Isn't Pickman's Model from a collaboration effort which was a tribute to Lovecraft's work? Besides that i think you guys should just calm the fuck down due to the fact the girl is not Nyarlathotep but is a mere homage :colbert:
Nah, Lovecraft vintage 1927
Can someone just show me what other Lovecraftian stuff the Japs slaughtered so I can have my daily dose of rage against weeabooism
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saya_no_uta I hope you have a good time
The man(lovecraft) was a racist mingebag anyway, and he would likely have nasty things to say about the japanese anyway. So, on the balance of things, I lul'd.
He's a good author, but the whole Oh-God-some-sort-of-hideous-beast-is-coming-to-get-me-Ia!-Ia!-gets-eaten story pattern means you can't really read more than one story in a sitting. My favourite story of his is probably "Pickman's Model" which could in part be because the scary eats-the-universe monster is never encountered in the flesh.
Er, Cool Air? Thing on the Doorstep? The Silver Key? The Rats in the Walls? Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath? The Cats of Ulthar? Quest of Iranon? The Shadow Out of Time?
Er, Cool Air? Thing on the Doorstep? The Silver Key? The Rats in the Walls? Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath? The Cats of Ulthar? Quest of Iranon? The Shadow Out of Time?
He was a prolific author.
Well at least in Hellsing, the vampire was named Alucard, just to show it's a tribute. I wonder if Lovecraft's characters got the same treatment. Nobody would ever notice. [editline]07:10PM[/editline] Petohtalrayn? [editline]07:10PM[/editline] Sounds like a medicine
Alucard is from The Son of Dracula. [editline]05:17PM[/editline]
He was a prolific author.
And none of those stories had the plot line you mentioned. In some of them the only danger is completely imagined. In at least three of them the entire story is, within the confines of the story, completely imagined. And none of those are about running from Shoggoths or killing the son of Dagon. I'd say those stories are actually in a minority if anything.
Well at least looking at it still induces insanity.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saya_no_uta/ I hope you have a good time
That looks like a mindfuck.
Yo, check yoself before yo wreck yoself. Lovecraft's works were great. Just because the big words and new terms boggle your tiny wikkle bwain doesn't mean they suck. Anime, though, I won't disagree with.
ive read some of his stuff it's nothing more than depressed fanboy bullshit hyping it it does not live up to its name

"anime is bad!" :bandwagon:
Now this is complete bullshit eviscerating the entirety of Lovecraft's works just for some dumb ass anime show? Fucking revolting, not is it blatant copyright infringement, but fucking plagiarism. Whomever decided this must have absolutely no ability to come up with content for themselves; and resorts to stealing from one of the greatest writers of history in order to make his show seem watchable.
Not always. Atleast with anime, it brings some life to imagination once in a while :pervert:. But at younger age, yeah.
What the hell is Minney doing there, she has nothing to do with anime. TRIIIIIPLEEE... AUTOMEEEEERGE... BREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAKEEEEEEEEEEEEER! Read that like some anime super attack(think TTGL). On a side note,Cthulhu(ftaghn ftaghn bla bla bla)would be interesting to see in this.

JohnnyMo probably got a Heart attack.
A Lovecraft Anime? I suppose I'll look at it and see how it is. Who knows, it might actually turn out goo- I mean, yeah anime sucks! *cough*

ugh reading 2 pages of people who didnt read the article i shall rate you all books ALL BOOKS I SAY
ITT: People think some Japs are recreating Nyarlathotep in some anime form, when in fact all they did was use the name.
Even if that's true, it's still a shit move. Even if it's an easter egg or in-joke the writers threw in, not that many people would even get it. I don't think Lovecraft's works have even been translated into Japanese. A Google search for "ニャルラトホテプ" (what I believe is the Kanji spelling of "Nyarlathotep") returns under 21,000 results.
Even though I'm a fan of Anime, I'm having issues wrapping my head around this. Somewhere between :aaaaa: and :wtf: and :suicide: right now...
awesome
It's just the name, who cares.
Still haven't touched The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy :v: All is well and good in my world.
I haven't read any of HP Lovecrafts books, are they any good?
This is just... wow, why? How has Johnny not posted in here yet
I haven't read any of HP Lovecrafts books, are they any good?
They are simply amazing. I highly recommend reading them.
