North Korea. The asses of the world
Points for Russia in my book.
Maybe if they do, someone can ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING. South Korea needs to respond and stop being North Korea's bitch.
They did say they'd respond with airstrikes next time NK fires shells, so this 'dick waving' is a bit concerning.
Come on, SK, airstrike those bastards already.
doesn't n.k do military drills too lol
If NK was to attack, could SK really afford not to retaliate? They're going to end up showing further weakness.

A cruise missile strike is not a sign of weakness.
Shit's getting real.
"Well are you going to talk about it, or are you going to do it?"
I have to say, South Korea and the US doing military drills so close to the border is just asking for trouble.
They also sometimes do naval exercises right off the coast of North Korea.
Yeah, and what's with all those soldiers posted right on the border? It's like they're still at war or something!
Oh, wait....
SK will send a angry letter to NK!!!!!! Serious fucking shit!
Come on, South Korea, be assertive.
Be polite, be efficient.
If North korea fires artillery, South will do nothing. :D
Cue South Korea angrily rattling their glitsy little sabres at North Korea... and doing jack-shit. AGAIN.
Nothing like living in constant fear of your northernly neighbor while not having the balls to actually DO anything about it :v:
If North korea fires artillery, South will do nothing. :D
They will, the question is if North Korea will.
The South Delayed the fire exercise until Monday or Tuesday because of Weather conditions anyway.
ww3 starts; it ends in korea being united once more under a democracy, china follows in their lead, the world is a better place
would the end justify the means? :raise:

Except the South Koreans aren't really worried about NK, it's just the news media that makes it out to be a big deal. I know several South Koreans who don't really give a shit about NK, or at least they didn't over the summer.

They have a new defence minister, who is apparently taking no shit in these situations.
I heard he's going to throw a brick over the border as a declaration of war :ohdear:

It's funny because the new guy is in because the old person who was their defense minister too 'too long' to respond to the artillery strike on Yeonpyeong Island.
Too long in this case was seven minutes.

Yeah, a brick, followed by several hundred rockets and cruise missiles.

Well hey, when you have an enemy shelling your islands, you have to make a split second decision, the longer you take, the more ground the enemy gains. Seven minutes is a lot of time when it comes to warfare.

But they weren't in active conflict when the shellings took place. Seven minutes to make a decision that could throw your whole area into a long and bloody war is damn quick, if you ask me.
What if your wrong?
What if his wrong is what?

For all they knew it could be the outbreak of the war, split second decision making is required.

It's either seven minutes of sitting of sitting on your ass, having civilians getting bombed, or seven minutes of mobilizing forces for retaliation.

14:34: North starts firing shells (around 150, of which about 60 land on Yeonpyeong)
14:38: South conducts emergency sorties with two KF-16 fighters.
14:40: South deploys four F-15K fighters.
14:46: South conducts additional emergency sorties with two KF-16 fighters.
14:47: South fires back with the first round of K-9 howitzers (50 shells).
Hm. Based on the real timeline (not the one I remember), the course of action was definitely more on the cautious side.
Now its giving south korea some Christmas fireworks.
Well usually North Korea is pretty indirect about their threats, but promising a specific response is unlike them, and I think it can only make them look BAD if they fail to live up to their promise, so I wouldn't be surprised if finally something does happen.
I'm sorry, but after months of this shit, I'm starting to agree with the majority: Launch sorties against as many NK ranged positions as possible, roll across the border and take Pyong Yang as quickly as possible. Just end it already!
Come on, I want a tiny war here. I want to see democracy in NK before I die, c'mon!
