The story of Betsy Ross is a total myth, whatever cheery story they told you about making the flag all the way back in 4th grade was a fuckin' lie.
That and with Paul Revere's long night ride across the world.
Why replace on of the great figures, and one of the founding fathers, of the United States? I don't get it.
Because, Josh, this is 2015. And in this time in history, society revolves around feel-good measures instead of actual reforms.
This is basically a way for us to pat ourselves on the back and say, "Look at what a tolerant and progressive country we are! The sexes are equal! Good job guys!", without actually changing anything or addressing serious issues like pay inequality between men and women, the Glass Ceiling, discrimination and harassment in the workplace, parental leave, etc. Because those sorts of changes would require actual commitment and effort on a long-term basis from people. Fuck that; this quick symbolic gesture will allow us to feel good about ourselves and feel like we actually got something done (without actually doing anything of course), and that's all that really matters.
Sacagawea
Let's take her off the $1 gold piece and replace Jackson with her; then we'll put Jackson on the $1 gold piece instead and say we removed the Indian.:v:
I'm surprised we're not replacing Andrew Jackson instead of Hamilton.
Y'know with the Trail of Tears and all. Not exactly something you want in the resume of the guy whose face you see a few times every time you head to the ATM
Aside from the whole genocide thing he was a good guy. Its not like he's the only president on the money to have tons of natives killed.
RuPaul
All your notes look the same anyway
I still maintain that Jefferson Davis belongs on a bill. He was the foremost leader of the Confederacy, and, as we all know, his losing the Civil War had an enormous impact on the shape of the US government- it ensured, once and for all, that the Federal government would reign supreme over the states.
And as an added bonus, he and Abraham Lincoln could stare each other down in people's wallets
If it hadn't been for Adolf Hitler, the European Union almost certainly wouldn't exist in its current form, but I somehow doubt they're going to shove his mug on the Euro.

Fuck, just realised that I did a Godwin.
I want someone connected to aerospace on it. Amelia Earheart, for example.

It would be frikkin' hilarious if they did, though. Put a caption around it saying 'Thanks for setting the groundwork!' or 'You did do one thing right'.
I really don't think we've ever been this politically tense (other than around the civil war) before. I'm not saying it will happen, I'm saying in the current climate, it has the potential to blow up.
I would rather Sacagawea.
Imagine the chaos of the government trying to pronounce the name.
finally, US currency really needs these. The current system for blind people is that different denominations are folded in different ways but the problem is that it takes a long time for someone to fold all the bills in a wallet. The alternative results in the blind person being scammed.
Lot of bills in Europe have braille markers. I think that's a great idea.
What I'm against is different sized bills. That is the most annoying shit to deal with when you are trying to sort a wallet. It's impossible to tell if you have a random 1 in between a pair of 50s without splitting everything apart.

"New song coming out in the Hip Hop scene: "All about the Sacagaweas""
They should send a guy to a random building in DC, and have him wait for a woman. The first one he sees, he takes a picture of and they use that as the replacement. Bam.
wow fuck this
alexander hamilton was one of the most important founding fathers because he was the chief federalist
andrew jackson was a near-war criminal who ruined american politics forever and ever
put her on the 20

So would this new 10 dollar bill be worth 7 dollars?
Theodore Roosevelt was badass. But I prefer JFK since he was the last president that was actually voted in democratically.
But chances are the federal reserve will just cop out and just make the new face "you" with uncle sam pointing to you giving you a heliographic wink and smile.

We've had Sacagawea dollar coins for decades.

I will admit it's a bit odd to be agreeing with your sentiment when I live less than fifty miles from his home and have actually walked through his living room before. :v:
Don't forget grace Hooper invented early some early computer languages and also spent her later years fixing them for the military after they screwed them up
If it's an internet vote, 4chan's gonna rig it.
Need more Native Americans on your bills imo.
This would be MUCH better than just some old bitch that nobody knows, I mean at least put Sacajawea on it.
What if we could fit two people on one bill with each bill having a theme for accomplishments? Like Rosa Parks or Madame CJ Walker (Bonus points if they even mentioned her in your history class) and MLK? :v:
Same with the presidents, maybe Washington and Lincoln?
Not sure if they still issue paper bonds, but I remember many of them having MLK's portrait on them.
Rule 63 Andrew Hamilton Guys :v:
You've all forgotten the single most important American woman to ever live.

I still think we should replace Ulysses S. grant on the $50 with someone else.
The Grant administration was less than stellar.
Beyonce is on there.
Might as well throw in Katy Perry or Miley Cyrus too.
Feels like a cop out.
does it?

millard filmore would be a good replacement, except he's already cornered the soap-on-a-rope market

Regardless of how it changes I'm gonna need to put some 10's away for when they do change.
Put Sacajawea on it.

I imagine he's on there due to his victories in the war, not his alcoholic presidency.
