It's funny, you sit here and defend the Mosque building, but when a church is burnt in the middle east? or when a priest is murdered down there, do you even give a flying fuck about it? Or when a Synagogue is burnt down, or a Jewish leader killed, do you care? No? Then why do you care so much about this?
That's because we're from America, we are expected to be more civilized and tolerant than the east.
Theories do not need scientific evidence to back them up - Creationism IS a theory.
It's basically speculation. Theories lead to hypotheses.
Uh yes they do. Without proof theory is useless.
Have fun with pissed off muslims.
Except there is no science behind creationism. Sorry your "comeback" is stupid.
how much do you know about the theory of evolution? do you actually know much or just the 1,2,3 basics?
if you were really smart and thought religion was only for dumb people, then why would you have such a problem with religion? why would you be oh so ready to voice your opinion how bad religion is?

a theory is just that, a theory

Because religion slows down our progression.
Uh yes they do. Without proof theory is useless.
A Theory is different from Hypotheses in that it does not require evidence.
Theories can be disproved, of course, but no such proof exists for creationism.
I blame the Amazing Atheist.
OK simplify and educate the masses then. Nobody is stopping you. And the Creationist idea (it is not a theory, there is no science behind it. Look even you slipped up) might be more complex but it is fed to the masses as "God did it".
Theory - a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world; an organized system of accepted knowledge that applies in a variety of circumstances to explain a specific set of phenomena. A tentative insight into the natural world; a concept that is not yet verified but that if true would explain certain facts or phenomena - a belief that can guide behavior.

So creationism is a theory even if some people believe it is 'fact' does not actually make it fact - a theory does not need scientific backing.
So no, I have not slipped up.
Here is a simplified theory of the Big Bang, without even trying;
A long time masses of energy collected together and formed a huge explosion that created the galaxies in the universe and eventually - humanity.
So, because he has a different view than you, he is automatically a dumbass?
Sure, he has the right to express his opinion, but we can express our opinion about him.
let me put it this way
i believe a higher power created the world and put beings on it
you believe a huge explosion occurred and rocks were formed, and an a itty bitty little micro-organism grew to be a human
who are you to say exactly that my viewpoint is pointless or dumb compared to yours?

it does not, at all actually
wow. good job showing complete disrespect.
Disrespect? It's a bloody book. He can do whatever he wants with it. Who gives a shit if people call it offensive. "I'm offended" is just a whine. I disagree with the ideals inside that book as well.

In other words, you have not studied the big bang theory and are not a scientist so you go with the easy explanation.

See Dark Ages.
Right now it's not so bad, but religion still slows us down with stuff like protesting usage of fetus stem cells and other crap they find immoral.

i've studied the big bang theory as extensively as anyone else on these forums, and no i'm not a scientist

There is a difference between the layman's theory and a scientific theory. A scientific theory is regarded as fact.
thin sheets of tree containing ink go through intentional rapid oxidization through combustion at ground zero, billions cry for their imaginary space daddy.

Just because you disagree with their religion does not give you the right to go out and destroy one of their holy symbols.
It's disrespect, nothing less.
To them it's more than just a book, it's an entire way of life.

ok i will give you that one, religious radicals did hinder any sort of progression during those times
however, stem cell research and what not will still happen

The Big Bang Theory is still just a theory.
Creationism AND the Big Bang explain everything just as well as each other.
You just need to respect people who believe in the other.

Yes it does. I have the right to draw penises all over their book if I wanted to. Shit, I can do WHATEVER I want with that book. "Disrespect" is a whine.

While you do have the right to destroy/vandalize a book, it still might be a sign of disrespect for some people.
By destroying it, you're intolerant in their eyes.

End of discussion. This statement is KNOWN to be said by those who have no understanding of the scientific method. Sex theory of Reproduction, Germ Theory of Disease, Nuclear theory, and the Theory of Relativity are facts. The "theory" in science lingo is the highest status something can achieve without entering the realm of mathematics. Please do some research on the internet before you do the classic "just a theory" mistake.

I hope you're not one of the hypocrites whining about the "mosque".
This is a stupid thing to do because it upsets people, and making the community center for Muslims so close to Ground Zero is also a stupid thing to do because it upsets people.
It doesn't matter if they have a right to do it or not, it still upsets people, and therein lies the problem.

It's disrespectful to Nazis if I spit on a picture of Hitler. It was disrespectful when the founding fathers rebelled against the British. Burning a Qu'ran is showing disagreement, a right given to us by the first amendment. If someone is offended by it, that's okay. In the words of Stephen Fry:
"Ok, you're offended. SO FUCKING WHAT."
are people ACTUALLY arguing about universal origin theories?

What mistake?
There's no substantial evidence to PROVE it happened.
Likewise, there's no evidence to PROVE creationism happened.
Until such evidence arises then people just have to agree to disagree.
