18
I thought so.
Why? Because I have a hard enough time making a living for myself and I have a problem with my tax money goes to giving criminals a warm place to sleep, food on their plate, and clothing to wear?
They have rights. Everyone else has to pay the tax, so why do you think you should be an exception?
The state of Arizona is forced to pay over $22,535 per prisoner a year, with thousands serving life-sentences. That's $61.74 a day, per prisoner. There are over 40,523 prisoners in the Arizona prison system as of June, 2010. That means over $913,189,857 is spent every year on the Arizona prison system alone. I'm okay with this. I don't understand the logic behind saying there are harsh conditions in a prison I mean holy shit it's a fucking prison, these people did something to deserve being put in there and I think that since they are a huge drain on the government they deserve what they get Yes, maybe people who commit minor crimes do not deserve this, but I say charge rapists and murderers as much as you can to keep them in there, because they deserve it
What happens if they don't pay? They go to jail? Kicked out?
"We release them back to their home county at an unspecified date and location." Seriously though, that is a good question. Maybe they get charged for it and have to spend extra jail time after their sentence is up?
They have rights. Everyone else has to pay the tax, so why do you think you should be an exception?
I'm not saying I should be an exception I'm simply stating that I think this is a good idea and I gave my reason why. And yes they have rights and this does not violate them.
I'm not saying I should be an exception I'm simply stating that I think this is a good idea and I gave my reason why. And yes they have rights and this does not violate them.
You probably wouldn't have to pay so much tax if the prison system wasn't so broken.
christ people read the article
Prisoners with no assets will not have to pay, but the county has the ability to garnish wages and place liens on homes under the ordinance, which goes into effect this week.
They don't go to fucking jail for not being able to pay for jail; the government starts taking money from their wages when they get out and place liens on their homes meaning they no longer own their homes until the debt is paid.
Don't do the crime if you can't do the time. I am borderline poverty level and you don't see me going and breaking laws because I'm low income. I work any job I can find to make an honest living whether it be throwing hay or milking the cows for a farmer.
RustySpannerz;33693855']Do they also have to pay? ...Prisonception?
Due to space issues prisoners who get to the fourth level sub-prison have to remain there permanently, on account of being optimised for storage using non-reversible grinder-based methods.
I mean holy shit it's a fucking prison, these people did something to deserve being put in there and I think that since they are a huge drain on the government they deserve what they get
You can't just make all jails fucking horrific, yeah it acts as a deterrent, I guess, but some people are in there for low level crime. These are fucking people, you idiot. Not animals.
Wow, so not only do you lose years of your life spent in prison, but the state makes sure you're financially ruined for the rest of your miserable life once you finally get out.
Don't worry, once out, due to their financial situation the former prisoners are sure to immediately turn back to crime and thus end up back in prison.
Now have even less when you leave jail!
I wouldn't be surprised if this sort of practice eventually ended up becoming the rule rather than the exception, seeing as how abysmal and ass-backwards the US prison system is.
support entirely
I thought so.
What does that matter? I still am taxed out the ass just like every other New Yorker.
Don't worry, once out, due to their financial situation the former prisoners are sure to immediately turn back to crime and thus end up back in prison.
Which means more money for dickheads and more debt for them.
What does that matter? I still am taxed out the ass just like every other New Yorker.
Yeah, so why not complain for a fairer tax on the rich that would improve prisons, hopefully provide better living conditions for some and lower crimes rather than just insisting these people get locked up, lose their homes and commit more crime. "I'm poor and I don't do crimes therefore everyone who does crimes are just lazy". "Don't do the crime if you can't do the time"? The "time" shouldn't involve a bunch of officers beating the living fuck out of you for no reason whatsoever.
forfeited any and all rights they had under the US Constitution
nope, try again
I have read the thread, and am still confused as to some of the specifics. If you wanted to be helpful, stop spamming and contribute.
I don't believe I was spamming, I believe you asked for a source regarding private prisons and I had posted one and you had failed to notice. I've contributed fine thanks but I'll be sure to check with you next time. Edited: I mean the time after this.

And there is no excuse for being a criminal, you broke the law and you are paying for it. And well they wouldnt lose their shit if they didnt break the law in the first place. Yes I want more of a tax on the rich but I still don't think I should have to pay for other peoples crimes. [editline]12th December 2011[/editline] You guys are maiking it sound like the prisoners are your best friends who got a life sentence for jaywalking. Most criminals are just that criminals and should be treated as such. Some people just belong in prison. Sorry but that is a fact of life.
So basicly > You have little to none money > Commit crime > Go to prison > Be forced to commit crimes again because prison took all your money Nice thinking
hey, y'all know how poor people are more likely to commit crimes because of the way poverty strips them of other opportunities? well, let's make them even poorer
So basicly > You have little to none money > Commit crime > Go to prison > Be forced to commit crimes again because prison took all your money Nice thinking
You know there are other ways to get money, it's called getting a job. I don't care how bad the economy is there is always some where you can work to get money even if it's cleaning bathrooms or working as a grabage truck driver.
Some people just belong in prison. Sorry but that is a fact of life.
wow, thats some wise wisdom there mr internet sage but tell me, grandmaster, how do you account for thbbbbbt
