Its a shame that they obviously do not have proper broadcasting equipment with them.
It doesn't matter, the pixelated and staticy sound still explain how much of a powerful situation this is. They're obviously in a technical with some simple, simple broadcasting equipment.
Apparently there's heavy gunfire at a hotel where the BBC reporter is.
The BBC have their reporter who is stuck in the hotel on at the moment talking.
Is there a stream?

Silly rebels! Mind moving to the right a bit? I want to see more than your face for a bit my friends.
And yeah, the quality is low due to a shit ton of compression just to get it over a satellite connection.

His teeth :v:
Let's hope this conflict doesn't get too bloody and the rebels are able to take the rest of the city without much resistance...dammit, why don't the loyalists just defect already? Don't they realize they're fucked?
Sky are definatly winning the news battle this time. Al Jazeerah are in Bengahzi, BBC are stuck in their hotel, Sky are riding shotgun on a technical in Green Square.
shit, he's got a nuke.

Interesting
Also apparently the BGAN system only has 492kbs of bandwidth each way, explains the low quality.

Sky seem to employ fucking madmen to do their broadcasts. They managed to kill all the weak journalists off with their extreme reporting I think :v:

I would love to see the risk assessment for that. Riding into a battle on a technical.

Man, I flipped the fuck out there. I apologise.
People on Sky are discussing that the NTC have learnt from Afghanistan and Iraq and will do things differently.
Like for example they will not be excluding groups from discussions like what happened in Afghanistan with the Taliban in 2001.

Obama is planning to make a statement once the details are confirmed, I am thinking that after the NTC announce the liberation as they intend to he will.
Also apparently they are suggesting that Gaddafi has fled to Malta, which is in the ICC.
It appears the rome flight landed in Malta, Unlikely that gadaffi was aboard as the flight left before things "completely fell apart"

It might have fell apart because of the fact he left. Mindless speculation mind you.

Wouldn't it be in his best interest to leave before "things fell apart"?
I am back from taking a shitzkrieg just in case I missed anything.
Did I miss anything?
According to Al Jazeera the Libyan state TV is jammed and is broadcasting pre recorded messages.

Yes, but considering that the circumstances before the Fall were the same as they were for the past few days, it would seem like leaving wouldn't make sense. Why not leave earlier?

That's not surprising, probably their variant of the Emergency Broadcast System.

I dont think he will leave at all. If he was afraid of the rebels he would have left much earlier that now. That we haven't heard from his is more likely a symptom of the collapse of state TV. If he had left NATO and the NTC would be all over it to try and end any resistance.

You both neglect to remember that he's batshit insane and that's why not earlier :v:
It would appear that they're shooting at Gaddafi
's posters.

That's why I said he would not leave at all.
According to Al Jazeera Arabic (via twitter), the rebels are in control of the state TV.
That woman did a bad job it seems.
