iPhone 5 no where close to bein jail broken: jailbreak devs lament on Twitter

when a jailbreak comes out only then will the 5 be worth buying
I'd bet $20 that the Lumia has the better screen, since I've used it in person and if you look through my post history and ask people in the Android thread you'll know I can tell when a screen is good or not. Plus, Nokia has a track record of getting suppliers to calibrate displays. The Lumia 900 and Galaxy S II have the same Samsung 800x480 SAMOLED+ display but the Lumia looks significantly better, because it has better calibration for screen temperature and brightness. Going back to the 920, I'd expect the same and it looks that way in use. I don't have a Nexus 4, but according to Anandtech's stellar information it's a panel with no sign of any calibration effort whatsoever.
Yet if you listen to The Verge, they say that it's the best looking Android phone on the market because it looks like they actually had someone calibrate it as best they could. They did say that Google needs to hire someone who knows their shit about that but it's "good enough for now"
Apple : Making sure you can't do what you want with the phone you bought

The Verge doesn't know what they're talking about regarding displays. If they didn't post measurements their word is meaningless. Here's a nugget of brilliance from their writers.
Despite no longer employing the standard Pentile RGBG subpixel arrangement, the Note II still doesn’t have three identically sized subpixels per dot — it’s now just swapped the extra green for extra blue, so in functional terms, this can be considered a sort of Pentile lite.
Sorry but they're idiots. Here's the sRGB chart for the Nexus 4.

The white squares are where it should be. Please post some form of evidence if you choose to refute this.
So, Apple fans, how does it feel to know that Apple has won the war against you?
The hardware is good. The software is bad.
Good hardware + Good software = ???
But according to the facepunch android defense squad the iphone 5 has the processing capacity of an atari 5200???

And the iPhone 5 is similarly off from perfect

I hope that pic isn't too big
No it isn't similarly off at all, it's a hell of a lot closer than anything else. Here's the most in depth info you'll get. I'd love to give a Displaymate review for the N4, but they don't really even bother with Nexus devices since they're never calibrated right.

EDIT:Hey Meppers. I figured out why your graph looks wrong. Because you took the measurements for the iPhone 4 and said it was the 5.
Article.

Look BELOW where you grabbed your chart from.
Well, fuck... this is the last thing I wanted to hear today...
The OP doesn't specify it, but I'm going to assume that the whole 'minimal progress with the jailbreak' bit applies to the iPad 2 as well as iPhones. Seeing as how I managed to botch a firmware upgrade a while back, I was pretty much forced to update my iPad to iOS 6, and the fact that there's not really any hope of a new jailbreak in the near future is pretty disheartening.
(Also, I'm just repeating previous posts, but all of you arguing are just plain silly)
the ihpone 5 has a bigger number so its probabl y better

FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS LOL
So we shouldn't discuss technology online because children are starving in Africa? I'm really getting tired of that shit.
And I've never understood the obsession with locking things down harder than Fort Knox, better to keep it open, but hide the sensitive bits away from the average Joe/Jane and their tendency to make even a egg timer or clock-radio lock-up.
I used to think like this, but over the years I think some lock down is good, for quality control reasons
I honestly wanted to buy an iPhone for my next phone. Currently have a HTC Wildfire S (Sucks but that's because it's old and buggy)
I've always been that guy who "goes against the grain"
It'd be kinda nice telling a friend "hey, facetime me" instead of asking for a workaround using skype. Just going with the freaking flow once in a while.
I just wish everything was compatible with everything and nobody judged each other by the choice of their phone :(

You're going to be judged because you're buying a inferior product for more money.
Don't some people post bounties and such for jailbreaks on new versions of iOS?
I figure they'll get it eventually - the platform has enough dedicated users that people will continue trying to break it no matter what.

Please go dispose of $650 into the nearest active volcano.
You might as well if you're going to buy an iPhone.

It's like we didn't just have a second thread arguing about this end in people generally accepting that people should just use what they like and there isn't a single best smartphone, and they all have their subjective (sorry flubber :c) pros and cons.

One problem bucko, I own and use a Desire Z.
You're a downright retarded consumerist fanboy who can't admit even the smallest flaw.
You're even worse than the average macrumors.com moron, and that's QUITE the achievement since they're downright blinded by the "OHHH SHINNYY" while completely ignoring the flaws or alternatives.
Not saying I like iOS or WP8, since I frankly dislike them, But you're coming off as Richard Stallman when it comes to arguing.
I tried Android with a phone for a year, didn't like it, laggy and it was a small pocket phone, but when I used others I couldn't get the ring to it
iOS was alrightish I guess, had a lot of apps but jailbreaking it was the only way to get complete hapiness
Windows Phone was just, a breath of fresh air, may not have a lot of apps but the performance blew Android out of the water, iOS... not so much
why do we argue about this shit anyway

Have you even used an iPhone?
Personally, i use android as i find it much better for what i do.
Sure iPhones are overpriced and are very similar to the previous one, but android also has its flaws

Implying there is anything wrong with Richard Stallman. Although I do find him to be a bit extreme in his "open ideas" I do agree with a lot of what he says.
When i saw that this thread had 3 pages of posts i could already sense some iOS vs Android war over here :v:
To bad about the jailbreaking, still got my iPhone 4 with iOS 5 but thanks to jailbreaking i can use all the iOS 6 features on my iOS 5 iPhone, genius!
