oh god no spare my eyes
I'm just glad EA still gives a shit about this IP

The what?
I bet in addition to being open world it'll always be an always-online multiplayer game and there'll be some gamemode you can play on just a tablet, because all the next-gen titles seem to be doing that at the moment.
which games do that? I don't bother to watch E3
Maybe they could do "open world" in the metroidvania sense, where technically its an open world but you have set routes/etc to get to places instead of just literally being able to get anywhere
I.E. to get to X building you have to follow a segment of rooftop sequences that are linear, kind of like following a road to get to where you want to go, but there might be multiple paths along that road you can branch off to start heading to other locations. Imagine an open world racing game for example like Forza Horizon, except instead of streets it's rooftops and such.
Rather than literally being an "open world" with the ability to get anywhere and do anything from any location
this is what I think it'll be, a bunch of moderately linear courses but with the capability to leave at will and go find something else to do. I hope there IS moderate streetlife, even if you don't get down to it all that often. Alternatively, part of runner's vision could be explained as ignoring the crowds so you can focus on the details or whatever
Breaking: Mirrors Edge 2 renamed Call of Duty: Running a lot

Well it's EA, they don't seem to be changing any patterns in their current announcements and their executives are still trying to change things to be a more "CoD" experience due to it's success. It may be different, but I don't know exactly, I just don't have high expectations.

Why is everything a fucking conspiracy?
Do you honestly believe that publishers DELIBERATELY make games "casual" and "cod-like" just to fuck with "real" gamers like you and me?

They don't have any prejudice against other people not into those games but they're appealing to what gets the most money, the fastest and easiest way like any company would. There less concerned about content and more about how much money they can get shelled out, things like Dead Rising 3, made more gritty to see if they could reintroduce it over and over to just get profit without much of the dedicated fanbase in mind. There's hardly a "conspiracy" going on.
as much as I liked faith, I feel like a new character (or a customizable one even) would be better.
Still keeping Faith in the game as a secondary character of course, but something new would be refreshing.
Afaik we know Faiths story, I want to know more about the runners over all.

Oh snap son, the game will have new features and will be very different to the original? It's prolly going to be just like the Callo Duty milking. Oh damn man, Mirrors Edge has soooo many terrible sequels that keep getting worse every installment, they should just stop making them!

I'd love to play a Campaign as Celeste to see how she came to [sp]end up selling out the Runners and siding with the PK.[/sp]

Well she is of mixed-race descent.
I see people complaining about it and how it could turn boring and stuff.
Guys, a few years ago everyone was complaining about invisible walls and how some day every game would let us explore its world with no limit, now that it is possible, we want invisible walls back?
Open world is like Multiplayer. It's good for some games and terrible for others. I can't say anything about new Mirror's Edge game, but on some modern games the open world exists only to boost sales and filler. It's really boring and there's nothing to do except to locate all the hidden treasures. It's that part of the game where you have to press W for the next 5 minutes just to start another mission. If the game is designed as a set of linear-ish missions, it should stay that way.
If it's a prequel there won't be any Pursuit Cops :(
Needs multiplayer e.g. chasing people down, races, challenges, etc

This.
A multiplayer of sorts with other runners would've been the icing on the cake for ME1, but since ME2 is going to be open-world, there's much more potential for an interesting and original multiplayer.

Co-op runners vs. PKS? runners vs. PK runners deathmatches? competitive intelligence gathering/delivery? Races? Oh god the possibilities.
insert standard anti-EA comment here
dumb button is down and to the right.
This is your chance for redemption, EA. Don't fuck it up.
who am i kidding they'll fuck it up
If you just jinxed it swear I will find you and I'll make your demice slow and agonizing.
This could be good or bad. I've certainly played a few games like Halo ODST were free roaming was just filler.
Wasn't there an article somewhere ages ago saying that EA would require their future games to include some form of multiplayer?
Yeah here.

Funny, he mentions mirrors edge about 'not including deathmatch'. Guess we can check that off the list right?
main character face looks... odd
her skin tone looks much less asian than in the first game too, that is weird
Man the concept of Mirror's Edge was so exciting for me that I forgave all of its design flaws (had some annoying bugs though), I really hope ME2 is better.
I wonder if we'll see the Shard under construction? The Shard the elevator mentions it was constructed in 2012. I don't remember if it ever tells us when the game takes place, but Battlefield: Bad Company (2008) took place in "the near future".
Also in the news tickers, Serdaristan is mentioned as being in an ongoing conflict. Serdaristan is a small country in Battlefield: Bad Company (hence why I mentioned it). Probly just an easter egg, but I wonder if it'll be mentioned anywhere :v:

This is EA we are talking about here. You can only hope the game won't be milked. Although its too early to see what direction they will go with the franchise.

Would be funny if they took place in the same universe, not that it would make story-sense.

Well, the story's don't touch each other, so that doesn't really matter. In BC2, US and Russia are at war, and a country named Serdaristan happens to take part. It's difficult to say where "The City" is though, because there isn't a lot of evidence, and most of it is contradictory. The city seems to be split between Western and Eastern influence, with a largely Western culture, but many Eastern languages are prominent, and it may be built in a tsunami or flood risk area, judging by the massive storm drains. Either way there's not a lot to suggest it's near America, Russia, or Serdaristan. So that wouldn't effect the story directly, all we get is a passing mention of the war in an elevator news post.

I was guessing some kind of future Hong Kong or Singapore or something would be the closest thing to the city. It'd make sense - the languages include simplified/traditional Chinese as well as Japanese, the culture is Westernized and lots of people (well, all ingame) speak English, heavily urbanized, and it's built near an ocean/large body of water. Either way, it's fictional so it's probably neither.
I hope it gets on steam
