Just popping in to say this: Fuck her, I'll eat pizza every day if I want to, this is 'murica, dammit. :c00lbert: Also I forgot to mention my school made one piece of pizza 1.60. That's right, one dollar and sixty cents for one piece of pizza with no sides or drink. What a fair price that is!
Ours is $1.50 :smug:
The real question is how to fix it. Michelle's expansion to Breakfast and Dinner as well as providing through summer isn't a fix. It's making the problem worse. You can keep the free lunches in place. Providing education on nutrition is a solution, making both the free and pay lunches healthier is another.
The problem is kids not eating or eating poorly. This program aims to feed them/feed them healthier meals. HOW IS THIS NOT A FIX e: I just realized the asinineness of the soup kitchen point. It's the exact same as this, except poorer quality and privately run. It's free as well, and you don't even have to qualify. So why doesn't that create dependence while this does?!

You can keep the free lunches in place though. Poor kids have to have something out side the soup/food kitchen. Cut military spending, raise taxes(Don't bullshit your way around it, lower taxes haven't helped the american economy once, it hasn't been as good as the 50's with their 90% tax rate.) or we could do the conservative option, and hand it to a private company who is legally forced to ONLY care about their profit margin, so their gouge and gouge and gouge the food and the schools for money. Yeah, I see what the problem is.
And rightly so. If you were a homeless child wouldn't you want healthy food served to you at school instead of having to go wait out at a soup kitchen.
If I was a homeless child, I'd take any food I could get regardless where it came from.
this is fucking LAME i hate this shit about obesity it's really getting on my nerves how i keep getting blamed for some fat fuck's unhealthy lifestyle
yeah fuck kids eating school lunch, its their fault for being fat fucks damn
Mister Yeller, I am not a Troll. I do believe what I say and what people like Mark Levin say. I was raised with conservative values and attended church for 99% of my life (missed a few days). Besides, I got the link to this article from Rush Limbugah's site.
Obviously you've never heard of it because of how overwhelmingly intelligent you are. Honestly, have you never seen a poor person? Is the concept of poverty alien to you or something?
The problem is kids not eating or eating poorly. This program aims to feed them/feed them healthier meals. HOW IS THIS NOT A FIX
School lunch is one thing, but when the government has to decide every meal of every day, it gets a little ridiculous. People say that it must be done because of the jackass parents, but I think one of the contributing factors to incompetent parents IS this kind of regulation.
The majority of poor people don't want to be poor people. That's fact. It's merely a scheme to help those who cannot help themselves - which is what America is supposed to be about.
True, but a hand up is more important than a hand out.
If I was a homeless child, I'd take any food I could get regardless where it came from.
Yes, you would, because you're fucking homeless. What about the poor kids with a poor family? They collectively can't even eat regularly, why is this program bad? What did Rush Limbaugh tell you to say about this?
School lunch is one thing, but when the government has to decide every meal of every day, it gets a little ridiculous. People say that it must be done because of the jackass parents, but I think one of the contributing factors to incompetent parents IS this kind of regulation.
That's not a part of this at all. The government would force no one to do this, it's an aid program set up for people that want and need it. The government isn't "deciding every meal of every day"
What Xen said.
If I was a homeless child, I'd take any food I could get regardless where it came from.
So you agree with me.
yeah fuck kids eating school lunch, its their fault for being fat fucks damn
wow are you literally retarded it's any fat person's fault that they are fat
wow are you literally retarded it's any fat person's fault that they are fat
The joke -----> Your head
wow are you literally retarded it's any fat person's fault that they are fat
When a double cheeseburger costs the same as a bottle of water at McDonalds, you may have to start rethinking the cost of healthy living. Not to mention biological issues, "glandular problems" do exist, though it is an excuse half the time. Some people are naturally built thicker, but that doesn't mean they don't try to eat healthy or excercise.
wow are you literally retarded it's any fat person's fault that they are fat
I just want to say, not fucking really you dolt. Parents can spoil their kids, does a kid know to say no? FUCK NO HE DOESN'T. Does your genetics not determine it? Oh, yeah, that's totally fucking right, it does. Yes, careful conscious decisions ARE the best way to keep away from being fat, and are entirely up to a persons own responsibility, BUT AS CHILDREN IT IS NOT THEIR FUCKING FAULT. It's the parents faults at that point. To say otherwise is to make children out to be eligible voters at that age or some bullshit.
Normally I'd be against healthier food, but, the shit they serve at my school is fucking disgusting. It's all high in fat and made by some careless old ladies that don't know how to cook for shit. Also, they got rid of our Gatorade vendors at school and replaced them with terrible, high-fat generic energy drinks.

I think glaber jumped ship when he realised how wrong he was anyway what people have to understand is that this is all going to be at school and therefore there's no one forcing your kids (or you) to eat healthy, it's just another option, and one that's very welcome in my opinion
I read this thread and I see dumb posts like "The Government is becoming a dictatorship by forcing us to eat healthy!!" It's a goddamn aid program not the Collective-State-Operated-Food-Improvement-Plan.
American school food is like the rest of the worlds fast food.
When a double cheeseburger costs the same as a bottle of water at McDonalds, you may have to start rethinking the cost of healthy living. Some people are naturally built thicker, but that doesn't mean they don't try to eat healthy or excercise.
Glandular problems are kind of a moot point. The cost of healthy food does a perfect job of explaining why so many people are unhealthy these days, it really doesn't need other supporting arguments. People say "get off the couch" and fail to realize that they're talking to middle or lower class people who simply cannot afford to eat properly. And if your diet is shit, there really is no amount of exercise that'll make you healthy.
yes it's the parents' fault for making retarded food decisions too and if they're going to make their kids eat fat, make them do some fucking situps
Holy fucking crap are you 10? The parents who feed their fucking kids like that, do not CARE. THAT'S THE FUCKING POINT OF PROGRAMS LIKE THIS.
Holy fucking crap are you 10? The parents who feed their fucking kids like that, do not CARE. THAT'S THE FUCKING POINT OF PROGRAMS LIKE THIS.
Or cannot afford to care, the programs will help them as well.
American school food is like the rest of the worlds fast food.
This also needs emphasis, school food in general is pretty terrible, esp at the lower levels. http://fedupwithschoollunch.blogspot.com/search/label/daily%20school%20lunch%20post This is enlightening and pretty nasty, school teacher documents the daily lunch at her school. Look at that pizza, does that look like something a kid needs to be eating?

Most people brought a lunch or simply walked home to eat, so people were having sandwiches and stuff instead of pizzas and fried chicken. A simple way to help fix this problem is simply to make quality schools more accessible in communities. If there isn't a good middle school within a 45-minute walk, your government is failing you.
