But then all nations may be equal in horror; for surely all have, at some degree, experienced police brutality, human rights abuse, etc. However, it is the degree which makes all the difference. For the US, it is far, far minor; anomalies, rather than a rule. But for Russia, such activity can become the rule; e.g. Spetznatz activity in Chechnya.

If we were in a democracy, wouldn't that kind of imply that we could actually vote on things? And you know, actually have our votes matter?
