I now have a phobia of taking a shit in New Zeland
i sorta want one as a pet i'd be plagued with constant fear that it'll lay eggs in my ear or something though
Dear christ that is unsettling.
Wait so it isn't a new species? Darn, I was hoping they were all that big. Well time to mate it until we get an army of these things.
That's a giant weta, that's not new.
Although it was meant to be funny, that totally didn't feel like a good SCP article.
sounds like something Dr. Bright would write :P
Cute and horrifying.
ABANDON EARTH
Oh God, this is why I am apprehensive about visiting the Oceania region. Natives, can you please tell me that you're not overridden with insects and spiders or are they really everywhere?
They're here to keep pussies like you out. I keep big spiders on my wall to fight the other bugs (like mosquitoes). Spiders = affordable pest control
..I want one as a pet. Seriously. Set up a 50 gal aquarium for it.
ABANDON EARTH
And then you see the Lovecraftian horrors that inhabit the depths of Space.

I like crickets, this one is huge but as long as it don't attack me, i am cool with it.
Pure nightmare fuel.
Oh God, this is why I am apprehensive about visiting the Oceania region. Natives, can you please tell me that you're not overridden with insects and spiders or are they really everywhere?
no, the worst you'll probably get is a really fucking irritating fly well here in NZ at least
Or a clown.
It could be a spider and a clown forming maximum terror.
But that's before I start thinking what it must look like when it moves, and then my fucking arachnophobia kicks me in the ass and fucks up what may very well be the coolest thing I'll see before I die (but that's being pessimistic).
And now you know My mind is still attempting to comprehend just how fast the big ones move... I kinda want one.
I'm keeping a flamethrower on me in case someone decides to bring one here.
Read the article, please.
Rats are MANY times bigger than mice.

Hell, take a look at this one (linked for arachnophobes).
I want one. :buddy: I'll have it roam the house and scare the hell out of my family rather than keep it cooked up in a glass container.
Oh God, this is why I am apprehensive about visiting the Oceania region. Natives, can you please tell me that you're not overridden with insects and spiders or are they really everywhere?
Here in NZ, the biggest spiders you'll find are daddy long legs. As for the insects, the only one you'll be remotely afraid of are the cicadas which only move if startled. The wetas aren't as common as houseflies. If you move here, buy one of those robocan things or have an infestation of little spiders and houseflies.
