Gaddafi isn't a human being. He's a monster and deserves to be treated as such. Some "people" honestly just need to die. I do agree that him being alive would've been much better, so we could learn more about his regime, then put him on trial and kill him, but I'm glad he was fucked either way.
Being a dick makes you no less human than the rest of us. Other than your emotional shit, he is factually a human being. Don't act like real people aren't capable of being awful. I would have preferred him to stay alive and serve the rest of his days in prison.
People who takes these moral high grounds and condemn these 'savages' for killing their torturer and executioner for 43 years when they don't even have proof of NTC executing Gadaffi is fucking funny. None of you guys even went anything remotely similar to what the Libyan people have, but I guess condemning freedom fighters over the internet in your air conditioned room is a lot easier than actually experiencing dictatorship.

Or just keep him in regular prison whatever

They can call them 'savages' that is 'no better' than a dictator that put thousands to death, but in the end, they're the ones living the privileged life while these guys fought for their freedom. And to say they're the same or brutal as Gadaffi is simply insulting, especially from a keyboard warrior.

It irritates me seeing so many people judge how they responded to finding him, especially seeing as NONE of us have a true perspective of what these people went through.
Haha, I was watching ABC24 and the news lady said "Gaddafi is dead and was shot an the head" and the first thing that came to my mind was "Hey! That rhymes!" I feel sort of bad now. He probably deserved it, but a death is still a death. [editline]21st October 2011[/editline] Also, I don't think they (the rebels) killed him on purpose. Why go though all the effort of taking Gaddafi and just kill him mid journey?

Gah, what's the most frustrating: American's are claiming credit for the killing of him, stating a Predator drone fired on the convoy. Why is it, that every fucking time a different country has something happen, America is standing right behind the country saying they were behind it the whole time? This is fucking embarrassing as an American. Sorry, we are NOT the world police, and need to stop acting like we're the puppet masters of the world. For example: Obama said that they are now working to establish a democratic government. Who the fuck are we to decide what kind of government other countries get to establish? Let the people decide what kind of government they want. What works for us might not work for others. While I have nothing against democracy, I strongly disagree with forcing it upon people who are in chaos right now. The battle between the rebels and the government is still going to go on for at least a year to come, so America needs to step the fuck back and let them deal with what they need to deal with.
I agree and disagree with this post. On one hand - yeah, most of us have no fucking idea what these people have gone through. We've got no comparable life experience. We can sit here all high and mighty watching from a distance and scold them, but really we have no right to do such a thing. And on the other hand, if they're looking to become a more fair society, even pave the way to a democracy comparable to that practiced by most of the 1st world, Western countries in the world... they should have looked past their own anger and hatred. They should have looked past their want to end the man who had caused them so much pain and loss. They should have given him a fair trial and not gone, "oh no, he's the exception to the rule!" or, "we'll start being fair AFTER this one man."
I think that first point is far more critical, especially given the circumstance of his capture. These weren't ordinary people capturing him, these were people who've had to mature far more than you ever will, have become intimate with death and see him ultimately responsible for that and the deaths of their comrades, for driving their country to this extreme. He was caught by soldiers not tempered by our training in rules of warfare and so on. Personally, I can understand someone not being able to resist shooting him. It's rough, but it's still justice. That's if he didn't die in the crossfire as they said. His convoy was hit by French Military Jets. Confirmed independently and by rebels on the ground.
Libya is now truly fucked, he would be so much more worth alive. Instead that had to rage kill him, it's beyond retarded. These people are no different compared to Gadaffi, put a good example for fuck sake.
Just fuck off, the Libyan rebels are in no way, shape or form like Gaddafi. Why is there so much leftist retardation when it comes to this conflict? BOO HOO GADDAFI SHOULD HAVE GOT A TRIAL THE REBELS ARE MONSTERS THE USA WANTS OIL LIBYA WASN'T WORTH IT BOO HOO It's like nobody gives a shit about the fact that the people of Libya overthrew 42 years of fucking dictatorship and now have freedom, even if it is post-conflict.

When Osama was killed a large proportion of the US population were partying in the streets, and I'm sure if they had access to his body they'd have been parading it around and taking photos like the Libyans are. Everything you just said about looking past anger and hatred could be applied to the US, and to be honest... The pain Osama inflicted on the US is a drop in the ocean compared to what Gaddafi done to the Libyans.
Civil war is going to break out, and it's going to be interesting how that is handled by the press as the new rebels can't be painted as Gaddafi loyalists. The issues involved in this are so grossly oversimplified it is despicable.
He had what he deserved.

Wait, why would there be a *new* civil war? Is the NTC not the recognized government by most parties in Libya?
Fuck them. Gaddafi was a great and brave man.
Fuck them. Gaddafi was a great and brave man.
are you serious
are you serious
Dead serious.

In all honesty, as much as he fucked up by shooting at civilians, Libya under Gaddafi's rule will probably be 10 times better than current Libya. Let's hope they Sharia Law get abolished and they don't turn into another "muslim shithole". I mean, education was completely free, healthcare was completely free, electric energy was free, for every newborn family gets 7,000$ , food price are incredibly cheap, he boosted up literacy rate in Libya, supplied them with water and so on. If that's life under dictatorship (where he doesn't really do anything to you) , then sign me up. Current Libya looks like it will just be used by NATO and US. Wasn't there incident where it leaked information that France would get like 30% of oil shares in Libya? [editline]21st October 2011[/editline] Not to mention that rebels shooting Gaddafi was probably dumbest thing ever and that it just makes them look as bad as Gaddafi.

Am I the only thinking that it's a double? Seriously, Saddam cultivated them, so why wouldn't Gaddafi? Did they do DNA tests to confirm it's the real deal and not a decoy?
