Where does it state the info was in raw text?
Excuse me, I meant to use the term plain text. I've read it multiple times from multiple users here, I cannot vouch any sources hence the supposedly.
Sony's a Japanese company isn't it? I'll bet they contribute a sizeable amount to that country's economy. Oh, Japan. That rings a bell. Didn't an unprecedented, huge natural disaster happen there a while back? Damn, I hope the severe crippling of a large economic entity wont effect the speed of recovery! (it'll be small yes but noticeable) You could also take an example of someone working there, getting fired because there's not enough money to pay them, and then not having enough money to get his family back on it's feet after having their house destroyed. These are extreme examples but that doesn't make them any less plausible.
Japan has the third (or second, depending on how you calculate it) strongest economy in the world. Yes the quake was awful, but saying that Sony losing 24 billion will have devastating effects is just plain stupid. Sony isn't even in the top 10 japanese companies (by size). That's like saying the US economy was completely ruined by Katrina, and that we should feel really bad that Delta Airlines filed for bankruptcy a few months after because of all the poor american people who would be utterly hopeless without their Delta. Your post is so incredibly wrong.
I looked up the definition and you're correct. I was wrong.
haha, now I get to claim that "the title is misleading"!! :buddy: :eng101: because it's not a leak. (yet anyway)
Excuse me, I meant to use the term plain text. I've read it multiple times from multiple users here, I cannot vouch any sources hence the supposedly.
it's assumed that it was plain text, people say that if it was encrypted it would've taken the hackers more time to actually get to the act of fraud personally I'm going to wait for an official statement [editline]wef[/editline]
It's bad news for consoles, all of which can burn in hell.
no
Can someone let me know why it's a good thing if they lose this much money? This is not a sarcastic post.
It's bad news for consoles, all of which can burn in hell.
The hacker(s) are beyond extremely butthurt if they're making thousands of people lose a lot of money for no good reason.
How the fuck is this Sony's fault? Those "hacker" mother fuckers are breaking the law, are you people fucking retarded? That's like saying "I should kill someone because they stole a book from my house."
They are responsible for keeping that type of info safe, of course people are going to sue them if they didn't.
Sony getting pwned
I bet if there was award for any information that can lead to find out who the hackers were, they'd would be found in an instant. I bet you a pretty penny that someone knows who did it.
"Everybody haaates chriiiisss!!!"
They are responsible for keeping that type of info safe, of course people are going to sue them if they didn't.
Besides, since the hackers haven't been found out yet, they (Sony) are the only people the PSN Customers could sue anyway.
This wouldn't of happened if they didn't go after Geohot & others like they did.
Um. I'm pretty sure the CFW that enabled all this would have been developed regardless.
sony is not a faceless corporation but a collection of people who work hard to provide us with services and products, all who have families to feed. a lot of those people will lose their job
And that is why I said "You're all assholes"
Besides, since the hackers haven't been found out yet, they are the only people the PSN Customers could sue anyway.
There is a section in the ToS that states that Sony won't share your info with 3rd parties.
I'm waiting for when the actual hacker is caught and then violently raped in the ass for this.
I bet if there was award for any information that can lead to find out who the hackers were, they'd would be found in an instant. I bet you a pretty penny that someone knows who did it.
Wasn't that how Valve got in contact with the German HL2 Beta Leaker (Valve Network Hacker) who was later arrested by the German authorities before they could lure him to the US where he probably would have gone to Federal Prision for several years? [editline]27th April 2011[/editline]
There is a section in the ToS that states that Sony won't share your info with 3rd parties.
That's true. With "they" I meant Sony.
Wouldn't know. I never heard anything about being arrested for the HL2 Leak. , I've had Steam since May of 2007.
Wouldn't know. I never heard anything about being arrested for the HL2 Leak. , I've had Steam since May of 2007.
It's an interesting read, especially if the news of the HL2 leaker being arrested is new to you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Half-Life_2#Leak

Fantastic reading skills you have there. I assume it's the same way republicans formulate arguments against something.
That's true. With "they" I meant Sony.
I think he means that it says that and that they didn't share it, it was stolen from them.
I think he means that it says that and that they didn't share it, it was stolen from them.
oh, yeah that would be a good point from the ToS point of view... ...still: it's their job to keep that private info safe and make sure no one gets access to it, or is able to use it in the event their network is breached, right? :raise: meaning that

Sony should have secured their network better and
Sony should have encrypted the personal info, in case their network was ever breached, so that the hackers couldn't use the personal information
I think I can confidently state that we are all in awe at how a multi-billion dollar, internationally recognised company, treated our information as if it was impossible to access and that it didn't need backup protection. That is an incredibly arrogant thing to do.
I just started up my PS3 and it told me I had just been signed out of PSN Was it back up? No, it just provides that error when it can't sign in due to the network being down it seems. I keep getting it.
You know what's worse? Praising the people who stole the info just because the company they took it from will now lose money. I mean really
I don't think much of anyone is saying that the hackers did a good job
I don't think much of anyone is saying that the hackers did a good job
The thread got mostly "winner" ratings.
yeah all of those workers that are about to get laid off totally deserve this shut the fuck up your opinion does not justify a bunch of thiefs stealing information from millions of consumers and then sony having to fire thousands of workers. this might affect sony but who the fuck cares they are a company, don't like them? don't buy their merchandise. nothing justifies firing workers NOT EVEN YOUR OPINION get over yourself
nothing justifies firing workers NOT EVEN YOUR OPINION
How about Recessions then? Just sayin' you should take a chill pill.
The thread got mostly "winner" ratings.
I think it was rated like that because people say that Sony deserve this because of their lack of security not because they think the hacker(s) were right in doing this
I just started up my PS3 and it told me I had just been signed out of PSN Was it back up? [editline]27th April 2011[/editline] You know what's worse? Praising the people who stole the info just because the company they took it from will now lose money. I mean really
Indeed. To an extent this was OK, I was alright with the whole AnonOps attention from the media. It alerted people that there was significant problems with corporate policies (most of their actions were not what I would call 'good' ways of spreading the message though). The attention that it caused is now getting out of hand... What's next? I'm not sure I want to know. [editline]a[/editline] I'm not saying AnonOps is good nor bad with their actions, and I know that AnonOps claims no involvement in this attack.
