Michael Schumacher, seven-time Formula 1 world champion, is in a "critical condition" after a skiing accident, says the French hospital at which he is being treated. The 44-year-old German "was suffering a serious brain trauma with coma on his arrival" the hospital in the south-east city of Grenoble said in a statement. Schumacher's management confirmed his critical condition, reports said. He was skiing off-piste with his son in the Alps when the accident occurred. Schumacher was wearing a helmet when he fell and hit his head against a rock, Meribel resort director Christophe Gernignon-Lecomte said earlier. Early reports had said his condition was not life-threatening.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-25545993 Not good. Hope he pulls through this.
Goddamnit Gute besserung schumi :(
oh fuck no. :(
I hope he recovers
Oh Scheisse, I hope he feels better soon. [editline]30th December 2013[/editline] I'm still a fan of him :(
This is a race he must win.
His condition is not critical.... Media bullshit to get views.. Sorry people... I read it few hours ago then I did not know that he has an internal bleeding.
Kind of ironic that he survived all the dangerous high-speed racing just to maybe die from skiing.
His condition is not critical.... Media bullshit to get views
It wasn't at first, but after few hours he lost his conscious and is now in coma. It definitely is life-threatening, stop bullshitting.
Oh no :(
Kind of ironic that he survived all the dangerous high-speed racing just to maybe die from skiing.
To be honest, after Senna's accident and with today's technology, Formula 1 racing is much more safer than skiing.
looks like he's forumla done
To be honest, after Senna's accident and with today's technology, Formula 1 racing is much more safer than skiing.
While it is much more safer than it used to be, there is still a chance that dreadful accidents can happen in the Formula One. Schumacher himself came in Abu Dhabi 2010 frighteningly close of having another car landing straight into the cockpit, even if it was at a relatively slow speed. And Grosjean's starting crash in Belgium 2012, where Alonso came within centimeters of getting decapitated by Grosjean's airborne Lotus. Also, let's not forget that Felipe Massa went in a coma after being hit by a tiny spring from the car before him. A few centimetres lower, and it would have been fatal. It might be much safer, but the danger still persists. That said, I really hope that Schumacher pulls through. The fact that he got transported to the biggest hospital in the region along with a good number of medicinal specialists there might have ended up saving his life.
Seems like a very similar incident to Natasha Richardson, relatively slow speed collision, appeared fine at first only to slip into a coma later on. Hopefully does not end the same way.
i guess he should've been a helmmacher [editline]30th December 2013[/editline] No but seriously. This guy better not die. :( [editline]30th December 2013[/editline] I mean fucking everyone knows who Schumacher is.
fucking hell 2013 will be a real shitty year if schumacher passes away. Gute besserung
No no no god dammit no
Kind of ironic that he survived all the dangerous high-speed racing just to maybe die from skiing.
skiing can be dangerous. the chances of dying in an F1 race if you're a driver like schumacher are tiny
it looks like nobody even read the OP
Early reports had said his condition was not life-threatening.
unless they're reporting it differently now
it looks like nobody even read the OP unless they're reporting it differently now
Eh, maybe you should read the article a bit further. [editline]30th December 2013[/editline] "Early reports" is pretty significant.
they're really the only reports they've given though i mean at least other sources say they haven't really given any new info
they're really the only reports they've given though i mean at least other sources say they haven't really given any new info

"Mr Schumacher was admitted to the University Hospital of Grenoble at 12:40 [11:40 GMT], following a skiing accident which occurred in Meribel in the late morning," the Grenoble hospital said in a statement. "He suffered a severe head injury with coma on arrival, which required immediate neurosurgical intervention. He remains in a critical situation."
? [editline]30th December 2013[/editline] I might be wrong, but from the way the article is written it really seems this is something they got after "early reports".
Shit, I go to Courchevel almost every year and you can access the Meribel pistes from the summit if you have a pass, and the off-pistes for both valleys are usually pretty damn treacherous. I hope he's ok.
After racing on the track, you'd think the man would get the hint and not do anything involving anything Finns are good at, like F1 racing, or being in the snow.
I don't even watch F1 racing and I know who Michael Schumacher is. I don't know how. I hope he pulls through.
Can't believe he's in a coma, fucking shit
they're really the only reports they've given though i mean at least other sources say they haven't really given any new info
When the article says early reports and uses a past tense word like "had" implies that they aren't valid anymore.
Oh fuck no :c Hope he sees the light of 2014.
I mean fucking everyone knows who Schumacher is.
I don't and neither do about 4 billion other people. Thoughts and prayers to him and his family.
I don't even watch F1 racing and I know who Michael Schumacher is. I don't know how. I hope he pulls through.
He's kinda the legendary sportsman among racing drivers, much in the same way Tiger Woods is to golf and Michael Jordan is to basketball. Just iconic for the sport, really. He was the first athlete I was ever a fan of, really hope he makes it out okay.
