Hentai jokes aside, I'm not sure about this. Some games stay in Japan because they might not appeal to a Western audience.
And putting them on Steam is the best thing for those games. If Japan distributed retail copies of games to the West that won't appeal to all then they can at least appeal to some. By putting them on Steam they won't have to send retail copies and lose money.
And like Feuver said, they also contain lots of adult material which is not allowed.
Uh, I'm not talking about Eroge, I'm talking about games which may not appeal to the west for things such as their anime artstyle.
I think games with a small bit of erotica would be fine, like Katawa Shoujo, since they mostly just show the boobs and a little of the sex, but I think Witcher 2 shows some sex and nudity also.
No, Kawata Shoujo just has flat out sex scenes
Hentai jokes aside, I'm not sure about this. Ace Combat PC please?

The only thing you can't see is the penetration and the money shots
The Witcher 2 DOES show sex and nudity. The only thing you can't see is the penetration and the money shots
Yeah, so Katawa Shoujo and some games would be fine they just couldn't be ALL about sex
Guilty Gear/BlazBlue anyone?
Yeah, so Katawa Shoujo and some games would be fine they just couldn't be ALL about sex
Kawata Shoujo is pretty much a bloody Eroge not to mention it could be considered offensive. A game called "Seduce Me" got removed from Greenlight and that had uncensored sex scenes. I doubt Kawata Shoujo would be allowed unless they censored it or something.
Please....INITIAL D for the PC. Maybe we can even get Capcom to stop being a prick and release Monster Hunter Online for the US shores! Armored Core 6 for PC maybe? Japanese games aren't all about hentai and graphical novels you know....
This is interesting. I hope this turns out well.
Ace Combat PC please?
YES PLEASE. Preferably with support for olden-style joysticks, but I'll take what I can get

Oh man, this sounds neat. Can't wait to lay my hands on some awesome Japanese games.
You'd have to end the sony exclusivity first. And uh, that ain' happenin'. Ever.
So was Persona 4 Arena an exception? That was on 360 as well as PS3.
Uh, I'm not talking about Eroge, I'm talking about games which may not appeal to the west for things such as their anime artstyle.
Which is nothing more than a bullshit excuse. Japanese games have the potential to sell far, far more in the west than in japan (we're talking about 3 continents vs a few crowded islands here). A lot of them just don't try at all and assume their lack of success in the west is because nobody outside of Japan likes it.

I hope there will be an option to filter them because I am very racist and it would greatly offend me.
Armored Core and Ace Combat HD collections where?

contact konami and get them to put silent hill 1-4 on steam so we don't have to deal with the fuckawful hd collection they released
Can't wait to play final combat.

Hopefully we will get such classics like 98Koshien
Please get Capcom to bring Monster Hunter Frontier to the EU and US, Valve!
japan literally only produces anime america literally only produces gears of war
This is what I'm sort of talking about when I mean some Eastern games just don't appeal to a Western audience. It's the reason why most Western games you see involve a bald/short haired protagonist who is well built and has a hardened look.
