just because some little fatty can't control how many twinkies he eats doesn't mean that i shouldn't be able to get one from a fucking vending machine
You're acting like a fucking retard. How is the "little fatty" going to eat better if his parents can only afford junk and the school offers the same?
just because some little fatty can't control how many twinkies he eats doesn't mean that i shouldn't be able to get one from a fucking vending machine
SOMEBODY's having a sugar meltdown go eat a bag of skittles and quit with the temper tantrums.
SOMEBODY's having a sugar meltdown go eat a bag of skittles and quit with the temper tantrums.
Maybe he can get his parent's butler to bring some skittles into the gated community for him
SOMEBODY's having a sugar meltdown go eat a bag of skittles and quit with the temper tantrums.
More like cyber-PMS.

I know it's futile but I can't help...
The problem is kids not eating or eating poorly. This program aims to feed them/feed them healthier meals. HOW IS THIS NOT A FIX e: I just realized the asinineness of the soup kitchen point. It's the exact same as this, except poorer quality and privately run. It's free as well, and you don't even have to qualify. So why doesn't that create dependence while this does?!
School is available at least 5 days a week. A soup kitchen is not and is run by volunteers.
Yes, you would, because you're fucking homeless. What about the poor kids with a poor family? They collectively can't even eat regularly, why is this program bad? What did Rush Limbaugh tell you to say about this?

RUSH: Michelle My Belle's obesity thing out here. Look at this. It's at AP, Newsbusters, a number of places: "Speaking at Monday's signing ceremony for the 'Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act' --" See, I keep getting confused if today's bill is to stop kids from starving to death or to keep them from getting fat. I still don't know what it's all about. Is it to keep them from starving to death or keep them from getting fat? At any rate, that's not the point. The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act is "a law that will subsidize and regulate what children eat before school, at lunch, after school, and during summer vacations in federally funded school-based feeding programs -- First Lady Michelle Obama said of deciding what American children should eat: 'We can’t just leave it up to the parents.'" We can't just leave it up to the parents. Our First Lady: We can't leave what our kids eat up to their parents. They gotta leave it up to us, Michelle and Barry.
Source: http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_121310/content/01125104.guest.html That's what he said. Direct from his website.
There's this thing called "Summer School". Obviously you've never heard of it because of how overwhelmingly intelligent you are. Honestly, have you never seen a poor person? Is the concept of poverty alien to you or something?
You've never been to Pontiac have you? I have seen homeless people before. I've even volunteered at a soup kitchen and helped at least 2 homeless people with getting lunch. (the second one was in Detriot) I have heard of Summer school too, I've also heard of Year-round school. But to my knowledge, most schools are neither, nor are most schools private, but that's a different matter.
I think glaber jumped ship when he realised how wrong he was anyway what people have to understand is that this is all going to be at school and therefore there's no one forcing your kids (or you) to eat healthy, it's just another option, and one that's very welcome in my opinion
Sorry, I stepped below deck for a moment there.
School is available at least 5 days a week. A soup kitchen is not and is ru-.
Stop. Glaber - what point are you trying to make, again?
i'm lower middle class lol seriously it's not that hard to live healthily
What I'm most concerned about is why the majority of you jumped to insulting Glaber for no reason whatsoever, even though he is probably the most level headed and intelligent conservative poster on Facepunch. I don't care that you disagree with him, I do as well. But why does everyone instantly insult people just because they disagree with their point of view?
School is available at least 5 days a week. A soup kitchen is not and is run by volunteers.
So you're saying soup kitchens are not available at least 5 days a week. [editline]13th December 2010[/editline] Sounds like this law would be a better alternative then.
Glaber - what point are you trying to make, again?
He's a fireman on a steam locomotive that's not even on the tracks. He's not going to stop. He'll just keep on stoking the flames...
i'm lower middle class lol seriously it's not that hard to live healthily
For lower middle class When you get down to welfare level, where there are 4 kids to feed and you get 5.70 an hour it gets really hard. It's easier and cheaper to buy the deep fried no meat combo meal then spend the time and money getting 'healthy' stuff
What I'm most concerned about is why the majority of you jumped to insulting Glaber for no reason whatsoever, even though he is probably the most level headed and intelligent conservative poster on Facepunch.
Oh look, it's Glaber's mother.
I think Glaber is secretly a liberal and is just trying to make the conservatives look bad.
To be honest if we put a little more interest into what kids at school were eating we could probably have better tasting/healthier food for them.
Source: http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_121310/content/01125104.guest.html That's what he said. Direct from his website.
Ok, so once again you totally skip any actually relevant posts you ass, and once again, you post shit that's meaningless. Rush's main point here is that he can't tell if it's for fat kids to get skinny, or feed poor kids, and that "you gotta let the parents choose" as if they're taking away freedoms. And here's where you went full retard, you seem to think that Rush is right in either of those points. His first one is worthless, it's to feed kids healthy food, flat out, that's the point, most parents CAN'T afford healthy food, so they will provide it. And his second point is totally fucking batshit. No one's freedoms are being taken away, YOU STILL HAVE A CHOICE TO NOT GO TO THIS.

It's a good accomplishment but the bar wasn't set very high.

Yeah, he is the laughing stock of conservatives on FP, after some of those ultra conservatives with absolutely no sense.

So a program that's reliable, consistent, and beneficial is worse than one that is unreliable and inconsistent because if you can't eat for free 3-4 days out of the week and go hungry, you won't depend on the program and be a better, more starving person for it. Being fed regularly is bad because you'll get dependent on the feeder, much better to not know if you can get food or not, builds character.
it's easier but is it better
Perhaps it is the only option
it's easier but is it better
No, but not everyone can be as lucky as you are and can choose to eat healthy stuff all the time
I have seen homeless people before. I've even volunteered at a soup kitchen and helped at least 2 homeless people with getting lunch. (the second one was in Detriot)
Bitch, I'm from Chicago. You can't walk 20 steps without being asked for money, bothered for a conversation or asked if you have a candy bar on you. EVERY time I go out there for a meeting I'll order one more pizza than the group needs, order an extra massive platter of fruit, then carry it all on the way back to the car, which is usually a few city blocks. Have you taken in the sight of a homeless man's face when you present him with a meal, albeit cold or stale? The tears that well up because he's eaten nothing but scraps for days on end? I've sat on the sidewalk and shared stories, taken people inside a restaurant for a hot cup of coffee. There is no amount of "wanting to be better" that they can do that will ever improve their life, they are stuck in a rut and probably will be until they die out in those windy alleys. This is why I always try to provide what little I can when I'm out there, because I know there are people who genuinely need the help. It isn't some form of excuse for saying what you do, it is something you do because you know it is right. Now tell me aiding the poor is the wrong thing to do because they can't help themselves.
it's easier but is it better
Holy fucKLDSFHSKDFH I don't even have fucking words for you. These people HAVE to pick the cheapest option merely to survive, fuck anything else. They don't have that option of "better". Healthy food is fucking expensive.

It's easy, it's just 3 jobs and 2 hours of sleep a night, but it's the american dream damnit!
