I love it how Christian Extremists misinterpret the bible
i like how they didn't, the bible does say that gay people should be put to death along with shitloads of other awful stuff like that.
It also promotes fucking animals rather than having a wank.
they were only human bravehat sheesh...
Har har
But really theres a passage that goes something like your seed is better in the belly of a beast than on the floor.
This is silly, I believe in what the bible says, and from my interpretation we should love everyone no matter what. Do I personally believe in gay marriage? No, but I will not go riding in the streets about it, and I will treat gays with the utmost respect as if they were anyone else. Because we are all created equal :)
heh. not surprising really it was a book written thousands of years ago for a far more simple mindset than what we have nowadays. that people still think it has any relevance in this day and age is just ridiculous.

How can you not believe in gay marriage?
Marriage is not a christian tradition, it was stole from the religions before it.

i like that. we were all created equal but some of us aren't allowed to get married :)
"All animals are created equal, but some are more equal than others."
God was invented when people coudn't explain things, why does it rain, why do some people die (deceases), the sun.
I still remember the history lesson how people tought the world was flat because if it got warmer (closer to the equator), they tought, you're approaching the edge of the Earth and fall into hell.
This just disgusts me, I may be catholic but I have a few distant relatives who are gay, so why should I treat them like dirt just because god says so?

They tried to explain the things around them with what was the most suited from their point of view. That's not silly.
1. I deride them at every opportunity at least, having imaginary friends is something to be mocked over the age of 10.
See, uh, thats all fine and dandy on Facepunch, but having such discrimination against religious people will make your life very difficult in the real world.
I don't think you understand the situation you're getting yourselves into. See, atheists are still a small minority on Earth, and mocking the vast majority of your planet is not a wise decision.
You might as well start with race and gender discrimination while you're at it, since many people are going to hate all of you in the future.
Here let me explain:
1. You won't hold down a job if you're constantly mocking your boss and co-workers.
2. You'll never be accredited with anything, since all you're doing is spewing hate from your mouth like a child who can't get along with the other kids.
3. Your chances of being a politician are going to be very slim, considering that the majority of Americans are Christian, and to berate Christians in public would be like saying "Hey there, vote for the other guy!" Your only hope would be the Republican Party, since they are tolerant of intolerance.
4. If you plan on becoming a doctor or lawyer, I can assure you that you won't have many patients, or clients when you take every opportunity to mock religious people.
5. You'll likely be lonely for a long time. Once again, atheists are still a minority, meaning that finding someone who doesn't mind you being a prick and mocking over half the human populace is quite slim at the moment.
Just spelling out the facts here for you. Feel free to ignore them and rate me dumbs.

That is the root of religion, brothers.
We had a bunch of stuff lying around and we needed a way to
a. explain that stuff
b. organize people
c. lay down some laws, divine laws are better than just laws made by some guy so claiming divinity is useful
wait so now paul trumps jesus
Paul was one of his disciples. The symbolism of Jesus's death was that through his crucifixion, he took the fall for humanity's fuck-ups.

when jesus says "yeah these laws still apply" paul can say "nope they dont"
and what does taking the fall for humanity's fuckups have to do with buying slaves and stoning children
My brother is an atheist because a good amount of kids in his school are. I'm pretty sure that means he's doing it because it's "cool".
If he's doing it because he thinks it's cool, then he's not really an atheist.
It was a parody - I didn't mean it was literally impossible to deny God, as if your mouth will seal itself shut before you utter the words.
Why does God have to be composed of energy of some form.
Are you beginning to understand how retarded you are by trying to put limits on something which is limitless by definition?
But God is limitless. God would not need be bound by our logic - why would he be, when he, BY DEFINITION, is limitless? Of course it's a difficult point to comprehend, but the Lord is hardly a simplistic entity, or even idea.
You don't get it do you. There is no proof fro god and making him more powerful only makes the chances of him existing smaller. Also a god would have to work on some level of physics even if it were not ares or else he would have nothing to hold his self on and he would simply stop existing. If he is able to mess with are universe it means that he can also be messed by it and all that junk.

Look, one of the teachings of the Old Testament was how the punishment for sin was death. An eternity of damnation. Well, in the New Testament, this point was then made null and void through the crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth.
I remember Sgt. Doom quoting a verse from Matthew:
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them."
Fulfill, as in to satisfy the law through the sacrifice of himself. Anyone remember how they used to have burnt offerings every so often in the OT to cleanse themselves? There you go. Ultimate sacrifice = Ultimate cleanliness.
Here, let me spell it out for you with a famous verse:
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, so that whoever believes in Him shall not parish, but have everlasting life."
Doesn't say "so that whoever is a good person and follows this explicit list of laws right down to the letter in perfect execution", it says "so that whoever believes in Him".
The only reason conservative Christians say shit like "you'll go to hell" is so they can manipulate people.
Since.. You know.. That's what conservatives do...
(I apologize for throwing the 316 up there, but it basically sums up a big part of the religion)
Call me stubborn, but I'm still not understanding how people can confidently call (G)od a "he".
Because males are the rulers of religion. I dont know what a god would need with reproductive organs but whatever.

practically all theologians disagree with that sentiment. that's the reason why most proper KJV bibles still contain the old testament
Matthew 5:17-20 New International Version
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
There's a reason I posted the whole thing rather than a snippet.
2 Peter 19-21, New International Version
We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, persecutions, sufferings—what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. The first bold was emphasizing how the laws are still there, yet any of the laws broken are forgiven.
The second bold was to prove a point, that no man is truly without sin. Once again, this is before the crucifixion, meaning that the punishment will still be given until forgiveness, which would make sense.

That doesn't really have any relation to heaven or hell, simply that it does well for teaching the message of the Bible. If it does, elaborate.
Here, I worded my statement wrong. This is more what I was leaning to:
The point of the NT was to show that, while laws still apply, you will be forgiven by the almighty. Like I said, sacrifices were a way of being given forgiveness. So, when the perfect and ultimate sacrifice was made, ultimate forgiveness was given.
