It's the least worst system we have to date. I'm happy that I live in such a world.
This is the sort of wank philosophy bullshit where some old guy writes a book about how peoples lives are better than before, but at what cost to our morals and ideals and spirituality and faith.
Fact is, life is never better than before. If going by improvements in living standards, health, medical, education, social progress as women rise, better treatment of the invalids and poor, improving access to education, improving media overall, then the world is a much better place.
Out of the past 150,000 years of the human, now is the best possible time to be one.
i don't think life was better before. and i don't care how much better life is now. the past is irrelevant you never lived it i never lived it it's gone forever we have now and we have the future and i don't like where the future is heading.
So I'm looking at the KFA official page.
That's not "connections in the country". Those are a bunch of representatives paid to tell you that North Korea is a good place. They are PR guys for the country.
not much point in living longer and living better when you're living for nothing

Why is it that having seen little but upward progress in the past, are we to expect societal decline in the future?
I embrace the future with open arms, and I don't care for all the people who are seeing only the difficulties (some invented) and none of the opportunities.

Sounds like you have depression.
Same page.
They are still just advertising the country, and from what it sounds like, they are just showing Pyongyang, and not much else.
it's meaningless to look at the present and say, well it's better than the past at least! you haven't experienced the past so it's irrelevant, what you experience now is what matters. i want a better future than what i see happening

So the past years of your life you live don't count?
Same page.
That LITERALLY just reinforces what he just said.
It's a show-organization with objectively no merit.
If you want a better future you will have to do it yourself.

that's not even what you're saying though you're looking at 150thousand years of human life

Except in my life I've seen 660 million people move above the poverty line, I can get married to men and adopt children, the creation and growth of practically the entire internet has happened in my life as well, and more and more countries are enacting social and economic reforms to better the lot of most people.
Like it or not, the world is constantly changing, and over the past 20 years it's still been generally on an upward swing.
They are still just advertising the country, and from what it sounds like, they are just showing Pyongyang, and not much else.
The level of interaction with DPRK officials is quite similar to this:

While i am in a rather odd spot (not attached to a branch) i have still been able to attend events similar to the one in the video.
Both the officials and the interaction that you have with them is quite real.

yeah see here's the problem what you see as good things i'm seeing as bad... just kidding. well i don't know what you want me to say, these big societal shifts don't affect me, they haven't affected people i know. from what i see society is still fucked, and it's getting worse. maybe your country is luckier than mine? maybe it's just different thinking, i think alot more locally
I think the real problem here for RAYHALO is that he is scared. He's obviously young and about to enter a society he doesn't understand. He's having an existential crisis like countless others before him, trying to find a place for himself in a massive world that is a lot harder than anything he has faced before. And it scares him, its a monolithic change from how simple things were, just going to school and such, and he's struggling to adapt. And because he hasn't really adjust and adapted yet, he's trying to run away from it all to find something simpler and easier. He's scared of how complex and massive society is and afraid of failing in it, so he looks to someplace he feels he won't have to worry about this.
It happens to plenty of people who have trouble adjusting to life, they run off and try to escape from everything, only to run in to something far worse than what they were running from.

because your way of looking at good seems silly to me. oh more people are living longer and better? well that's dandy for them. i don't see me living any better, i don't see the people around me living any better. it's complacent to just say 'well everythings been getting gradually better and it no doubt will continue to'

i guess it does. i don't see the point in sweeping societal changes if they aren't actually benefiting myself and the people around me

I think the real problem here for Doctor Zedacon is that he is condescending. He's obviously young and has an over bloated sense of his own intelligence and is facing the opinions and thought processes he doesn't understand.

How actually fucking dare you psychoanalyze people who you know literally nothing about. You're literally the most disgusting human being on this forum right now. And I said that about Rayhalo before he was banned.

Go away.
Seriously you've got 10k+ posts and been here for so long yet you pull shit like that.
I'd be too ashamed to post for a month.

Rayhalo is just someone who did some 'research' and from the results he formed his own opinions. You can't be so pathetic as to act all condescending and superior in this situation.
I'd be so ashamed if I was in your position.

This is basically the same as dismissing holocaust because you did some 'research' and formed your own opinion. I don't know why anyone would defend RAYHALO's stance on this, like, ever, whether it's his opinion or not.
Sure, I respect that he has the right to have that opinion, but I don't respect him at all.
I'm honestly quite offended.
How do you explain the thousands of North Korean refugees who have nothing but awful things to say about living in that country? I can accept that some of the medias reports on North Korea are exaggerated, but do you think the missile testings and the "We want to bomb America and South Korea." statements are false?
Have you seen any of Vice's videos on North Korea? They are literally spoon-fed propaganda and their hands are held by government agents acting as tour guides the whole time and they still can't make the country look anything nicer than backwards, xenophobic, and repressive at the very least. I've read dozens of auto-biographies from North Korean refugees and not one of them has anything good to say about anything.
Do you deny all of these things, even firsthand accounts, as lies from the media? If you do, well, I guess North Korea IS the ideal place for you.
yeah see here's the problem what you see as good things i'm seeing as bad... just kidding. well i don't know what you want me to say, these big societal shifts don't affect me, they haven't affected people i know. from what i see society is still fucked, and it's getting worse. maybe your country is luckier than mine? maybe it's just different thinking, i think alot more locally
For a lot of people, life is better.
If I was transported back in time back to the day I was born, I would find it moderately distressing because both the lack of internet and more hostility to my sexual and gender identity. Plus there would be a lot of people claiming they could cure me, for they would see my mental condition as practically a disease.
For material wellbeing, we are doing better off. You live in an age where the internet has risen out of nothing in practically a single generation and revolutionized just about everything.
If you want an idea of how much progress we have seen in a single lifetime, just go find a place where they still refer to blacks as niggers and they have no internet and feminism is hated because women aren't seen as mentally stable enough to vote.
Can we go back to the North Korea discussion?

It doesn't matter. I don't respect his opinion but I will also defend him if some idiot comes along belittling him for holding them.

once rayhalo comes back and starts arguing then we can continue until then the thread is p. much intellectually dead.
You know, with the OP being pure propaganda and all.
