Israeli soldier, 19, stabbed to death during bus ride

An eye for an eye only makes the whole world blind, but if Israel keeps going down the same route that it is going at present, we're going to see a good bit of trouble down by that end of the world.
The best thing to do would be for Israel and its lawmakers to understand that they're not doing themselves any favors by persecuting Arabs and Palestinians, and to apologize for whatever they've pulled, while making reparations for the same, but as long as fellows like Ben Netanyahu are at the helm, I have no hope of seeing this happen anytime soon.
True, and Israel has tried. The only thing stopping the cycle completely are the extremist organizations who refuse peace offerings or make obnoxious offers ("We want your capital and three biggest cities!") in exchange for peace. Some people don't even think peace is an option anymore.
Jerusalem is not internationally recognized as Israel's capitol, why are you writing Israeli propaganda? Also the soldier was 20, not 19 OP.
Might help if israel wasn't being a bunch of mongoloids to palestinians.
So that justifies an eye for an eye then?

It is not justfication, but the cause for the violence.
It is not justfication, but the cause for the violence.
Except we all already knew why.
What part of 'an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind' do these people not understand?
And thus the vicious cycle continues
Are there any hospitals or schools left for Israel to blow up in retaliation?

You mean like how they gave up the Gaza Strip and the people elected a terrorist organization who launches missiles from their newly acquired land? Every time Israel gives up land the Palestinians use it to better attack them.
Well the word Mongoloid doesn't, that's for sure. It essentially means "Asian".
Why do you think it's used to describe stupidity? Because people with down syndrome used to be called "mongoloid" due to their slanted eyes.
Well the word Mongoloid doesn't, that's for sure. It essentially means "Asian".
Yeah and John Down called the victims of Down Syndrome Mongolians because he thought they looked like their namesake.
Hey, I'm not saying that it has only one meaning.
Thank you for assuming I support the IDF simply because I live here.
Hamas deliberately launches hundreds of missiles every other year on civilian targets some of which also constitute crimes against humanity. These are the same people that ended up killing two Palestinian girls some time ago by poorly aiming their rockets.
The locally manufactured Qassam and longer-range Grad rockets launched by armed groups in Gaza also have no guidance system and are therefore inherently indiscriminate when fired at populated areas. Firing them into densely populated areas of Israel is a violation of the laws of war.
Nobody is a saint in this conflict.
Please compare the number of casualties from both sides. I'd like to hear your opinion afterwards.

Just because one side has been more successful in the needless killing of foreign innocents doesn't make the other side a saint.
They're both being fuckasses and they both need to stop because Goddamnit families are being slaughtered over a conflict that is older than the people fighting it and the ones dying from it. Its wrong, its fucked, neither side is right because both sides are doing it.
Don't hold either side onto the moral highground, because there is no highground here.

at least it makes more sense why Hamas exists
Holy shit, if my best friend weren't online right now then I'd be afraid he would've been the one stabbed.
I am always scared that he might end up dead, since he is in the IDF. Luckily he is a mechanic and not a regular infantryman so hopefully he'll be out of the fighting.
Poor guy, in my prayers tonight, wish The middle east would be peaceful again, as if it ever was

So they want the land that was originally theirs back, I wonder why.
Hey, I'm not saying that it has only one meaning.
It's like calling something gay because it sucks. Mongoloid may have another meanings but if it is based off of a group of people it is just plain offensive.
It may be an outdated term but it hasn't lost it's meaning, like saying negro.
So all Israelis support the JIDF then?
ftfy

When I see pictures from gaza, I always wonder why everything is so shitty.
Seriously, they could have done better. Those were Israeli settlements and farms that could have been used pretty good if they had been taken care of. What you see there isn't some bombed-out place.
And isn't Israel basically loaning money to them for the electricity? I've heard they haven't been paying, at least.
And as to Hamas, why are people saying it's some sort of reliable organization?
Who makes every civilian a hero for killing an enemy?
Sometimes, I get confused in all this.
I've heard loads of similar things happening in Israel, and to be honest, I'm not surprised by this.
wow 18 winners, you guys are fucking heartless lol

Hamas is one of the few groups that pretty much ensures that the conflicts in the Middle East will never end by continually provoking Israel's wrath. Realistically, the backlash for this attack alone is going to be huge.

A 19 year old that was probably just serving his mandatory conscription. People really like to celebrate deaths.
If you read the article, you'll see the murder was motivated by Israeli actions, not the other way around
yes i'm sure this 19 year old who was just serving his COMPULSORY military service was responsible for israeli actions
[editline]14th November 2013[/editline]
i don't agree with israels settlement policies or alot of their policies in general, but none of that justifies randomly murdering someone on the bus

Almost all of facepunch hates Israel so it isn't a surprise when there are 18 winners on this post. It is rather upsetting to see it.
and saying that palestinian actions like this are a result of living under oppression, you could in the same way say that israeli actions are the result of living under a state of terror where all your neighbours basically want to kill you, any random dude might stab you to death on the bus, anyone could be a suicide bomber and all that kinda crap. who started it and who's fault it is at this point i think is just counterproductive

Don't expect everyone to feign sympathy for someone who took part of the occupation, he could have joined as part of the national service if he really cared.
Compulsory service is the problem of the Israeli government. People resisting occupation strictly against military targets are not going to stop and say "wait the occupation might've been part of mandatory service" or all countries would hide their soldiers behind the "following orders" curtain.
Israel is wholly complicit for placing potentially all its citizenry at risk by forcing them to participate in the maintenance of an illegal occupation.
