Explain Atheists
Atheists are usually moderately well educated and somewhat intelligent people (although if we were to consider "atheists" in FP this definition would lose all its meaning). Now education does not mean atheism, most religious scholars are extremely educated, but in order to question things you need a certain level of knowledge/background. Religion is backed by masses and masses are not intelligent on their own. Humans like to follow a leader of sorts and God just serves right.
There is also several other issues: Many atheists follow Richard Dawkins and hang on to his words. They consider themselves atheists since they do not believe in God (and in the true sense of atheism they are right) but still they are followers.
And finally how many actual atheists are there? It is sort of a fad to consider oneself an atheist, but when shit hits the fan and there is no one around how many people wouldn't turn to praying? If everything in your life is going horribly wrong would you turn to a higher power? Now you can answer this "No of course not", but will you really stand by your principles when the time comes?
I shouldn't let this sort of stuff get to me, but after seeing all the comments made by idiotic Americans who seem to believe all Muslims are terrorists who want to kill everyone who doesn't worship Islam...
I'm so angry right now, I didn't realise how fucking intolerant some people could be. I wanted to go out there and punch each and every one of them.
I've never let the internet affect me like this before, but that's because most of the time people saying things to annoy you do it because they're trolls, and are speaking out of their ass. These people actually BELIEVE what they are saying, and the majority of people AGREE with them.
Yeah, it must suck to see that other have differing views from your own. Welcome to real life.

Punching causes war, it does not educate anyone. Sorry.
Wow, the video has been flagged as inappropriate.
Yeah, it must suck to see that other have differing views from your own. Welcome to real life.
You should say that to them, not me.
These people are insulting Islam because it's a different religion.
So really, the people who are being bigoted here are the idiots burning the quran.

Haha, then you're as ignorant as these religious folks are. They do violent stuff to make them feel better too. It does not change anything.
Wow, the video has been flagged as inappropriate.
That's more so that people can't complain to youtube that they were offended by it.
Most people will ignore it anyway, but if they acknowledge that it's offensive before they get to it, they lose their right to complain.

You are the one who is advocating using violence against those who don't believe in the same way you do, I do not.
So you can't actually put forth anything? This just goes on to prove how desperate you must be. I have gone through my messages starting from your last quote to the first one, and I also remember what I have written. I have done no generalizations
It seems to me that you are kind of desperate because you immediately felt attacked when I posted my first comment. I hadn't read any of your posts, I've just encountered numerous occasions where someone posts an uninformed and completely generalized opinion, and then that post gets a sad amount of agrees. e.g. "Nuke Iran", "Muslims should be put to death", etc. etc.
So please stop posting, because -ironically- all you do is yap about the lack of quality of people's opinions in a pseudo-educated way, resulting in patting yourself on the shoulder while thinking "Wow, I sure showed those ignorant fools". I don't know what exactly you are trying to achieve anyway, too much of the above crap cluttering your posts...
You also didn't read my posts well, I didn't say that you generalized people (although that wouldn't surprise me), I just said that it's wrong to generalize any amount of people.
Also, I'm sure that cultural, imperialistic and numerous other factors were the cause of past so called "religious" wars. Remember that the first Bible translation into the language of ordinary people (Dutch, in this case) was in the 16th century, 400 years after the last crusade... On top of that, literacy rates were still very low.

You don't need to be educated to not believe in Gods or Goddesses, religious books are just usually easier to explain or have a mass support for them already and culturally absorbed.
You are the one who is advocating using violence against those who don't believe in the same way you do, I do not.
Advocating using violence? Hah!
No, I'm much more TOLERANT than that, I'm afraid. I may get very angry at them but I'm wise enough to recognise that actually going out and punching them in the face would NOT be a good course of action.
There's nothing wrong with getting annoyed with people who disagree with you.
You don't need to be educated to not believe in Gods or Goddesses, religious books are just usually easier to explain or have a mass support for them already and culturally absorbed.
You need education to understand explanations to why and how things are. Gods and goddesses to the same thing sans education.

Scientific theory is a little bit different to 'God did it'
What I hate is seeing religion forced into school systems. Why the fuck are they forcing kids to study their bullshit god theory? Religion should be taught in fiction class.

Well I think they should be taught science and have the choice to follow a religion if they want to. That way they get every possible view...
It's still a freedom of speech, so I support it.
Even though I'm a christian, I still would support his reason to burn a bible. Even though I'd be against it.
That's the problem with a lot of people nowadays. They'll support something they know is completely morally wrong as long as it's technically not against the rules.
The point here is NOT whether or not god(s) exist and whether or not people who believe in such things are "Right".
What people need to do is respect people's beliefs, no matter how strange or unbelievable, because there will never be evidence to prove or disprove these religions, and so we must live with the fact that people out there WILL have different beliefs than us, and they most likely will differ from ours in many ways. But there's nothing we can do about it.
You can tell them that you disagree, because likewise you're free to believe in what you want.
However, insulting and attacking another religion because it has some ideas we consider "Wrong" is something we should NOT do. But it's exactly what people are doing by burning the holy book, which is, next to the Mecca, pretty much the CENTRE of the Muslim Beliefs.

I disagree. I think religion should be taught by their parents or someone if they want to. Not school.

i think that's the only pun in the entire thread
so cheesy :v:
roll it up light it up yee
All this shit is why they should just move the mosque and get over it. I'm not racist but there's no point in being so stubborn and just trying to cause shit.
I mean, I have to think that's mostly the reason they're so set on not moving it. That's not even a residential area like most community centers are built in so there's not really any rational reasons for them wanting it there so bad.
Wow look at all the retards recording it that's the best part
Religion, once again, causes nothing more than fighting. Good Job guys.
I think if people could get over having a Mosque built there it would be a massive step forward.
That said, it's not going to be easy.

Step forward to what? More religious hate from christians?
Religion, once again, causes nothing more than fighting. Good Job guys.
It's not relgion, it's just stupid people.
There's nothing in the Christian faith about how you should burn things that have to do with other relgions.

that may be so, it really may be, but they still have the right to build it there, just like this man has the right to burn the Quran. it may sound childish, but if people are going to complain about it and actually resort to violence because Muslims want to build something, then they should go ahead and do it.
down here in Murfreesburo, which is not getting hardly any media attention, the Islamic community is building a new mosque and is getting a whole load of crap because of it, there is no reason other than intolerant and ignorant people who think the mosque is going to be a terrorist training base and dumb stuff like this. someone even set fire to some of the construction equipment set up.
