I wouldn't be so sure of that. NDP/Liberal vote split should keep the Conservatives in power for one more term.
Rob Ford in Toronto is in a mess of his own shit
we should give rob ford the prime minister position that'd be a barrel of laughs

If we had proportional voting or at a situation like in the 90s where the conservatives were also split the system would better represent the people. The reasonable conservatives are mixed with the radical conservatives who are basically Southern republicans in the US but the average voter doesn't know that. Most Albertans who vote for some of these crazies just want lower taxes in my opinion.

pffft yeah right. Exaggerate much.

I wish we had some southern republican values up here. Certain ones though.
Canadian politics is such a joke right now. There's no one of value to elect, if there was, he'd get slandered to shit with horrible hate ads because we literally don't have positive political ads
...welcome to every election south of the border for the past 40 years :v:

Rob Anders, Stephan Harper.
Always win by twice as much votes. They're quite US republican style crazy at times if you really look at their pasts.
I'm not canadian, what kind of ads are we talking about?
as in, show me videos.
Canada's political climate is really fucked right now, on all levels. Federally, we have this stuff happening where there really isn't one party (and leader) that is appealing enough to vote for. Harper's a doof and a lot of people are expressing distaste in five more years of him; Trudeau has some chance, but people discredit him because of his father (and that he doesn't have that same spark Pierre had); Tom Mulcair just isn't as powerful a leader of the NDP as Jack (Layton) was, so it's doubtful he can pull some magic out for the election; and Elizabeth May is, well, Elizabeth May.
Provincially, there is or was some drama out west, with Christy Clark's government (though she just won a majority in the recent vote), as well as some stuff with Redford. In Ontario, Wynne just took the reins from Dirty Dalton (in which he handed her the whole power plant closure mess which is fucking her over) and it's dramatic up in Queen's Park. For Quebec, I know that Marois is having some trouble because her soverigntist party is in a minority and is facing a bit of revolt over those iffy policies she wants to enact. The maritimes and territories seem good though.
Municipally, lots of laughs to be had. Rob Ford in Toronto is in a mess of his own shit, cocaine and fired assistants. Look it up if you're confused. In Quebec, the Charbonneau Commission has resulted in a bunch of mayors (old mayor of Montreal, Laval, and others I believe) to either resign or dirty their reputation because of the massive corruption scandals that are being brought to light.
At least us Canadians can trust that there's one politician who we can count on:

Except "Hurricane" Hazel is currently being sued for conflict of interest over trying to broker a deal that would have benefitted her son's company, so no, not even McCallion is dependable. There are very few politicians who are stable, credible, dependable, and/or honest, and right now the only politician I see as even remotely reliable is my city councillor and the former mayor of York, Frances Nunziata.

Hey man, Ottawa was recently voted Canada's most boring city. Municipally, our mayor isn't perfect but at least he's not on crack.
... unless it's his partner's crack.
I'm of this mind but I will vote Liberal if voting NDP means vote splitting.
I would suggest every Canadian voting NDP to keep this in mind. If the Libs get a lot of popularity back then voting NDP might give Harper another win due to vote splitting.
sadly this is true, I'd rather vote NDP any day, but at this point its less "vote for who you want to win" then it is "vote to get rid of harper"
Liberals are going to win the next election because they got Trudeau and that the conservatives are beyond awful.
I wouldn't call it just yet.
In the BC provincial elections everybody predicted the NDP was going to win, and the conservatives still won. I'd call them "liberals" but they are clearly the BC conservative party.

I hope I won't be wasting my vote on the spineless federal wing of the NDP. The fed NDP has undercut a big chunk of their original voting base so I wouldn't say I have any loyalty to their platform anymore. I'll just be voting strategically this time I think, in an effort to make sure the conservatives don't win.
