I bet Spore could compete to best games ever(like HL) if EA didn't fuck with it.
I wonder how many people actually know what this means?
Because the thread seems to now be bash EA even if its completely unrelated bullshit.
Welcome to the internet. It's been this way for a while.
At any rate, I don't think this is major news. Sucks to be EA if you're looking for someone to invest, but I doubt it's going to affect consumers too much.

Wasn't only EA. Maxis was pretty split with Will and others wanting something (relatively) very science-y and the other side wanting dumb shit like big googly eyes and other idiocies. One of the fucking idiots even went off to say something like "We thought "What if they wore sneakers?" and everyone loved the idea". Then EA saw more profit in the idiotic setting and went with that. Had those fucking assholes wanting stupid kiddy shit just been hit by a car it wouldn't have happened.
But, you know, gabe worked at Microsoft before he thought of steam. Which of course didn't come about until after valve had established itself, but yeah you probably never knew that
I did.

I hope you realize how much this post makes you sound like an insensitive asshole. Wishing people would die because you didn't get the video game you wanted. Spore wasn't a bad game. It wasn't the game we saw in the GDC demo either. But honestly doesn't it seem a little childish to wish they'd been hit by a car so you would've gotten your game? Despite the changes that happened during development, Maxis and EA are companies and it's in their best interest to make a game that appeals to a larger audience.
I was almost recovered from cnc4 and then I saw this article.
Generals 2 (even though its not called that now) better be at least bearable or I'll cry for months.
Hohohohoho
Free2play, DLC announced on beforehand, FPS engine in an RTS game, no singleplayer, will probably involve a lot of exclusive exclusivity limited dayone exclusive in-game t-shirts
If that doesn't rustle your grass I don't know what will
This is pretty much the best christmas present.

It's not surprising at all considering what EA has done to the past companies and original IPs.

Just look at what the Sims have become
Really would've liked a Neverwinter Nights 2 in the same style as the first one.

Not sure if you were trying to make this sound like a good thing or not.

I definitely do, stopped caring a while ago hough. Also sure they look after their interests, not saying they shouldn't, but that won't stop me from hating them.
As for Spore, it was decent, but also a perfect example of why one should never get taken by hype.

What I was kind of trying to point toward was the new SimCity game coming out in 2013 (Altough it wasn't really shown in my post). I imagine if Spore hadn't been a success then Sims 3 would've probably been cancelled during development and SimCity as a result of that.
You have to remember Spore was the first major game Maxis had released in 4 years since Sims 2.
Luckily it was successful and that allowed them to finish development on Sims 3 and start work on the GlassBox engine/SimCity.
It's a shame that Spore became something that Maxis doesn't want to be involved or associated with ever again after EA interfered with it's development.
Here's hoping for Simlife II

I used to be so excited for Dungeon Keeper 3.
System Shocks 2 Coop essentially made the game a lot worse as stated by Ken Levine because it took to much time away from the important shit, like not being coop.
I thought SS2's coop was fun as hell.

Nggh, Mythic Entertain was my hero. MageStorm and that. They also helped out with Aliens Online. :O
Justice, at last. Sure, some might say it's a tragedy that their inevitable death would bring down their acquired developers like a sharktopus of silver and faeces bringing down the cruise liners it has latched onto, but to be honest they were probably dead already, and what we see them do now is the spasmodic farty twitching of butchered corpses with stinky tentacles embedded in their brains.
and a little thing called steam, its pretty obscure, you probably never heard of it.
Steam wasn't released or existent when Half-Life was released.
Really would've liked a Neverwinter Nights 2 in the same style as the first one.
Nwn2 was obsidian, and mask of the betrayer is better than anything bioware has made in years, so no loss really :P
I used to be so excited for Dungeon Keeper 3.
Syndicate 2
Syndicate wars 2
Dungeon keeper 3
Those are the things I'd have loved.
Hey OP, post some fucking content instead of a picture, one line, and two links.
