I hope porn companies jump on this
I'm going to remove all pictures of my face and only put pictures of my ass and dick so they have to use those.
You're the one that reviewed the product in the first place.
A review is not consent to post my face and opinions all over the fucking place
Anyone know any alternatives to Gmail? I am tired of them with all there youtube shit and now this, the only reason I use it because it was easy to setup but christ has it gotten bad over the years.
bitch im gonna be famous
This is basically like 'share' on facebook.
This is basically like 'share' on facebook.
It's more like when "X liked this" shows up.
Example:

Thus is why I stopped liking things on Facebook and generally stopped using Facebook for anything that isn't messaging
It's growing very rapidly, especially as Google has all their services tied together.
Its not growing. it's signing on users whether they want it or not. Stuff like merging youtube and g+ accounts and others.
We want to give you – and your friends and connections – the most useful information. Recommendations from people you know can really help. So your friends, family and others may see your Profile name and photo, and content like the reviews you share or the ads you +1’d. This only happens when you take an action (things like +1’ing, commenting or following) – and the only people who see it are the people you’ve chosen to share that content with. On Google, you’re in control of what you share. This update to our Terms of Service doesn’t change in any way who you’ve shared things with in the past or your ability to control who you want to share things with in the future.
Feedback from people you know can save you time and improve results for you and your friends across all Google services, including Search, Maps, Play and in advertising. For example, your friends might see that you rated an album 4 stars on the band’s Google Play page. And the +1 you gave your favorite local bakery could be included in an ad that the bakery runs through Google. We call these recommendations shared endorsements and you can learn more about them here.
...
If you previously told Google that you did not want your +1’s to appear in ads, then of course we’ll continue to respect that choice as a part of this updated setting. For users under 18, their actions won’t appear in shared endorsements in ads and certain other contexts.

Adblock plus couldn't care
Except Google is known to pay Adblock Plus to whitelist their ads.
I feel like there should be a law against this default-opt-in attitude, or you know.. a maybe a bit of common sense from companies that it's the wrong thing to do.
Goodbye privacy. It was fun while it lasted.
Google+ really seems to bring out the worst in Google.
Want to use my face for ads?
Haha, good luck selling anything with my face.
I feel like a lot of people are taking this at face value without actually knowing what it is.

I.E. getting fooled by a Gizmodo headline.
As if they wouldn't collect the data anyway
Yeah it's pretty horrendous that google collects data from when you click +1, a google function, into an ad displayed by google

They could sell beauty cream.
"don't want to look like this? Buy our product"
Breaking: reviews you explicitly mark as being public used in public places
Everyone in here could use a google ad for a service that teaches you how to read I think
https://plus.google.com/settings/endorsements?hl=en Just don't opt in?
There's an example of the shared endorsement there. No different then seeing your G+ avatar on a Play Store app review.
Every article is saying this is opt-out but when I started chrome this morning there was a notification about a Terms of Service change, which lead me to the Shared Endorsements page, where the checkbox was unticked

You have to be the one to opt-out, inaction is perceived as permission granted.
All this really does is when there's a google ad for a product you liked or something, it will say so to your friends and your friend only. Facebook has been doing this with groups and their ads for a while, and they don't even let you opt out.
wow i honestly don't give a shit
i can safely say that this is not a big deal at all
Opt in is a dumb attitude anyway. Imagine if borrowing worked that way.
"I didn't steal it officer, I'm just borrowing it. He never said I couldn't."
No one would want to use my face in an ad anyway
Even for those that never look at privacy settings so this is enabled, if you never +1 or review anything then you'll never be tied to an ad anyway.
Google is asking for permission only to put the recommendations you've already made next to products when your friends see them.
It's all explained here, and the opt out box is here too

Here's the actual page to opt out
A review is not consent to post my face and opinions all over the fucking place
But it is, read the ToS. Not to mention only people who can already see your face will be able to see it.

Except you did give them permission to use the Data, that's why they're changing the ToS.
These ads only appear to your friends and they're only for things you 1+ and Review which they would be able to see anyway.
