Well, there is an image of safety and the crime rate is indeed low, but there is also a problem of police not following up on reports of certain types of harassment and assault, as well as some cases they can't solve being written off entirely to maintain said image of safety. Regardless of whatever link nationalists or other people want to draw between immigration and increased crime, Japan needs it if they want a competitive workforce or maintain their population.
this exactly, if they know they cant find the criminal of say a murder, they will just say it was an accident or suicide to keep their "crime rate" low.
More like they don't want to be salarymen or career women.
I can't blame someone for not wanting to do a job they find to be boring, soulless, and crushing. You know what? Before you say "Then they should work harder towards getting their dream job" I'd really like to point out not everyone can or that it even works out to do so for a lot of people. When at the end of the day you realize that the world looks a lot more like working for the sake of working and just shrugging off the misery as being nothing and happiness is a secondary thought to anything else in life, why would you want to put in a shit tons of effort?

Especially when you can live relatively cheaply and do things you enjoy doing. I think this mentality is going to be happening in all of the first world countries. Like I said earlier in the thread its already starting in the US. And honestly its an overall good mentality shift, because it means that most people who actually do jobs will be doing them because they want to and not out of some preconceived notion that you need a job to have value in your life.
personally I'd rather they fixed their god damn sexism more.
How is Japan sexist? Is it because they're OK with women looking good?
How is Japan sexist? Is it because they're OK with women looking good?
Japan is 105th in the 2013 global gender gap report. The gender gap report compares 136 countries. Women are also grossly underrepresented in nearly all aspects of leadership - local government, central government, as academics, in private business and in public service. It's pretty clear there's a glass ceiling in place. They might get to be the secretary for the CEO, but it's unlikely they'll get to be the CEO and so on. Not to mention society itself, which encourages everyone to go to university or become salary men, whilst strong cultural pressure - especially from the older generations encourages women to become stay at home housewives.
We got any japs on FP who can tell how the lack of Babby has affected them? Fuck it, are there any Japanese people full stop on Facepunch.
Ohay...fuck it. I'm not actually from Japan.
