1000 player darkRP no rdming
Yay I'm going to be in the Guinness world book of records.
Oh. It takes place at like, three AM over here. What a shame.
I'm happy they will release the code along with their servers (I think, if I read that right). Who knows what kind of extremely cool things we can get out of this? [editline]19th January 2012[/editline] maybe in another year, ten times as much players? Who knows.
1000 player Ricochet calling it now.
I really dont think that they should get the world record as its a one off thing, still dosn't make it any less awesome
I really dont think that they should get the world record as its a one off thing, still dosn't make it any less awesome
Lots of world records are one off things that's why they're records, if they happened all the damn time then they wouldn't be very notable
1000 player cod any area that resembles a chokepoint will have over about 10 explosions per minute continuously.
I just wouldn't call language "tech". Tech is hardware and software, materials, etc. Language is more of a theoretical... language.
Language is technology as well. Even outside programming. Admittedly it's one of the first communication technologies, but it's still there. [editline]20th January 2012[/editline] You could regard the vocal cords as the machinery used.
Doesn't EVE online already best this? Or is that a different concept/method?
If video games are like drugs, this is the overdose.
Doesn't EVE online already best this? Or is that a different concept/method?
i'm assuming EVE works like WoW, or similar. i'm not quite sure how it works but a guess would be that players have an update range and only objects within that range is sent back from the server when you tell the server where you are, your client won't know what some guy is doing 1000 metres away/out of your range. if you take for example counter-strike, every client knows where all the other clients are and what they're doing, probably the same with battlefield/cod

what about Planetside?
.. this hasn't been done before, so no
Reserved a spot for me with the ticket thing. I'll record the entire thing.
1000 player cod any area that resembles a chokepoint will have over about 10 explosions per minute continuously.
10 per minute? dude, you only need 12 players for that, it would be a constant tropical STORM of grenades and rockets storm as in at least 100 grenades flying at every point in time as the bare MINIMUM, CoD is already an intensely spammy and clusterfucked game
Hopefully they'll keep the game running if there's enough demand or release the server files to the game.
1000 player cod any area that resembles a chokepoint will have over about 10 explosions per minute continuously.
You mean per second.
1000 player cod any area that resembles a chokepoint will have over about 10 explosions per minute continuously.
Ok, so where do the players go that is explosion-free? Also, Man better fucking win this. Since it's a one-time only thing, Humanity losing now would mean an eternal defeat! :tinfoil:
1000 player cod any area that resembles a chokepoint will have over about 10 explosions per minute continuously.
That's already a thing, it's battlefields OP metro 64 player conquest large at B flag.
Doesn't EVE online already best this? Or is that a different concept/method?
thing is all those MMOs don't have players in the same general area, they're spread out [editline]20th January 2012[/editline]
That's already a thing, it's battlefields OP metro 64 player conquest large at B flag.
thing is that in one localized area and not the entire map... Regardless 1000 player arma would be nice because of the current structure in place already designed to manage/command large numbers of units (though high command is super-unintuitive)... Except they'll be real players and not NPCs. Then again one of my best experiences in gaming was a proper 64 player BF2 game in which our commander actually commanded.
thing is all those MMOs don't have players in the same general area, they're spread out
Wasn't there once a riot in EVE and everyone was cruising around major stations or some shit and demolishing everything?

Also, Planetside 2 is supposed to support 2000 players.
