The fans will be crushed. I hope Cameron isn't under too much pressure.
"Anything for a buck"
What, so the makers of shit like "Paprika" were actually designing the movie to be as market friendly as possible?
Terrible, terrible idea. This will end in disaster. Repeat excursions into the Challenger Deep will awaken the unspeakable horrors that have slept undisturbed for millenniums in the watery darkness. Humanity will be doomed. Or he gets the footage he needs for the Avatar sequel and the movie actually gets made. Not sure which is worse.
Didn't the Cloverfield monster come from the Mariana Trench?
Dammit James! I wanted to be the 3rd person to reach the Challenger! :argh: He's not going to find much there. The Challenger deep has zero visibility. He's going to have to take tons of lighting down there unless he wants to film 5 feet of brown mud. [editline]09:11PM[/editline] That's pretty much it.
Waterworld is widely believed to be one of the worst movies of our time. Also, does this mean that Humanity is coming back? I hope they win this time. I think the only people that didn't want Humanity to win was James Cameron and the Avatards.
I think they should have just made peace and traded our alcohol and other various goods for said unobtainium. Could have saved a lot of fucking trouble in the first place. Plus it would have been far cheaper.

I just saw something on Animal Planet last week talking about the Pacific Ocean, and I remember the segment about this place had discussions about life there, but I can't remember if it was life they found just on the descent, or at the bottom as well.

It's just if James wants to film a sequel to Avatar, he's going to be wasting his time. Surely not action flick material down there. All the cool biolumenecent "alien" shit you see are no where near the bottom. Those things have no skeletons and never come in contact with a hard surface in their life. Most he'll come across would probably be some undersea vent stuff. Or the occasional deep sea anemone.
I don't think he is doing it for the money. It is going to cost more than 10 million to build a manned submersible that can dive that deep.
I don't think he is doing it for the money. The Trieste was first launched in 53' and was not much more than a steel sphere and a giant tank of gasoline for buoyancy.
Why can't he just use his imagination (Or slap extra legs/tentacles/fins on already existing creatures) instead of observing mud?
Why can't he just use his imagination (Or slap extra legs/tentacles/fins on already existing creatures) instead of observing mud?
Because James Cameron's ego is what sank the Titanic.
Oh wow, a sequel announced before it was even re-released in theaters. I liked Avatar but this is just milking it.
I never understood why we can travel to another planet and mine it but cannot simply bomb it from orbit. Hell even crashing a big rock into it via redirecting it would work.
god damnit james cameron you make me hate you by making stuff like avatar that the fanbase gets fucking nuts about then you make me think your awesome by attempting to build a sub that can go really deep into the marinana trench. Stop that james
I never understood why we can travel to another planet and mine it but cannot simply bomb it from orbit. Hell even crashing a big rock into it via redirecting it would work.
Shush! That actually makes sense and wouldn't make any money!
I like the ocean because it's full of demons and unholy monstrosities, a lot like mid cambrian explosion life. All fucked up and backwards and disturbing, I love it. Certainly more than dogs. Fuck dogs, I want a pet one of these things. I'll stick it in a red wheelbarrow and walk it around and call it herbert.
If I had about 5 million dollars I'd build a duel hull remake of the Trieste but with two larger pressure vessels. That thing was so simple, but it served its purpose excellently. Though the window cracked about half way down, but that can be fixed with modern technology.

Damn it James Cameron needs to seriously get his ass in gear with that Battle Angel movie he's supposed to be making.
Why can't he just use his imagination (Or slap extra legs/tentacles/fins on already existing creatures) instead of observing mud?
Because he has no imagination and is in fact a very boring person, much like George Lucas. Only where Lucas is stupid and childish Cameron is egotistical and violent.
Just start worshiping Richard Branson, he's perfect.
He is truly the happiest man alive. :allears:
Damn it James Cameron needs to seriously get his ass in gear with that Battle Angel movie he's supposed to be making.
Canceled it I think, to make way for Avatars 2 and 3.
Canceled it I think, to make way for Avatars 2 and 3.
Eh I didn't think it was cancelled just pushed back. I thought I read somewhere that before Avatar was made his next film was sort of up in the air between Battle Angel and Avatar. From what I understand he went with Avatar because he wanted to develop and perfect the technology that was going to be used to film Battle Angel.
Doees he really need 10 million dollars? someone with talent could use that money.
Did you really just say James Cameron has no talent? Wow [editline]10:00PM[/editline]
terminator 2 sucked compared to terminator 1, and that's only because he stole everything in terminator 1 from old sci fi shows that were written by better writers than him.
No it's pretty much generally accepted that T2 is better than T1 [editline]10:00PM[/editline] And uh, it isn't like you need to be original to be a good writer, just gotta do things better. See: Shakespeare & his Romeo & Juliet
All form of arts anymore is just for money. Movies, music, paintings. Who cares about their abstract ideas and impressions and beliefs they represent or express. If it makes money, then you do it. If it doesn't, it's not worth doing. The culture of the world is slowly dying.
Wow, that's the most cynical thing I've ever heard. Because nobody these days makes art because they like to make art :downs:

Both are quite sorely and provably wrong. Yes. Which is why Terminator 2 is inferior to Terminator.
