Holy Christ. Where's my game informer issue? I want some detailed info on this NOW!!! Also a stand alone release? Holy shit, does this mean the game is gonna be longer than 2-3 hours now? I can officially say that my mind has been blown. Brb gentleman, getting money ready for pre-order. :D
Interesting theory here:
The third time I loaded up the boss battle, my wife finally saw what I had been seeing all along, and what we saw fits with GlaDOS’s behavior throughout the game. I don’t think her end goal was to kill Chell. I mean, yes, to get Chell to do what she needed Chell to do, she had to make it hard, if not insanely difficult. Otherwise Chell wouldn’t want to do what GlaDOS needed her to do. I think GlaDOS’s end goal was to get Chell to kill GlaDOS’s body. I think she’s been reviving Chell’s clones over and over and over ’till one of the Chells can get it right and finally knock the eyes off of GlaDOS and free her from her bondage of this giant body the humans put her in originally. I think GlaDOS has simply wanted to be free this whole time, and killed off the original inhabitants of the Aperture Science Lab in order to further this goal. They certainly wouldn’t let her mess with Chell, pushing her to the limits to “destroy” the prison that GlaDOS has been suffering in this whole time if they were around, now, would they?
Alright, alright, alright. So, I guess I'll chip in my two bits here. With the changed ending to Portal, Chell is carried off to a stasis pod by Wheatly (we already know there are robots, so what prevents him from being one?) where Chell remains in Stasis for hundreds of years. Now, I'm going on a small tangent here, but if the Earth is still around, and not completely industrialized, that would mean the rebels beat back the Combine, no? But anyway, back to my original idea. So Chell is woken up from stasis (I'm not even sure on the cause for this) by Wheatly, where she is reoriented with the Portal Gun/Portal physics. Running through a few simulations, she comes face to face with GLaDOS, and that helps to further the story into whatever it becomes later. I'm hoping co-op helps to explain the events before Portal 2, however. But anyway, this is just one of many postulations on what the story of Portal 2 may be like. I could be right, I could be entirely off.
- Music will play a bigger role this time around. Players will find new songs throughout the game through various means.
I hope they dont over do it *cough* 'Splosion Man *cough*
I'm just waiting to preorder this
I hope there is something for Multiplayer other than a co-op campaign. Deathmatch would be cool. :v: [editline]05:24PM[/editline]
Gordon isn't mute. He has no voice actor. No one acts like he can't talk.
Except mutes
Hundreds of years? HUNDREDS OF YEARS!?! :psyboom:

this could give clues into how the ending of ep3 goes down
Awesome. We're one step closer to EP3 too. I'll definitely get this once it comes out. Portal was one of my favorite game from the OB. One question remains. Will the companion cube make a return although it was incinerated? [editline]09:55AM[/editline] Maybe it's twin can have the role.

wait wait what... 100 years apart... thats not right... [editline]06:05PM[/editline] I mean if black mesa was competing against aperture science in the first game, then it wasn't too far away from the invasion... it takes shortly after half life 2... from the start of the mesa events to the end of half life 2 is about 20-30 years... not a hundred so how the HELL could it take 100 years apart and still be close to half life 2.... [editline]06:07PM[/editline] the founder of portal was or is a facepuncher by the way.
wait wait what... 100 years apart... thats not right...
It could be Valve just trolling us, again. Non-Discriminatory Entrance Port might be a good thing to go through eh? Well, as long as our favorite actress from TF2, Portal, and Half-Life is there, Portal 2 is going to be epic.
:aaa: HOLY SHIT :byodood:
Wheatley must be that German sounding robot at the end of Portal 1
Theories so far on chell that I have come up with: A. She, herself, is an android and can live forever B. She is a clone that has been run through the facility many times before and has left clues for her own escape. C. GMan may of put her in stasis. D. Wheatley (who I can only guess is that robot at the end of Portal right now) decides to save Chell and put her in some stasis machine.
Too bad you can't go and see the ruins of Black Mesa in Portal 2.
If Chell has no jumpsuit does that mean.......
Well, it's probably just Gordon who's mute. His descendants would almost definitely speak.
He isn't really mute, they just don't have him speak so the player feels more submerged in the game so they don't get distracted by the player's voice being different then their own. It's valve's method of making the player feel like he/she is in the game. [editline]12:19PM[/editline]
If Chell has no jumpsuit does that mean.......
She has one, it's just a different style.
Too bad you can't go and see the ruins of Black Mesa in Portal 2.
Who said you couldn't? :smug:
- Wheatley, fed up with his rather limited lifestyle promises to aid Chell in her escape if she helps "him" :smug:
All the paint and stuff sounds like it's overcomplicating the concept to me
No it isnt. They stole it right from this game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyxZ9Agav9Y [editline]06:30PM[/editline]
But if the paint "reacts to portal physics" it suggests you'll be able to move the paint around to rech other places.
It means you can fire paint through portals. They are obviously ripping off power of paint.
Are you a dev for that game because you seem awfully upset with Valve using a similar idea.
I wish Valve would get their priorities straight. I think most of us want EP3, however I'm not complain. Portal 2 all the way!
No it isnt. They stole it right from this game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyxZ9Agav9Y [editline]06:30PM[/editline] It means you can fire paint through portals. (Portal/Narbacular Drop team) I can't find anything about the team though. Anybody knowing what the team is doing now?
Are you a dev for that game because you seem awfully upset with Valve using a similar idea.
I'm not upset at all, I think it will be fun as fuck. Just letting people know where they stole the idea from.
You say "stole" like if valve was full of jerks
I agree with OrDnAs. Now edit your post to say "got the idea from".
I want system req's.
"Oh, it's you. It's been a long time. How have you been? I've been really busy being dead. You know, after you murdered me? (...) Okay look, we both said a lot of things that you are going to regret. But I think we should put our differences behind us. For science. You monster." Brilliant.
