yeah dude, I too love playing civ 5
"the assassination wasnt a reason for the war, all it did was give justification to start the war"
It could have been any little thing that caused the war. The fact of the matter is, if not for the decades-long buildup of tension and entangled alliances, the assassination of the Archduke would've done precisely fuck all.
lol, this isn't going to cause WW3, but it might cause the EU to actually get their militaries into shape, depending on how things go.
No they fucking don't, they don't really do anything unless someone fires first, look at WW2 for example, they were neutral they didn't want to do shit but then the Germans invaded and they weren't going to tolerate that
[editline]26th February 2014[/editline]
During the Cold War, Russians didn't do shit but supply the Communist supporters with arms to fend off America, they knew having Soviet troops in those countries fighting Americans would set off a war that nobody wanted
Oh, were they neutral when they invaded Poland?
It honestly could be, if you think about how simply some wars have started. The assassination of a duke in Austria caused an entire world war, so why not a civil war between Ukraine and Crimea?
You're a tool if you think assassination caused WW1.

it was the spark that lit the powder keg though.
Filled with ethnic Russians who want to be part of Russia.
That doesn't excuse Russian annexation of it, at all.
it was the spark that lit the powder keg though.
When you're in a warehouse of gunpowder, any spark will set it off. Any single one in particular really is irrelevant.
"the assassination wasnt a reason for the war, all it did was give justification to start the war"
the straw that broke the camel's back isn't the reason your camel is broken
That doesn't excuse Russian annexation of it, at all.
There's no annexation though.
russia loves war, it's in their blood.
There is the matter of american bombing and staging coups but nvm that.

Not really annexation since its not even Historically apart of Ukraine, neither is it culturally. Why not give Northern Ireland back to Ireland when your at it, they'd have more of claim than Ukraine has to Crimea.

Russia is historically part of Poland and Lithuania, should they get Russian land?
Russia is historically part of Poland and Lithuania, should they get Russian land?
You mean the parts around the Border? I don't know if from the Original countrys people still live there but yes. If they people want to be part of those countries and there culturally the same.
Russia is historically part of Poland and Lithuania, should they get Russian land?
What?
What?
I think he means Russia owns bits of Poland and Lithuania, land they didn't return like an area around the Sea in Poland technically belongs to Russia, i think that should be Polish land though.

Yeah, lets give Russia Finland aswell, because Finland was once acctually Russia. Don't you understand how stupid it sounds? We might aswell give Whole fucking Europe back to Germany because they occupied it during World War 2.

What area? Kaliningrad-Koenigsberg? That has nothing to do with Poland. Everything else is either Belarus and Ukraine.
Poland-Lithuania.

Know History of Europe.
That's no excuse really.
By that logic Germany has a right to certain villages in the US that spoke German as their main language even by 1940.

Russia is breaking international treaties and laws
or more historically accurate that germany had the right to occupy the Sudetenland and Austria because both peoples welcomed the nazis
in both cases the nazis weren't a majority but they just forced the rest of their countries to go a long since they had taken power for themselves.
crimea shouldn't be allowed to join russia without at least kiev having a say in this

Actually it was apart of Russia not Ukraine, it was gifted to Ukraine by some president during the fall of the soviets.

Austria didn't welcome the Nazis, what are you talking about? Just because they didn't fight the annexation doesn't mean the population was for it.

Khrushchev was an ethnic Ukrainian, and gave Crimea to the Ukrainian SSR shortly after Stalin's death and his appointment to power in 1954.

That's it thanks
Actually it was apart of Russia not Ukraine, it was gifted to Ukraine by some president during the fall of the soviets.
That would be Khrushchev and it was way before the fall of the Soviet Union, hence why no one has seen it backfiring. If you want to go really fucking down to details, it wasn't really Khrushchev's decision to make at the time, he could only influence it.
In fact, funny as it sounds, it was like a "gift" to USSR (Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic) for some commemoration or something, I don't remember.
russia loves war, it's in their blood.
Russia also belongs to Mongolians and the Tartars.
Russia also belongs to Mongolians and the Tartars.
Please stop it man, for the love of Tartars :v: If anyone, only Mongolians can claim all of Russian territory, and those Mongolians are long gone.
