so ruin the game for other players because the publishers are being shitheads
ok
Actually, any kind of game modding is technically illegal, it's just that most companies don't care.
this is so false that it's not even funny
I don't even know how to back this up, this should just be common knowledge at this point. Hell, Nintendo tried to ban cheating in their games and failed.
You can be sued for, of course, lets say, selling it as your own thing without the companies consent or creating a way to play online with a pirated copy.
This is why I will not be caught dead buying a fucking shark card.
So, They can get rockstar for harassment? Right Or will they send Carl Johnson down there to keep them quite?
Rockstar isn't the one doing this
it's in the title that it's the publisher
Rockstar is a videogame developer. Take-Two is the publisher that owns them and hundreds of other studios.
Oh, okay.
So, I'm not buying any more Take-Two games, including Rockstar games.
Satisfied?
May as well just delete GTA 5 off my computer at this rate.

much better
Part of me wishes people would get angry enough to start making a big-enough ruckus about this shit. Shit like telling people about how fucking shit GTA online is, how much of a complete grindfest it is, and why you shouldn't encourage it by buying a shark card.
I'm just surprised about the lack of communication from the developers themselves.. I recall R* being really cool with modders/modding so long as they weren't hacks/cheats for GTA:O.
T2 has a huge list of games that they publish- which I wont be able to avoid sadly. Like up coming Mafia and XCOM ; pretty much lots of other games from 2K :/
Damn..
yeaaah you will
Off of G2A for no less than half off, yeah.
[editline]a[/editline]
Same with the rest of T2's upcoming games, honestly.

They're probably not allowed to talk about it now since Take Two probably has them by the balls for openly condoning modding for GTA:O or something like that.

man, people really can't read even the title alone of the thread
they blame rockstar so clearly they know they made the game
but are people not literate enough to read the first two words
if someone came to my door because I was making a mod I would tell them to bite my ass.
It's like you can't even promote fan-works or mods anymore on the internet. Basically the only way to do anything is to develop it in total anonymity and secret. Then just release it on the internet under no name when it's finally finished.
Really goes to show us again how much videogame companies give 0 flying shits about you, the fans, or anything that allows freedom to the user.

T2 probably told Rockstar to shut the fuck up because they were being too lenient, and even supportive. T2 doesn't want leniency or support, they want to kill modding because they're a greedy faceless corporation.
Everyone is telling him to go on developing FiveM and that he can't be stopped but he had a similar situation with Activision on COD4.
NTAuthority created a stand alone COD4 multiplayer with dedicated/private servers and he was taken to court and the ultimate outcome was that he had to sign a C&D that forbid him modding all past/future Activision/Call of Duty titles.
If this goes to court, the moment he steps in the court room he will be given a temporary injunction while the court case is active. Who knows what the outcome will be but if Activision won when he basically created FiveM for COD what's stopping Take2 from winning?
Losing one project to keep all the others is better than losing them all trying to keep one.

That's why I said "technically". It is against the ToS of pretty much any game, but then I guess whether the ToS is even legally enticing is a whole other thing.
More needs to be done to fight back against T2. Boycotting won't do anything, it's not Rockstar's fault but the handling of this situation is so poor and surely there must be some people at T2 who can see modding is a benefit to games in the long run. I was personally looking forward to FiveM and GTA-MP, I understand why they don't want the alternative multiplayer.

This was IW4 (CoD6/MW2) though.
This makes me really sad. Everytime i play GTA:O on pc. Hackers everywhere.
This pretty much feels like a second blow to the gut. FiveM had reached alpha stage in development and even had a wiki.
Instead of threatening modders T2 could just spend more money on proper anti-cheat system and code cleanup for GTAO. FiveM won't be completely necessary, GTAO will be fine again, everyone's happy. But of course that won't happen because T2 are greedy pieces of shit who think they can do anything because they've earned billions from GTA V alone.
But any future Rockstar game will be published by those fucks and most of the profits will go to them.
How would this make FiveM any less "necessary"? FiveM isn't meant to be GTAO with an AC system and 'code cleanup', it's supposed to be what MTA and SA:MP are for GTA:SA. In theory there could be a server with a gamemode similar to GTA:O, but it's still pretty much like comparing Trouble in Terrorist Town to Garry's Mod. TTT being GTA:O.

IIRC Rockstar themselves actually helped some of these alternative MP modders out, but then take-two stuffed their nose in it.
