Godwin's law is good, it stops people from relating things like this to completely unrelated topics, like the Nazis.
As far as I know godwin's law tells that sooner or later a discussion on the internet will lead to nazis. It does not restrict anything.
If someone burned the Bible, there would be even more of an outrage.
Doing it is stupid and that's the end of it.
And what was he disagreeing with anyways?
Muslims most aren't terrorists, I have some good Muslim friends in fact, and they are probably some of the most peaceful people I know.
It all comes down to stereotyping again, and it's stupid.
I don't think you've read the Qu'ran. It's punishment for apostasy is enough to make me disagree with it. Not to mention its incredible favoritism towards men. I live around mostly "Muslims", and all of them are kind people. These however, are not what I consider to be REAL Muslims. If you would like to see a real practicing Muslim, you should head over to Pakistan and see the shitfest that happens over there.
Burning the Qu'ran will be used by Islamic fanatics as part of their recruitment drive. After all, their side of the argument is mostly based on the belief that "The West hates Islam".
Doing stuff like this is only helping them gain support, and yet more willing soldiers who will happily blow theirself up to help Islam.
We now have a legal reason to shoot stupid people, what's so bad about it?
REAL AMERICANS burn Qur'ans
Hell i am going to Walmart in a few buy some qur'ans put gasoline all over Them and light the shit up and put it on my youtube channel.
I'll post a link. If i am able to record it :science:
BURN BABY BURN :flame:
One more thing, Every box i get is ever Qur'an i will burn. :keke:
Then i'll burn a bible for experiments sake.
ok you go do that, make sure your mommy and daddy know you're going to use fire first though okay?

They have enough on their recruitement drive. There's already videos of Americans burning Qu'rans on the internet. And most of all, they have religion as a part of their recruitment drive. This man won't exactly make much of a difference.

a "real" Muslim as you put it is one that takes the Quran for what it is and uses the advice it gives them
seems like you're talking about radicals, which exist in every religion
As far as I know godwin's law tells that sooner or later a discussion on the internet will lead to nazis. It does not restrict anything.
It is usually meant to state "Where there are opposing sides of an argument, the first side to use a reference to Nazis or Hitler as part of their argument will automatically lose."
Or some such.

Bam! End of discussion. If people took their holy books for what they are and used the advice it gave them, there would be a whole lot of killing happening. Please read any popular holy book and then come back and tell me that we can have a modern society by following the book for what it is. Anyone with basic theological knowledge will tell you that a religious radical is a person that takes their holy book for what it is.

Never say "End of Discussion", it's really unintelligent.
Islam, more than other religions, states that you must believe in the words of the Qu'ran.
To disbelieve is a sin, and this will condemn you to hell. That is what Muslims believe.

Classic response from someone who hasn't read a holy book. Seriously man, you just have to read.

The Qur'an is full of hate. Sexist, Racist, and Ultimism beliefs.

No. To disbelieve is a sin, and not only a sin, but a sin with the punishment of death. This has been adopted by many middle eastern countries as law.

The discussion is not over, not by a long shot. No, the radicals are those who warp the holy texts to suit their own ideologies. Those who take holy books for what they are, simple rules and guidelines for a better life do not become radicals. This is true for all religions.
you've never read the Quran
...No. You've made it pretty obvious by now that you haven't read the first page of it.

that part is taken out of context so much it's unbelievable, what it says is that if the enemy is a disbeliever, they shall be punished with death. that doesn't mean someone dies just because they disbelieve, it says enemies, as in people who are already against you.

It's much easier to argue when you are completely ignorant of the topic, isn't it?
Excuse me for saying my opinion, but people are getting mad over nothing when the guy burns a few pages of the book.

thank you for contributing nothing and not reading any of the past few pages

A regular practicer is a person who "interprets" their holy books to fit the status quo of modern society and to better suit their own moral values. AKA a good person.
A radical is a person that takes every sentence in their book for their literal meaning. AKA a crazy person.
No. To disbelieve is a sin, and not only a sin, but a sin with the punishment of death. This has been adopted by many middle eastern countries as law.
Some. And this is not in the Middle East - This happened in America. What goes on in other countries is not something we can easily deal with.
...No. You've made it pretty obvious by now that you haven't read the first page of it.
It's not completely filled with hate, read Qu'ran 5:69.
Then again, other religions offer "good" eternal life available for everyone.

I don't think it's right to call them crazy - They believe in every single word, they don't consider anything else because to them there IS nothing else. They're not crazy, they just have very firmly held beliefs.

Well you also have point, so we might have to agree to disagree. I agree that a regular practicioner is someone who interprets the holy texts to suit the modern life, but I don't agree that the radicals are the ones who follow the letter of the book. They also warp and interpret the text but for their own goals.
My biggest problem is that he didn't say why. He burned a highly symbolic book, and as far as we know, he did it so he could have a swarm of reporters around him. If he was doing it in protest, he needs to clarify that or it isn't even protest, but a random book burning.
