What's not to like? They're providing more, healthier, and better quality, OPTIONAL, meals. How does this infringe on anything?
Ah, this must be a different program. There was one before that did shit like getting rid of all nondiet soda, including vending machines, and not allowing teachers to hand out anything with sugar.

"We must make the young into a generation of Communists. Children, like soft wax, are very malleable and they should be moulded into good Communists... We must rescue children from the harmful influence of the family... We must nationalize them. From the earliest days of their little lives, they must find themselves under the beneficient influence of Communist schools... To oblige the mother to give her child to the Soviet state – that is our task."

I don't think that was federal. This does regulate vending machines too, but I don't think anyone really listens to what teachers can and can't hand out. Everyone in these parts gives and takes handouts happily.
Americans. Whatever it is, they want to individually decide on it.

Oh no, wooden houses how terrible!

How about we fight obesity and drastically decrease healthcare spending by teaching kids how to eat right and offering them healthy free and optional food?

You need the lesson more than I do.
Speaking at Monday's signing ceremony for the “Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act”-- a law that will subsidize and regulate what children eat before school, at lunch, after school, and during summer vacations in federally funded school-based feeding programs -- First Lady Michelle Obama said of deciding what American children should eat: “We can’t just leave it up to the parents."

Holy hell your head is thick. They're going to SELL ONLY HEALTHIER FOODS. Just buy your cola at the store and don't wait in the lunch line anymore for it.
this might actually backfire though
a good american value is greed. the little fuckers will just eat the free shit and then go n buy a burger anyways.
After all, because I eat healthy, I can eat more! :downs:

Why is it that conservatives, pseudo-libertarians, and republicans all have to take free public services and turn it into some sort of brainwashing method for the non-existant soviet empire? do you look at public libraries as forcing communist literature for the masses because they house books by marx?
Ugh how could you possibly think this is bad. Oh my god school lunches being improved and childhood nutrition being looked at it's obviously the work of socialist communists out to undermine parental control. I'm starting to think you're a poe because it's hard to believe you can be this obliviously hard headed.
And look at your goddamn source, http://www.cnsnews.com/, really? This isn't even Fox news, where they pretend to be objective, this is just glaringly biased right wing news. How is it that you hear the criticism of your sources in nearly every topic you make yet think it's a good idea to post something from http://www.cnsnews.com/?
Ugh.
“Everywhere I go, fortunately, I meet parents who are working very hard to make sure that their kids are healthy,” said Mrs. Obama. “They’re doing things like cutting down on desserts and trying to increase fruits and vegetables. They’re trying to teach their kids the kind of healthy habits that will stay with them for a lifetime.
“But when our kids spend so much of their time each day in school, and when many children get up to half their daily calories from school meals, it’s clear that we as a nation have a responsibility to meet as well,” Mrs. Obama said. “We can’t just leave it up to the parents. I think that parents have a right to expect that their efforts at home won’t be undone each day in the school cafeteria or in the vending machine in the hallway. I think that our parents have a right to expect that their kids will be served fresh, healthy food that meets high nutritional standards.”

FUCKIN NAZIS TRYIN TO NOT FEED MY KID SHIT, HOW DARE THEY
Maybe if I quote this a few more times you'll get it

How about now?
This is the part that has me upset the most. With this in place, why should parents bother to feed their kids if the schools are going to do it for them for all 3 meals, and during the Summer too?
It says "qualified children" for a reason. This means children whose parents cannot afford to feed them. Parents are still obligated to feed their children, whether they want to or not.
Glaberthread. Just, Glaberthread.
I don't need to say anything else.

Federally funded
school-based
programs
This applies to extracurricular programs run by schools, Glaber. A good source would have made this more apparent. (What the fuck is CNS anyway? I can tell it's some dumbass right-wing blog but where did it come from?)

This is not good. Why should the government be able to decide what people of any age eat?
At schools they serve breakfast lunch and dinner now. What will they do next? Adopt children.

I know this post isn't serious, but it's not deciding what people of ANY age eat. It's deciding what the public schools sell.

This is aimed at people of lower income families, if the parents dont want their kids doing things that are good for them, they can PACK them a lunch.
I thought it was completely reasonable until it said about using organic food.
What the fuck is wrong with GM food, It's tasty and I don't have fifteen testicles yet.

Then what next?
PARAMILITARY TRAINING.
Why else do you think they play games with those parachute things in the younger grades?
paramilitary
parachute
it's all connections
paraplegic kids get special attention because they are part of the PLAN
Glaber, proof again you're an idiot.

All food is organic really, organic just means it used to or is alive. We cant get anything out of things that aren't organic

it's just that lingering idea that food multinationals will own copyright on natural matter that they can use to charge people billions of dollars with.
but it's probably nothing. We should just carry on. :)
"it's everybody else's fault but the fatties' that the fatties are fat"
amazing logic guys
Keeping our children properly fed is a much better use of federal money than killing and maiming Iraqi/Afghani children with our bombs. :colbert:
Also, OP is and always shall be a fucking idiot.

If people want to eat more healthy they can do it themselves. The government does not need to help them.
