Im going to turn up with a eye patch and a bandana to the polls. (In 2 years that is).
What's the point they're identical to Labour.
What your trying to say is that they're both shit.
Free speech + copyright reform + getting free shit.

Better than 90% of all conservative parties then.
Cheapskates, idiots and those who are dissatisfied with the larger political parties.
Actually, they fight against a political grip around free speech, information sharing (note, not only warez) and corporate bullying. Just because it's not a topic on the 6 'o clock news doesn't suggest it's not actually happening behind our backs.
I would vote for them if I could.
Better than 90% of all conservative parties then.
Also entirely unoriginal with the only unique quality being the "getting free shit" part implying that the party is founded on selfishness and glorified theft with all of the other platforms tacked on as an afterthought to attempt to legitimize them.
The reason we have copyrights is to give people incentive to create. If it's not illegal to distribute copies of something you didn't make without consent, then how will the people creating the content make a living? I don't have a problem with piracy, I have a problem with the government doing nothing to stop it. If that makes sense.
There has to be some force in place that causes people to buy the products, so that the creators will continue creating.

So do Libertarians.
Remove the Get Free Shit part and people might take the other parts seriously.
[editline]05:16PM[/editline]
I'm going to form a part about Drug Legalization, Protection of Free Speech, minimalist government and legalizing baby rape.
Sure the first three are legitimate but they're sort of sullied by the last bit.
[editline]05:16PM[/editline]
Honestly the Pirate Party is what happens when a bunch of talentless people get together and try to tell the talented what to do.

And it's working. Cry some more
And it's working. Cry some more
They got one seat on an organization nobody really listens to comprised of hundreds of seats.
That's working super well. Really everyone takes them seriously now.
[editline]05:23PM[/editline]
Doesn't the BNP have a seat too?
Is their shit working?
[editline]05:24PM[/editline]
Should you take the BNP seriously because they have a seat somewhere?
Now honestly who would really want them getting to power? They have no actual political views, nor ideas, let alone having some good ones.
You're no fun.

The thing is that the only people who actually sell CDs(And are victims of piracy), are the big bands who made it, and they're earning millions anyway, and I'm sorry but I really can't feel bad for them, when they've got 5 mansions and car for each day of the week.
I'm all for supporting the small bands, new musicians who want to live off of it.. But the way the music industry works right now, where it's all fake and big corporations creating their own puppets for profits (Lady GaGa is a prime example).. I won't support that.
Each of those people have a small army of song writers working like mad.
It's like a guy writing a book, and then some random retard who got pulled off the streets got the credit for it, because he can read it out really well. It's bullshit.
Put this on someone chose for you. Sing this someone wrote for you. Here, these people will play the music for you. blam you're a star!
My rant went a bit off track there..

They're trying to reform copyright. That's a valid platform that nobody else seems to give a shit about.

Reform copyright or destroy it?
It doesn't matter what reforms you make, piracy will be illegal until copyright is dismantled.
[editline]06:03PM[/editline]
Also aren't you "Let Africa Die" dude?
[editline]06:04PM[/editline]
You of all people have no place talking about fairness after you spent a day talking about letting Africa die and then using it to farm corn for ethanol.

My position in that debate was that the corrupt African government needs to shape up or everyone there is going to end up dying. I also said that, due to their lack of overall progress, the only two options are either sitting back and doing nothing, or military intervention.
What does this have to do with piracy?

But when it comes to copyright SHIT IS UNFAIR DOG
[editline]06:07PM[/editline]
That's the problem with you dumb kids. You only give a shit about things like copyright because you're spoiled to fuck with an entitlement complex to boot.
But when it comes to copyright SHIT IS UNFAIR DOG
I said "reform" not "do away with". I never said it's unfair. (Even though groups like the RIAA are trying to make it so)
But when you bring up geopolitics it's all FUCK FAIRNESS LET THE DARKIES DIE
You're incapable of a rational argument, huh?
I said "reform" not "do away with". I never said it's unfair. (Even though groups like the RIAA are trying to make it so)
If it isn't unfair it doesn't need reform.
Basically you're saying "Copyright is working smoothly and fairly but it needs to be changed anyway"
But when you bring up geopolitics it's all FUCK FAIRNESS LET THE DARKIES DIE
I didn't say that.
If it isn't unfair it doesn't need reform.

It's becoming unfair. The reform lies in the fact that these pro-copyright groups have too much power over the government, and this needs to stop.
You're incapable of a rational argument, huh?
I'm completely capable of coming up with a rational argument with people who do not promote genocide on the basis of racism.
I'm completely capable of coming up with a rational argument with people who do not promote genocide on the basis of racism.
1. I never promoted genocide
2. I thought you were above the Nazi shit

Yes let's give power over the government to people like you who think all of the dark skinned people are tribal and rape virgins and don't know how to run their own countries.

Where are you getting this shit? Not all Africans are tribal, I'm not stupid. But the ones that are have dangerous misconceptions about AIDS that someone needs to fix, and I don't see the African government doing it.
[editline]05:13PM[/editline]
I'll happily continue this over private messages. This thread isn't the place for it.

So suing a person for 1 million just for some mp3s is fair, rite?

Yes. Because that person STOLE another person's hard work. How would you feel if someone suddenly came along and took your house, along with everything you own away?

I'm so sorry Weird al, now you have to buy a regular golden swimming pool instead of the one studded with diamonds :(

I will quote the DMCA again:
DMCA H.R.2281
Sec. 1204. Criminal offenses and penalties
`(a) IN GENERAL- Any person who violates section 1201 or 1202 willfully and for purposes of commercial advantage or private financial gain--
`(1) shall be fined not more than $500,000 or imprisoned for not more than 5 years, or both, for the first offense; and
`(2) shall be fined not more than $1,000,000 or imprisoned for not more than 10 years, or both, for any subsequent offense.
`(b) LIMITATION FOR NONPROFIT LIBRARY, ARCHIVES, OR EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION- Subsection (a) shall not apply to a nonprofit library, archives, or educational institution.
`(c) STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS- No criminal proceeding shall be brought under this section unless such proceeding is commenced within 5 years after the cause of action arose.
So pirating as an individual is a different offense.
Further reference,
Sec. 1202. Integrity of copyright management information
`(a) FALSE COPYRIGHT MANAGEMENT INFORMATION- No person shall knowingly and with the intent to induce, enable, facilitate, or conceal infringement--
`(1) provide copyright management information that is false, or
`(2) distribute or import for distribution copyright management information that is false.
The huge 500,000 fine is designed specifically for distributors. While it can be argued in court that a simple downloader should be given that fine, the government has neither the time, patience nor reason to do so, given how complex an argument that would become. I would dig through to find reference to simple downloading but I am lazy.
First of all, the maximum fine is 500,000, which is reflected in direct financial loss. i.e.: It takes 20,000 distributed copies of a $50 pirated software to justify $500,000.
Secondly, the enormous fines go toward DISTRIBUTORS, not downloaders. Downloaders are not prosecuted. It's illegal in a different form, but the maximum fines are much lower and it rarely if ever happens.
If you are a distributor, you HAVE caused mass financial loss and you DO deserve a large fine.
They are in Czech Republic too now. Next year I will hit 18 and I will vote them.
