This is such a shame, my dad was really looking forward to Generals 2, he has been a Generals addict ever since release, and still is.
For anyone interested in how EA handles their F2P games, I suggest checking out Battlefield Play4Free and Need for Speed: World, two games that outright let you buy power. In Battlefield you can buy boosts that increase the damage you do and decrease the damage you take, while NFS lets you buy better cars than what you can get for ingame currency. Oh well, Generals 2 sounded neat, but not interested in more EA F2P garbage.
Well in that case this is yet another game being scratched off my games to play list.
Welp, I guess C&C franchise has died after C&C3 for me and there's no hope for it in sight.
Why don't they just make a HD version of RA 2 aka a good game.
Hey now, generals was good in my opinion, people only seem to dislike it because it was different, which is pretty much the same reason RA 1 players hated RA 2
Why does everything have to be fucking free to play now? I just want a normal game where I get everything when I buy it rather than having half the fucking game inaccessible unless I pay some stupid fucking, over priced subscription fee. I really, really hate the new F2P bandwagon, I just want to buy my games and get the full thing like I used to be able to.
They think it will save them money yet Old Republic is going to fucking die before this gets out which will be a "OH SHIT F2P DUN WURK ANYMOAR" moment for them and they might even end up canning this. If it had SP still and was a buyable game they would have probably gotten a shit of sales had they marketed it right as well.
See also: Battlefield 3. No wait, I was confused there for a second, that one both costs full retail price AND is not only pay to win, but pay to make the game even vaguely playable because only bromium servers will kick players who are using 300-baud acoustic modems.

Much smaller games like DDO and LOTRO found massive success going F2P and they weren't in nearly as good position SWTOR is right now, revenue wise.

But it seems that instead they'd rather just shit out another free to play command and conquer game.
Eh, last Command and Conquer game I enjoyed was Tiberium Wars.

Anything else usually just ends up becoming either pay to win, or a horrible grind unless you pay money for double XP or special currency to buy stuff, EG: Tribes Ascend
Fuck you, EA, that was my favorite RTS, and single player was fun as hell. I am seriously disappointed. It sounds like they really don't want their titles to succeed anymore.
Eh, last Command and Conquer game I enjoyed was Tiberium Wars.
Kane's Wrath was great too but that was the last good C&C game.

I had a shred of hope. One shred that EA might redeem itself. They just took a big steaming shit all over that shred.
Ignore this and get End of Nations instead.
Aww shit, I was looking forward to Generals 2. I guess I'll just stick to the nostalgia of the original.
NO! NO!! THIS IS HORRIBLE NEWS!
Ignore this and get End of Nations instead.
It's not like there are any other RTS' coming out.
It's not like there are any other RTS' coming out.
It's made by ex-Westwood studio devs. Edit: At least the company is founded by ex-Westwood studio workers.
It's made by ex-Westwood studio devs.
And they swear on their wives and children that it's going to be F2P without being P2W.
But it's also F2P lol http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/08/11/bombshell-end-of-nations-to-be-free-to-play
I'm inclined to believe that they'd do F2P right (End of Nations). They're not EA after all.
It's made by ex-Westwood studio devs.
Yeah I know, pretty much the only decent RTS coming out now that generals 2 is dead, which is sad considering RTS was my favourite genre.
Purchase 20 Scud Storms for $9.99?
But it's also F2P lol http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/08/11/bombshell-end-of-nations-to-be-free-to-play
Yeah but from what I've seen most of the pay for stuff is just cosmetic, which is ok. it's just when they start making it to you have to purchase units.
Jarmen Kell is not going to be pleased about this... :tinfoil:

End of Nations here I come.
