Apple shipped just 8 new MacBook Pros to Britain, and they're display models, and they got sold
I could only get the most expensive model up to 11.000 and a bit though, not a whopping 16.737. I'd still say Apple's products are more expensive than Alienware's marginally.

That's not really worth double the price of a Dell, though.
I have a Dell laptop and it's steaming pile of plastic shit.
The hardware isn't that terrible, but the case is crap.
Regardless that you didn't select the retina version - I still think the glass trackpad, battery, casing and screen are certainly worth a good deal, they're all so damn good compared to anything else I've ever used.
Yeah... the GLASS trackpad adds so much to the price, obviously.

I used to have the Dell Inspiron 1525 and the hinges snapped within 4 months of having it.
Eh, but you can get other manufacturer's prices up pretty high with accessories. I like to compare similar builds. When I built my laptop 3 years ago the difference was horrible... ~$1000 cheaper than the best MacBook I could build.
You have a desktop that costs 15 grand?
What the fuck is it made out of, solid gold?

I have a Dell myself too and so far I haven't got any problems with the casing at all, I really don't know where all the hate towards Dell is coming from. Still, that's not my point, my point is that the Macbook in that picture has lesser specs than that Dell in that picture and yet it costs double as much. So unless it's made of gold coated with platinum-enhanced diamonds it shouldn't cost that much.

Apple doesn't compete on specs. They compete on user experience. Compare the first run experience of a Mac straight from the factory, to the first run of that Dell straight from the factory and the Mac will be lightyears ahead.

Apple has refined their user experience and ease of workflow far beyond what windows comes standard as.
It's part of a brilliant business strategy. Establishing yourself as a premium and presitge brand, you can then price your products accordingly.
Soon macs will cost you the same as a small car.
I'm not joking, I wish I was. But I'm calling it so hard wilder beasts are returning my calls from here.
It already costs the same as a cheap used car in my country. Hell, it costs even 2 used cars.
And as said, the Mac Pro could once be as expensive as something like the new Camaro.
Also, 4.000€ for a 12 core.
And I just checked some prices from a pc hardware store, and with 3.000€, I could have something better than this, or maybe a bit lower price, maybe even half. Some stuff I just tried to guess the prices and added a few extra euros just to be sure.

I built my state-of-the-art gaming desktop for that much.
HOLY JESUS DICK!
That's more than I payed for my fucking car.
The only Apple product that isn't completely overpriced is the MacBook Air. (It's expensive yeah, but not so much compared to the other ultraportables)
Though, ASUS can also make pretty good ultraportables, such as their Zenbooks.

Hard drive and RAM latencies may differ a bit, but that's not a good excuse for the price difference.
Shame...
What exactly would one pay more for?
Just... Why?
