I hope you're not one of the hypocrites whining about the "mosque".
This is a stupid thing to do because it upsets people, and making the community center for Muslims so close to Ground Zero is also a stupid thing to do because it upsets people.
It doesn't matter if they have a right to do it or not, it still upsets people, and therein lies the problem.
It's disrespectful to Nazis if I spit on a picture of Hitler. It was disrespectful when the founding fathers rebelled against the British. Burning a Qu'ran is showing disagreement, a right given to us by the first amendment. If someone is offended by it, that's okay. In the words of Stephen Fry:
"Ok, you're offended. SO FUCKING WHAT."
so you're saying that burning the Quran, a book with much value to a group of people, for no reason other than you don't like Muslims, is the same as the American Revolution?
[editline]11:32AM[/editline]
are people ACTUALLY arguing about universal origin theories?
what's that? people have different views than I do? :O

Look up the definition of allegory.

Mein Kampf has much value to a lot of people. Does that mean you're gonna go ballistic once someone decides to defile it?
The Big Bang Theory is still just a theory.
Creationism AND the Big Bang explain everything just as well as each other.
You just need to respect people who believe in the other.
I agree with most of your other points but this statement just killed any credibility you had. No it is not the same. Big Bang is a theory with backed with a lot of hard evidence. Have you heard of the COBE mission? No of course you haven't.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COBE_mission
"This work provided evidence that supported the Big Bang theory of the universe"
You see that? There is evidence that supports Big Bang, there is no evidence that supports Creationism. Theories do need proof if they are ever going to be taken seriously scientifically.
Look up the definition of allegory.
that is a terrible example of an allegory

I'm just saying that it's stupid to upset people just to upset people.
I wish we could all just get along, but people like you and the man in the video makes this impossible.
And besides, your argument is stupid, the video or Ann Coulter doesn't even have anything to do with what we are discussing.
Pissing people off just to piss people off is stupid, whether Atheists, Americans, Muslims, Christians, me, you or an ant is doing it.
My Struggle, by Adolf Hitler, his self biography, the fact that you don't know what it is is quite... astounding, if anything
what's that? people have different views than I do? :O
no. i'm wondering why this is happening in a thread about someone setting fire to a stack of papers.
actually creationism and the big bang theory aren't really related considering that creationism extends to the origin of life and the earth. stop comparing them.
This is so dumb

It SUPPORTS it, it doesn't PROVE it.
There is no HARD PROOF that says "This happened", not yet.
Christians would probably claim there is evidence that "Supports" creationism.
That said, I'm playing devil's advocate here - I believe in The Big Bang Theory. However, we're not certain THAT is what happened. It's possible something completely different happened that no one has ever considered.

well belief might be a wrong word, but it's still a symbol of something people believe in
You don't burn books.

You do know what the Nazis are, right? You know, those people that were in control of Germany from 1933 to 1945? I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't.

The guy obviously didn't do it just to make people angry. He was showing his disagreement. He did it in a stupid way that could endanger soldiers in Afghanistan, but the hypothesis that many people will get so upset over a Qu'ran burning that they were try to hurt American soldiers only adds on to my disapproval of that book in modern society.

What you are affectively doing however, is putting the Big Bang Theory and Creationism on the same level, something that biologists will meet with ill intentioned laughter.
i know who the Nazis are, and why are you trying to change the subject?
First of all, you changed the subject a long way back, then it was brought back on track, so don't complain when i'm trying to figure out some other facts.
Second off, I was curious whether you would have any knowledge about one of the modern days most debated and well known event or not, seeing as how you didn't know something as simple as what Mein Kampf is.
burn more

How the fuck would this endanger soldiers in afghan?
because people get angry over things that don't affect them in any way.

he did it to get his 15 minutes
and no one is going to out of their way in Afghanistan to kill American soldiers other than those who have already been doing it (the Taliban)

If someone burned the Bible, there would be even more of an outrage.
Doing it is stupid and that's the end of it.
And what was he disagreeing with anyways?
Muslims most aren't terrorists, I have some good Muslim friends in fact, and they are probably some of the most peaceful people I know.
It all comes down to stereotyping again, and it's stupid.

And I can claim I am immortal but that doesn't make it right. This scientifically supports the idea of Big Bang. Sure there might be some other explanation, but that also has to get scientific support and proof to be considered. Creationists can claim there is evidence to support creationism but as long as that evidence has no scientific meaning it is worthless.

Exactly. It's a stupid hypothesis. A Qu'ran burning will not put American soldiers in any more danger than they already are. It's a stupid anti Qu'ran burning reason that is being thrown around nowadays.
Like Godwin's law is something bad.
Godwin's law is good, it stops people from relating things like this to completely unrelated topics, like the Nazis.
REAL AMERICANS burn Qur'ans
Hell i am going to Walmart in a few buy some qur'ans put gasoline all over Them and light the shit up and put it on my youtube channel.
I'll post a link. If i am able to record it :science:
BURN BABY BURN :flame:
One more thing, Every box i get is ever Qur'an i will burn. :keke:
Then i'll burn a bible or two for experiments sake.

you asked me if i would feel the same if they did it to Mein Kampf, most likely you were hoping i would say no, i asked you what it was, you told me, i answered your original question.

Burning the Qu'ran will be used by Islamic fanatics as part of their recruitment drive. After all, their side of the argument is mostly based on the belief that "The West hates Islam".
Doing stuff like this is only helping them gain support, and yet more willing soldiers who will happily blow theirself up to help Islam.
