The problem is I don't think Glaber is a troll. He's been doing this for too long, and too often to still be a troll. He truly believes his bullshit.
That's just an indicator of how good of a troll he actually is.
OP, the dumb ratings are for you not Michelle Obama.
I'm okay with a little regulation on school lunches as long as they don't go too far with it. If they FORCED you to eat that or nothing though and wouldn't let kids bring their own lunch I might have a problem with something like that.
OP, the dumb ratings are for you not Michelle Obama.
I don't understand how anyone could dislike her anyway.
u kidding? shes black i mean shes a communist!! im not racist.
Glaber, Why in the name of fuck do you ignore every post that you should actually respond to, and pick out the ones that are irrelavent? Don't say you don't do this, you've done it SINCE you started on FP, all you've EVER done is this nit picky bullshit, not only that, you're "arguments" are about worthless every time.
Case in point, "You should have seen the last protest" as if protests are THE method of detecting which system is better. Your systems better Glaber? Really? How many lists is the US even NEAR the top on? Not many, not many at all, and yet you'll still insist that your failing system is THE system to go for? Seriously, i'm with Xen on this, you were raised in a fucking forest and kept from school for your entire life to develop these opinions, clearly.
On how many of those lists is the US government involved with?
The 10th amendment?
Ok you have got to be a joke or something, you can't be this oblivious.
What about the parents that can't?
What about parents that try then send their kids to school where they eat horrible junk?
What about people that live outside of your privileged, healthy world?
Let's look at this link plainly:
Kid eats healthy at home -> Kid goes to school, eats unhealthy -> Kid eats healthy at home
Kid eats healthy at home -> Kid goes to school, eats healthy -> Kid eats healthy at home
Which is obviously better?
Or how about
Kid doesn't eat at home -> Kid eats at school
Kid eats healthy at home -> Kid goes to school, buys unhealthy or eats healthy lunch from home -> Kid eats healthy at home
This was my world.
And you can do health education without providing all 3 meals, besides, what id the kid can't have what the school is serving? And have you forgotten about charities and soup kitchens? The government can only create dependence.
Now can you people slow down with the posting? You want me to argue right or respond to you, I need proper time to reply. I'm not a human keyboard or some txting pro.

If he truly believes it then he wouldn't be a troll, he would just be someone who has an opinion you disagree with.
Not saying I agree with him, I'm just making a point.
I just want to say, go to Somalia, or a small truly free market country with no existence of social programs at all. Now, it's not even reasonable to think that the country is that way due to that, and I would never suggest such a thing. But we can all accept that they are a social wreck, and are in every way detrimental to just about everyone, does the lack of a "nanny state" help? No. Hyperbole? Sure, I concede that, but look at America now. There's plenty that goes to show social programs suck, they're abused and have some shitty elements to a lot of them. There's also more evidence than people ever consider that they don't suck, and while the ones that do suck, really do suck, that's a problem with the system, not with the idea. The problems with the system can be fixed. The idea of a complete lack of a state that cares for its citizen is outright a bad idea to me, no system can fix that. Fix the system of a good idea and you actually get somewhere.

I never called him a troll, he indeed is only someone with a different opinion than mine, he just presents himself in a troll like manner where he never concedes or changes points even after his points are proven wrong in numerous ways and he just flat out avoids real arguments.
Mister Yeller, I am not a Troll. I do believe what I say and what people like Mark Levin say. I was raised with conservative values and attended church for 99% of my life (missed a few days).
And have you forgotten about charities and soup kitchens? The government can only create dependence.
And rightly so. If you were a homeless child wouldn't you want healthy food served to you at school instead of having to go wait out at a soup kitchen.
The government can only create dependence.
The majority of poor people don't want to be poor people. That's fact. It's merely a scheme to help those who cannot help themselves - which is what America is supposed to be about.

...
:sigh:
It's a struggle to reply to this because of just how awful your points are. Like, it's physically exhausting.
Your world is not a universal. Your world is prob not even the norm. You don't get this, do you? Many kids have shitty lives in shitty homes with shitty poor parents. They often don't get enough to eat, because of this. You, in your great middle class suburban world, just thinks they can get that food, somehow, but it's not through the government. Parents can't work, well, uh, can't feed the kids because they'll "get dependent" and surely grow up to be welfare leeches and never contribute anything good because they're dependent on the government. Of course.
And really, soup kitchens and charities? This is your fucking solution to the problem? They exist, and they help, but obviously not enough. This program would help more, pick up the slack and prob do better for the family as well, better quality food and less shame in sending your kids to school to eat rather than going down to the local food bank and getting donated food.
You astound me, and not in any good way.
e: How do you even get like this? I live in the same kind of life as you, middle class, suburban, well fed. Yet I don't think my life is how everyone elses is and if it's not there's something wrong with them, personally, and they should be able to fix it themselves.
my high school offered us some hilariously unhealthy shit for lunch.
you had the option of eating:
pizza
cup-o-noodles
chinese food consisting of white rice, chicken, and a few peppers
shitty microwaved chinese food, kind of the same, but of really questionable quality/look
microwaved chimichangas and burritos
hotpockets
fried chicken
microwaved meat loaf and mashed potatoes
microwaved hotdogs and cheeseburgers
those prepackaged sandwiches that look disgusting and have preservatives up the ass - you can get them in vending machines
questionable chicken nuggets
popsicles
ice cream
baked goods
all kinds of shit with an unhealthy to healthy ratio of 500:1
or you had the option of getting an apple or a 2 day old salad from some company i'd never heard of - that was the "healthy" option
and you're in support of this?

Involved with? If you mean lists that list aspects of the country in number form compared to other ones, than I really don't know what the fuck you mean by lists.
NOT ALL KIDS CAN OR WILL EAT HEALTHY, PARENTS ARE NOT TEACHING KIDS TO, AND NOT ALL PARENTS CAN EVEN AFFORD TO, where your problem with this is is well beyond me, clearly because all you seem to have a problem with is that you think everyone else is a rich suburban asshole like you. I'd rather have dependence than dead people. You seem to think that this program is for you, it isn't. It's for kids who NEED it. Some kids may go on it who probably don't need it, but there will always be those few, that doesn't mean you fuck over all those that need it just because.
I love how people bitch that America's so unhealthy and eats badly but when someone does something about it they just bitch at the person who's trying to do something about it.
OH NO GOVERNMENT IS MAKING GOVERNMENT PROVIDED FOOD HEALTHIER JESUS FUCK THIS IS BAD GUYS
in other news, some people can't afford/don't want to spend $50+ on lunch for their children, how is the government not making kids fatasses from GOVERNMENT PROVIDED SCHOOLING's GOVERNMENT PROVIDED FOOD?

Well right away, I know you're full of shit for quoting a biased bastard like him. He flat out makes up shit or twists it in such an angle... I know you don't see it, and think he's truthful and honest and some sort of hero or something, but the man spews more bullshit than a cow.

I was also raised with a very similar background and am still surrounded by it today, but that doesn't mean I should accept it as my own beliefs and refuse to keep an open mind for myself.
Glaber just doesn't want any more poor people turning 18 and being healthy at the same time. What would happen is that these kids would become obese and obese people get lazy and lazy people won't vote. Especially lazy poor people. And we all know that poor people go for democrats.
You see? This is why they don't want to help poor people.

Schools should really just teach people about BMR and remind them about it as soon as they learn to add and subtract :|
Just popping in to say this:
Fuck her, I'll eat pizza every day if I want to, this is 'murica, dammit. :c00lbert:
Also I forgot to mention my school made one piece of pizza 1.60. That's right, one dollar and sixty cents for one piece of pizza with no sides or drink. What a fair price that is!

The real question is how to fix it. Michelle's expansion to Breakfast and Dinner as well as providing through summer isn't a fix. It's making the problem worse. You can keep the free lunches in place though. Poor kids have to have something out side the soup/food kitchen.
Providing education on nutrition is a solution, making both the free and pay lunches healthier is another.
this is fucking LAME
i hate this shit about obesity
it's really getting on my nerves how i keep getting blamed for some fat fuck's unhealthy lifestyle
