Sorry if I'm repeating a previous post here, I only had a quick skim through the thread. Today I opened the newspaper, a few pages in I see two pages covered with pictures from around the world of different Muslim nations burning bibles and American flags. This is not the first time I've seen Muslims burning flags / effigies, nor will it be the last. Why is it totally acceptable for this to take place on an almost global scale on a regular basis but as soon as one guy from America threatens to burn a few copies of the Qur'an all hell breaks loose and people see it as the beginning of the appocalypse? To me it is the most hypocritical bullshit I've ever seen. Sure Muslims don't like to be tarred with the same brush, they don't want to be associated with terrorists but we can't deny the fact they are linked to the terrorists by their religion so they should take it upon themselves to do everything they can to stop these cunts bringing a bad name to their religion instead of wasting their time saying how much they hate the Western world. Seems to me that Muslims get way too many rights in the world, allowed to do whatever they want as soon as they start shouting 'discrimination', people are scared to stand up to them. If they don't like it, they can fuck off back home.
sure, christians don't want to be associated with abortion bombers but we can't deny the fact they are linked to the bombers by their religion. see how dumb that post was yet?
sure, christians don't want to be associated with abortion bombers but we can't deny the fact they are linked to the bombers by their religion. see how dumb that post was yet?
you ignore his point and focus on one little nitpick detail, thereby determining that the entire post is dumb well done
you ignore his point and focus on one little nitpick detail, thereby determining that the entire post is dumb well done
his entire post pretty much was dumb and xenophobic. the only point i got out of that was "muslims have too many rights and bitch when they are discriminated against" i don't see how they have anymore rights than any other religion, yet they're targeted much more often. it's a bad thing to speak out against bigotry and ignorance against people being retarded? i didn't know the 1.5 billion muslims in the world were out burning bibles and american flags, just because some do it doesn't make it acceptable for us to do it back. you're fighting fire with fire.
sure, christians don't want to be associated with abortion bombers but we can't deny the fact they are linked to the bombers by their religion.
That made no sense.
So if the pastor lived in a third world country he could burn all the Korans he wanted without any outcry?
His point meant that we didn't have to be intolerant, disrespectful, and bigoted like them.
Thats what a Mosque is, essentially.
How many mosques have swimming pools?
How many mosques have swimming pools?
swimming in the BLOOD OF INFIDELS!~!~!

This is seriously getting out of hand. Judaism, Christianity, Islam, etc. preach the same message, and peace and love for all, just with different characters. Religion is fine, it's just everyone is fucking stupid. :smithicide:

Religion is fine, it's just everyone is fucking stupid. :smithicide:
The sad thing is that the religions often occur in times of suppression or inequality & intolerance , and as soon as a certain hierarchy starts manifesting itself (priests, popes, imams, etc...) that writes down the thoughts of that religion, things become a lot more intolerant. On top of that, since the ideas are written down at that moment, people will no longer think about those ideas and they'll just accept them. They don't learn to think about ideas, they just learn ideas. If a religious authority then slips in some personal needs in the book containing those ideas, everything fucks up. The Bible was written by dozens of authors, each of them with their own conceptions, each of them living in a society that might have fundamental cultural & social differences (caused not only by geographical differences, but also different times, look at how our society changed in 50 years: old people have a completely different set of morals & rules & conceptions) Combine that with a certain group of people who refuse to be sceptic or do not have the ability to think in an abstract & non-literal way and there you have it: people with no autonomous thinking, people who impose ideas, people who fail to spot the actual message of a book and just focus on the concrete details (creation of the universe, etc...) It happened to Judaism, it happened to Christianity, and I'm sure it happened to numerous other religions
Korans have millions of copies, so burning them will do nothing
not the point, burning a book is one of the most closeminded actions imaginable. There are millions of copies of gravity's rainbow, but if I saw a guy burning it, I would be really pissed.

The amusing thing is that nobody does this for Christianity or Judaism or whatever religion whenever they come under fire. The best you can expect from the fine users on this board is "fuck religion." When it comes to Islam, though, the fine champions come out to defend it to the death, striking down anyone who speaks against it as bigoted and intolerant - amusingly enough, it is often the same people who say fuck religion. He never said it was "acceptable" to burn in retaliation, he said he was fed up with how people can get away with burning symbols of another religion or country, but the moment we do it to them we get screamed at and shut down, declared politically incorrect and shunned away as intolerant and bigoted. In fact, you're proving his point - in condemning people who burn Qurans, you're giving a concession to Muslims that you decline for others. They have the right to burn a bible or American flag, but the moment we do something it's unacceptable? Offensive? Bullshit, you can't have it both ways.

The very reason that it's not tolerated is because it is the incentive to cause a war, at a time that we need one the least. The fact that you defend it this way is extremely ignorant and downright stupid. If there are protesters outside your door because you wage war on their families over a few drops of oil, then yes, they are going to protest. And to further this conflict, you decide to burn their 'holy book', though it might not seem much, they will rage so hard it will rip the bowels of the fucking world out. The moment you do something like this, innocent lives are lost for no valid reason.
Good work.
You're being sarcastic, right? RIGHT?
Burn more.
No.
I personally think we should burn all religious books. Why would anyone want to be offended by any type of book burning. Humans need to stop being big babies. (User was banned for this post ("Trolling or dumb" - verynicelady))

Who cares, I use the bible as rolling paper all the time. (User was banned for this post ("Trolling" - verynicelady))
Who cares, I use the bible as rolling paper all the time.
I'd use it as toilet paper, but I do not own any bibles. (User was banned for this post ("Trolling" - verynicelady))
