Okay? Is being gay still that big of a deal it still has to be reported upon? Guys, did you hear? Jon Stewart is straight! Fucking crazy, right?
Yeah you're being pretty delusional if you think someone being straight is the same deal as someone being gay. [editline]30th October 2014[/editline] One can preach about how he totally doesn't even see the difference all he wants, It still will be out of the norm for a lot of people, hopefully not in a negative way.
This really supports the stereotypes about apple.
I don't even get this. Is the stereotype that Apple is gay? Because that's like an insult a 10 year old would use, let alone actually believing it.
Okay? Is being gay still that big of a deal it still has to be reported upon? Guys, did you hear? Jon Stewart is straight! Fucking crazy, right?
I don't mean to sound melodramatic or anything but, as a gay child growing up, I was in desperate need of role models and representation in the real world. The lack of it was the main instigator of my self-loathing. This will help a lot of people accept themselves and as such it's good that it's public.
I still don't see the necessity in it.
i don't see the necessity in these posts [editline]30th October 2014[/editline] like really get the fuck over yourselves if all you can do is open this thread and say 'DUH SO'
Okay great now let's move on to something that actually matters
Okay great now let's move on to something that actually matters
This does matter to many people. If you have nothing to say, and actually want to move on "to something that actually matters" don't post in the thread, bumping it to the top of the subforum.

Im bisexual, i grew up in a house-hold that wasn't exactly fond of Homosexuals. i was always told they were mentally ill freaks who always ended up raping little boys (and if i ever "ended up as a queer" my step dad at the time, told me he would bury me alive) when i started to realise i was attracted to both men and women, i thought i was disgusting, that i was starting to turn gay and should fight this attraction as hard as i could. Who could i tell without risking it spreading? i felt so alone and it would have been nice to have a bunch of celebrities and public figures knocking about as examples that being anything other than heterosexual is not the end of the world. The sexuality of a Famous or successful person might not seem important or noteworthy to you; but thats because you, and rightly so i might add, think a person being gay is no big deal, but to gay people, especially teens, this kind of stuff can really help abate the feeling that something is wrong with them.
Apples new product i-gay
What! I thought Tim Cook was straight! Wha- ... whoa... dude this is just blowing my mind. I had no idea! How crazy is this shit man!?! AHHH! He's gay! AHH!
Okay? Is being gay still that big of a deal it still has to be reported upon? Guys, did you hear? Jon Stewart is straight! Fucking crazy, right?
you must be really sheltered
What! I thought Tim Cook was straight! Wha- ... whoa... dude this is just blowing my mind. I had no idea! How crazy is this shit man!?! AHHH! He's gay! AHH!
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaashut the fuck up
cool
Unsurpringly straight people who have never been discriminated for their sexuality don't see the importance in this
Okay? Is being gay still that big of a deal it still has to be reported upon? Guys, did you hear? Jon Stewart is straight! Fucking crazy, right?
Believe it or not but representation is really important for minorities and shit. It's weird how I have to explain that kind of thing to 50+ people on this forum. [editline]30th October 2014[/editline] I guess this level of ignorance can only really come from people who have always been represented in every bit of media they've consumed for their entire lives. Like, I used to think "who cares" when a celeb came out as gay, but then I realized that it's important for young kids to know that gay people DO exist everywhere, which validates their identity. Same with race and stuff, but its hard to see that at first if you're some white boy like myself who has ALWAYS had representation.
It’s made me more empathetic, which has led to a richer life.
Certainly not the only thing if you ask me...
Why would you make this assumption.
Because it's an incredibly common situation. If you have always had representation, you might not be aware of underrepresented others are.
Directed at pretty much everyone who did a version of "so what". Yes, there are people who care. Your "so what" posts are much less intelligent, interesting or informative than anything being reported on here. It's like posting your internet speed test, nobody wanted to see it.
Great news from such a large personal in technology. Tim is doing great for Apple, but I DO think they are moving towards a different market more and more after Steve.
The anti-gay community is going to start smashing their Apple products now, and hissing that they hate Apple.
I guess the states in the USA which still give gay people a lot of trouble can officially be considered third-world.
Okay? Is being gay still that big of a deal it still has to be reported upon? Guys, did you hear? Jon Stewart is straight! Fucking crazy, right?
More representation isn't a bad thing.
Because it's an incredibly common situation. Don't need to be a white straight white male to think it isn't that being gay isn't that big of a deal.
Well T-Sonar.0 is Trans and i am Gay, so there you go. Don't need to be a white straight white male to think it isn't that being gay isn't that big of a deal.
It's not about making a big deal about being gay though, it's about showing people, especially those who are LGBT in places or homes where they are discriminated, that people who are LGBT can be successful and are not restricted by their sexuality.
At first I read "being gay is one of the gayest gifts God has given me."
Well T-Sonar.0 is Trans and i am Gay, so there you go. Don't need to be a white straight white male to think it isn't that being gay isn't that big of a deal.
If there were more LGBT folks on TV and in the media when I was growing up, I would have discovered I was normal and not a huge freak. Hell, I might've already gotten hormones before puberty and would be several degrees happier rather than thinking I'm broken or mentally ill for most of my life.
but I thought everyone who worked at Apple was gay..?
Nope, thankfully they're an equal opportunity employer, so they hire straight people too.
