a human being killed another human being. No one wins. Zimmerman has to live with that, and Trayvon's family and friends have to live with that.
We weren't in the courtroom, and we didn't see the evidence. The Jury was secluded from any sort of sensational news, and if there was any suspicion they were compromised, they would have been replaced. The race of either person is completely irrelevant and bringing it up is assuming that everyone in the jury was a racist. That's a pretty bold and foolish thing to say.
We can't put people away simply because it sounds like they did something wrong. The court system isn't 100% perfect, people get put away for things they didn't do, and I imagine people walk when they actually did it. People who curse the justice system: what is your idea? How should it work? Should we decide it by twitter trends? #guilty and #notguilty? Listen to our gut?
my dad thinks the jury made the wrong decision. He probably only saw the news and didn't get his info from the fucking incredible site, facepunch.
No, "racist" is an adjective, which is a type of word used to describe a noun as possessing a certain trait, like "large" or "blue". If somebody is racist, calling them racist is apropos.
With negative connotations, that require evidence to prove otherwise it is libel. But then again evidence is your cryptonite.
Judging from the dumb rating you get I have evidence to suggest you are a dummy.
I posted a Facebook status about the case in an attempt to reason with friends on either aisle of the case.
I have made a huge mistake.

shit
I haven't followed anything about the zimmerman/trayvon shit since the actual shooting itself but last I saw FP was SO sure he was guilty, now he's innocent?
what happened? what did I miss that changed FP's views so dramatically on this subject?

This. The "ZIMMERMAN MUST BURN" brigade and the "JUSTICE WAS SERVED" squad are the most anti-intellectual things I've seen in a long time; to judge before knowing is among the most foolish things one can do. A tragedy happened regardless, and we would all do well to remember that.
Guys stop posting twitter screenshots you are being racist as fuck

I get all my news from FP and a little bit from Kotaku.
Racism still goes strong unfortunately. And sadly it does heavily effect the justice system. Another thread has links to another case where a woman was convicted for 20 years for firing warning shots. She was indeed black. Is that a case of racism? I don't know. But it's pretty fishy that someone who fired a warning shot got 20 years, while someone else who fired a shot that killed didn't get anything.
Why is micheal vick trending because of this? haha.

I haven't been following the case either, but supposedly every piece of evidence seen thus far has pointed to the fact that Zimmerman's claims of self defense were true.
Kind of a shame that even though he isn't being found guilty people are still going to try to get at him, hope he doesn't get hurt.

Michael Vick, a professional NFL player, got like 2-3 years in prison for dog fighting
Zimmerman got off for murder
You make the connection
Sickening behavior. This isn't about race. To be honest, if some dark figure was out on my property late at night, I'd probably have shot him a lot earlier than giving him the chance to beat the shit out of me.
If I feel like my life is in danger, it's them versus me and I always win in that scenario.

I dunno why you are generalizing Facepunch as an internet forum. Personally I saw it as a possible self-defense case right when I saw Zimmerman's injuries and his account of things.

There isn't one.
Most of the people blowing their tops or spiking the football on social media don't give two shits about Martin or Zimmerman. They just wanted desperately to be right.
Guys stop posting twitter screenshots you are being racist as fuck
Unfortunately the media made it white vs black people.

do you honestly not see the difference between the two cases?
There isn't one.
Vick is black
Zimmerman isn't
People are stupid
NAACP President Benjamin Todd Jealous:
“We are outraged and heartbroken over today’s verdict,” said Benjamin Todd Jealous, President and CEO of the NAACP. “We stand with Trayvon’s family and we are called to act. We will pursue civil rights charges with the Department of Justice, we will continue to fight for the removal of Stand Your Ground laws in every state, and we will not rest until racial profiling in all its forms is outlawed.”
Holy shit does anyone even actually know anything about the case
