They should call it Source 3
Empires Mod.
When did Empires move to another engine? I thought it was still on Source?
I wonder what it will be called. I hope they keep with their valve related naming theme.
Source 2: Ep 1?
This news gets me excited, considering that back when Half Life 2 first came out, it was basically the Crysis of 2004. Imagine if Source 2 brings the same jump in innovation and graphics that the original Source engine did.

Far Cry 1 was the Crysis of 2004
We'll finally get Left 4 Dead 3
And more DLC!!!

I meant in terms of the leap in graphical enhancement. The only thing FC had going for it at the time was a huge viewdistance, but apart from that it was still fairly ugly looking.

FC1 wasn't nearly as impressive as hl2. Materials in HL2 actually felt like they had substance behind them, not just plastic.
I hope it will support bigger maps.
Am I the only person who really hopes they actually make ricochet 2?

Yes.

You have no idea how high-grade we considered that back in the day. Shit was practically 2004 photo realistic.

That and their level design gets better and has less sprawl.
Anyone who's played Minerva: Metastasis will know what I mean. Lots of layers folded in on top of each other giving you a clear view of objectives minutes before and after you reach them. Unbelievably compact, while still retaining the huge open areas.

Of course I know how it looked when it came out. I was alive back then too. Like I said, FC's big selling point was it's huge view distance, but just looking at that screenshot you can see that it still has some fairly bad material and model quality, and bland lighting.
It doesn't really look too much better than the other games that came out at the time:

Now compare that to how HL2 looked:

HL2 was leaps and bounds more impressive looking. Not to mention that its physics system was unprecedented at the time.
