How many times does this particular scenario of deception need to happen before someone with authority realizes a little legislation is in order.
The judge seems quite biased.
He seems very out of touch with reality and the modern world Not like this didn't happen before
Wow, and you JUST said she shouldn't have life ruining consequences. You don't seem to understand the conflict here. She didn't knowingly try to get someone convicted of a crime they didn't intend She was a sexually irresponsible teenager making a choice she fully believed would not be harmful to anyone involved, not having the knowledge of our justice system to anticipate this trainwreck. She needs advising, not some wackos from across the world clamouring to lock her up and throw away the key.
Facepunch and the internet in general has a lot of contempt for sexually active girls and I'll refrain from speculating why (though I have plenty of guesses). It was worse in the other thread when people wanted a 12 year old girl punished for being exploited by twentysomethings.
Isn't this old news? We already have a topic on this, same exact case.

I understand asking for more level heads but come the fuck on.
This really should be appealed or handed off to another judge given the things he's said on the matter. There is absolutely nothing wrong with casual sex in a legal sense as long as both parties consent.
A person's life is ruined and you claim that people are up in arms because they hate women? I understand asking for more level heads but come the fuck on.
He's saying that people are blaming the girl instead of the legal system because of personal bias.
He's saying that people are blaming the girl instead of the legal system because of personal bias.
All he does is make lazy and vague generalizations, then backpedal his point when people get upset and argue with him.
He's saying that people are blaming the girl instead of the legal system because of personal bias.
Who the fuck blames a 12 year old, they couldn't possibly know they're being malicious as fuck 12 year olds are idiots pfffffffffft
He's saying that people are blaming the girl instead of the legal system because of personal bias.
And is that entirely wrong? Should the girl be given a free pass because she's a stupid kid who doesn't know any better? I'm not so sure, that's a bit of a grey area. People are being too extreme yes, but I fear people like him are wont to claim there is no fault on the girl in qeustion what so ever, especially considering the previous thread he mentioned. Yet when people demand reprimand for this travesty of justice, (too extreme or not) they suddenly hate women. People get extreme when they're get angry, and extremism is a big problem right now, but answering extremism with more extremism is not the answer.

I'm glad the girl is sorry though... Hope both parties get off the hook.
How many times does this particular scenario of deception need to happen before someone with authority realizes a little legislation is in order.
no politician will touch it because it makes them look like a pedophile enabler. theres really no right way to "fix" this issue.

For the record I'm on your side in this case. The kid here is a victim of such a broken legal system (and a biased judge) but once again people are firing shots at the girl who didn't know any better, in this case even writing a letter of apology for her mistakes. They do stupid shit and now she's learned her lesson. Making a teenager a victim of the US justice system is a crime in itself.

What I'm saying is you strike me as the opposite direction, in response to this anger you immediately defend the girl and make such comments as above.
The girl screwed up, but she's 14. They do stupid shit and now she's learned her lesson. To teach her that actions have consequences, even if they're not for her or that she doesn't see them coming? Like someone else was saying, community service would be a slap on the wrist and would probably teach her to think things through better.

Perhaps some sort of system for both of them that fully explains the consequences of what happened and what can happen rather than just what she sees from the boy going through legal hell.
If only you could talk to people personally for once, these days. Makes it just a little easier to tell, but it's helped people in the past.

I'm against punishment because she's just an unwitting participant in the joke that is the legal system. You're saying she needs to "think things through better" but how could she? I doubt she's properly educated on the topic. I am always in support of educating and informing. It would help if we had a sex education that wasn't a complete sham.
Hell in addition to an appeal I'd pursue a contract law lawsuit with the owners of Hot or Not for failing to ensure everyone on there was legal and possibly a countersuit against the girl for perjury.
how should hot or not proceed to do so?
“You went online, to use a fisherman’s expression, trolling for women to meet and have sex with,” he told Anderson. “That seems to be part of our culture now — meet, hook up, have sex, sayonara. The judge needs to be sued for malpractice.
This happens a lot and no one gets caught, glad I'm one of the lucky ones.
This happens a lot and no one gets caught, glad I'm one of the lucky ones.
You know you can't just hint at a story like that, right?

Luckily for me, my city had a very high rate of teenage pregnancy so we got the funding while teaching not-sham.
Can someone get this kid a new judge, one that's hopefully not some rotten old fuck who hates technology? I'm glad the girl at least apologized. Guy down the road from me fucked a 13 year old who claimed and looked 18, got sent to jail, and even as a sex offender is surprisingly and luckily able to raise his kids. I've had a few lie to me, but I always have em buy me beer if they claim to be over 21 or cigs if they claim to be 18. Generally that's about the best way to tell, that or ask someone they know. A girl I know was well known for doing that, she fucked at least 30 guys from age 13-16, most while claiming to be 17-18.
Right I think a presidential pardon and a drone strike are in order.
Isn't this old news? We already have a topic on this, same exact case.
Similar cases, different engagement levels (wasn't ever clear if the 12-year old ever had sex but it's a good chance it was no), different "offender" and girl that obviously shouldn't be punished (even if it's just a termination of her Hot or Not account)!
