This is so fucking stupid. Foxconn is nothing compared to other workplaces in China. [editline]01:49AM[/editline]
Foxconn's suicide rate is below average
THIS Really, I'm willing to bet there are Japanese companies with MUCH higher averages than that.
You know your human rights are bad when China tell you to improve them..
Never had a ipod?
No.

Not sure if the cases will go anywhere. The investigators are sure to get outfoxed.
Nintendo has a heart <3
Everything I wear, play and watch is made from the tears of people! :saddowns:
It's quite a big scandal here in Germany as they are also manufacturing Nokia, Apple and many others.
They manufacture most consumer electronics in use. Its been quite annoying to read (mainly the mass media / non tech orientated) the media repeatedly blaming Apple and suggesting that Apple run the factories, without even acknowledging that many other companies use Foxconn.
I read that Foxconn provides decent financial support to the families of workers who commit suicide. That explained a lot to me. I wouldn't be surprised if people did it for their families (in combination with poor quality of life) Also: Foxconn's suicide rate is below average
I was just about to go on about the company being cruel to workers, thanks for posting that before, so I didn't end up looking like a twat. It's actually rather interesting they're well below the Chinese average.
I think I read the same article, apparently their family's get the equivalent of 10 years pay. I guess if someone was contemplating it, and they were in debt that might just push them over the edge (Well, cause them to jump as the case may be).
