US housing boss Ben Carson calls US slaves 'immigrants'
He shouldn't have even done it. There's nothing wrong with calling imported slaves immigrants. Feels like liberals are nitpicking every little thing someone says purely based on the fact that they don't like Trump or his administration. Donald J Trump is President of the United States of America. That statement alone triggers liberals.
Your complete and total ignorance makes me sick. If you actually think "there's nothing wrong" with what he said then you are one dense, stupid motherfucker. I haven't posted in months, but seeing your post made me go through the effort of changing my password and signing in to tell you off. I'll take my ban for flaming now, xoxoxo
I'm assuming Bengley is talking about sannys bizarre partisan ranting
possibly. my bad then.
It's always entertaining seeing how people find new ways of getting outraged or triggered.

As a student of history, the conservative penchant for labeling the African slave trade as "immigration" triggers the shit out of me.
It's always entertaining seeing how people find new ways of getting outraged or triggered.
It's always entertaining to see the next condescending conservative shitpost from someone totally ignorant of history.
And when the shoe is on the other foot, how 'triggering' it is to call a spade a spade.

Getting triggered over semantics give me a fucking break.
Getting triggered over semantics give me a fucking break.
Do you believe the distinction between the African slave trade and voluntary immigration is semantics?
Do you believe the distinction between the African slave trade and voluntary immigration is semantics?
Yeah no one said voluntary.

Also attacking someone is always a great way to defend your stance haha
How about we stop using the word "triggered" like it somehow validates your argument.
Getting triggered over semantics give me a fucking break.
This is not a case of semantics; it's a complete misrepresentation to call African slaves "immigrants" to the United States because usually we associated the word immigrant and people who are immigrants as voluntary and willing people who want to go to another country.
But the African slaves brought to America were NOT willing and they were NOT voluntary. Carson ALSO implied that somehow they experienced the American dream from this, which is a complete fabrication as they suffered and were treated as property!
I, like Raidyr, have studied a lot of history, both of my own land and the world. I would never describe African slaves as immigrants. I will never describe Irish slaves as immigrants either.
EDIT: Putting this all down to people getting "triggered" is down-right cowardly. It shows you have no argument in the first place.

Here's a protip for you: He has no actual argument, he's just trying to goad people into getting mad.
Yeah no one said voluntary.
Immigration is taken as voluntary by the context it has been historically used in. The idea of voluntary immigration is redundant and involuntary immigration is silly. So when Carson calls African slaves sent to America as "immigrants" the assumption is that he meant voluntary, which is why he tried to explain that "involuntary immigrantion" is a thing, then someone who actually has some experience in damage control wrote out a semi-apology walking the whole thing back and reminding us that slavery was nothing at all like any sort of immigration.
How about we stop using the word "triggered" like it somehow validates your argument.
He didn't even make an argument. He just said "haha people are triggered". Just a brazen shitpost, then pretends like calling a shit post a shitpost is an attack.
Here's a protip for you: He has no actual argument, he's just trying to goad people into getting mad.
I'm aware but I may as well at-least say that out loud for the benefit of others and to show *why* he doesn't have an argument. I hope that doesn't count as fanning the flames.
They did come to America. First they were somewhere else, and then they were in America. Doesn't matter the means.
What is this semantics bullshit lmao.
Migrants do not come by force. They aren't refugee's or victims of human trafficking. There is a distinctive difference and if you can't see the difference in context and word then I'm sorry but holy shit what are you doing
You need to realize that calling the "SLAVES" to be "IMMIGRANTS" is massively bandaging the problem of slavery and making it sound less bad.
Getting triggered over semantics give me a fucking break.
This is pretty much the worst mentality
Yes people should be triggered over slavery
it's not a topic that is a joke and shouldn't have words band-aid it as some thing that 'wasn't a big deal'
I don't care how much Ben Carson thinks its serious, his word genuinely does label it in a lighter manner than it should be.
The US did a monstrous thing and even if it was "the norm" back then, they 100% should be criticized harshly, and we shouldn't butter words to make it seem less bad.

You say it's not a case of semantics and you literally start arguing semantics by explaining what your idea of the word "immigrant" is. Would you prefer the more degrading word "imported" as they were just property back then?
Here's a protip for you: He has no actual argument, he's just trying to goad people into getting mad.
I genuinely can't tell when people are posting things ironically these days.

It's not that the word "immigrated" is degrading, it's that it's downplaying what actually happened? Regardless if the term is technically and semantically true or not.
They were absolutely imported and to forget that they were imported as property is incredibly asinine.

Imported would be more contextually correct but no, this isn't about semantics it's about the definition of words. Like I said early, immigrants aren't refugees aren't migrants aren't slaves. Moving from one area to another doesn't make you an immigrant. Human trafficking is not immigration.

Its always entertaining seeing how much worse your posts can get
I love when people go out of there way to piss other people off and then complain about being attacked.
I also love how it's become cool to call other people "triggered" and "outraged" as a way of saying something without really saying something. It lets you ignore a lot of annoying things like context for instance.
It's good to see you follow in the same footsteps as the guy who gets his words off of Urban Dictionary.
P.S.
I was originally typing an actual reply but I don't know if I want to waste too much time on what I assume is a shitpost
It's absolutely a shitpost, wonder what's taking Pascall so long

Disagreeing and shitposting isn't the same thing, my friend.
"Literally ban anyone who disagrees with me"
No ban people who come in and say "wow look at all these LIBS getting TRIGGERED" like it adds anything to the topic at hand
"Literally ban anyone who disagrees with me"
Ah so now you care about semantics

I don't know what he was thinking but I can say with he probably knows that slaves were involuntary brought to the states. He's not preaching slavery denial, he made a poor word choice.
"Literally ban anyone who disagrees with me"
I'm sorry, did you say something about words uh, "triggering" people? :buddy:
I don't know what he was thinking but I can say with he probably knows that slaves were involuntary brought to the states. He's not preaching slavery denial, he made a poor word choice.
of course he's not a denier, literally no one is saying that
but his dumb ass still gives others a way to dampen the issue of slavery and that's bad
"Literally ban anyone who disagrees with me"
Someones triggered
