. Forums are basically the worst thing to be distributing ROMs on.

I don't think you're in any position to complain about that.
Your opening post was incredibly childish.
[editline]5th December 2012[/editline]
Also why do you give a fuck if he insults iPhone users? This is what I mean by 'you big baby'
Also, I don't have a single problem with arguing an opinion with subjective reasons, but it's different when you try to present something as factual with subjective reasons; like you did in your opening post.
The iPhone 5 is an exceptional device that will please anyone who buys it
The nexus 4 is an exceptional device that will please anyone who buys it
This thread is oozing with first world problems
I have such a hard time trying to find decent roms for my phone on XDA Samsung cut support for my phone. Forums are basically the worst thing to be distributing ROMs on.
The maintainers of XDA certainly didn't do much to lessen the frustration linked to easily finding ROMs
I usually stick to branches of Cyanogenmod purely because of that.
Those who own the iPhone 5 and other devices with iOS 6 are thinking about just one thing and that is when developers are going to come out with an untethered jailbreak.
why would you buy a phone then want shifty-ass third party software to customize it? Those people should be buying droids.
why would you buy a phone then want shifty-ass third party software to customize it? Those people should be buying droids.
I could understand if they upgraded to / bought a device with iOS 6 IF there already was a surefire jailbreak method out.
BUT buying one and hoping for it to happen is beyond retarded.
why would you buy a phone then want shifty-ass third party software to customize it? Those people should be buying droids.
The hardware is good. The software is bad.
Good hardware + Good software = ???
IOS ftw
JunOS is better.
Wow, android vs IOS flame war started at just post 2
I think facepunch has set a new record.
Each device has their ups and downs, they cater to different types of people.
I personally prefer an iDevice as it's secure, stable and barely ever complains/crashes.
Sure, that's your money;your decision.
...Uh, but this does affect me. Unless your talking about Daniel M, in which case I agree with you.
Still, to get back on topic:
Hopefully a jailbreak will be found soon. I know POsninja was looking into a boot dump or something, and if that was achieved it would make jailbreaking easier for all devices for quite some time. That way at least people get the option, right?
EDIT:
Derp, it talks about POsninja right in the article. I was talking from before as I've been following the jailbreak scene off and on and this isn't really new.
I don't have a problem with opinions but saying the camera and screen is shit is ridiculous. I have the Lumia and I have a Galaxy Note and a Droid RAZR and the Nexus 4 has the best screen. The camera could do slightly better but it is more than sufficient for a camera on a $300 phone.
Would I have liked to have expandable storage? Yes but now I'm not hoarding music and pictures on my phone. Would I have liked a slightly better camera? Sure. I haven't experienced overheating except when I ran some crazy benchmark. I mean if you're using benchmarks on a daily basis, go right ahead and use that as a con but I have yet to experience that and I've overclocked my phone to 1.7Ghz and I've been playing games on it and it runs just fine and its no hotter than any other phone under stress, I would actually say that it runs quite cool compared to some other devices.
Also, iOS is not smoother. I guess that's subjective but mine runs at a constant 60FPS on the home screen and when I launch an app, it doesn't slow down. Just don't say I'm wrong when I'm the one with the fucking thing in my hands.
You're reading it off of a review site that got prototype copies of the Nexus 4 before the update was released fixing many issues. I heard some complaints about the first batch but those have all been fixed and keep in mind 1% (I'm being generous here) of users had these defective units.
I'd bet $20 that the Lumia has the better screen, since I've used it in person and if you look through my post history and ask people in the Android thread you'll know I can tell when a screen is good or not. Plus, Nokia has a track record of getting suppliers to calibrate displays. The Lumia 900 and Galaxy S II have the same Samsung 800x480 SAMOLED+ display but the Lumia looks significantly better, because it has better calibration for screen temperature and brightness. Going back to the 920, I'd expect the same and it looks that way in use. I don't have a Nexus 4, but according to Anandtech's stellar information it's a panel with no sign of any calibration effort whatsoever.
