So you think it's just fine and not barbaric at all?
I'm not necessarily saying they should have killed him, a trial as always would be much better, however I am not going to pass judgement on the rebels for doing so considering how badly he treated them all, who knows how many loved ones they've lost because of him.
Turns out his son Mutasim is dead too
Why do you go by CBC? CBC has no Libyan correspondents because they're a stupid news broadcaster like all other Canadian news outlets its repackaged British or American news.
Because CNN totally has a radio frequency my alarm clock can tune to, same with CTV.
It's still terrible, that he will never be brought to trial, that he will never be held accountable for his actions.
And his only punishment? Dying on the ground in agony for some mere minutes before his vision faded to black.
A lifetime of inflicting pain, for minutes of suffering.
Sometimes, the world just sucks.
Due process on people like this is also a MASSIVE waste of time and money. See the trial of Saddam Hussein for reference, 2 years of bullshit which eventually ended in his execution anyway. The only other option would be to just torture the fucker for a few weeks until he died but that would cause a huge fuss also. So really this is the best outcome.
Edit:
Not sure on the validity of the source but the trial of Saddam cost $75,000,000 of US tax payer money. Would any country really want a repeat of that bullshit?
Yes, he was a monster, but really, shooting him for the sake of revenge then parading him around makes them just as bad.
Yeah you're an idiot
P sure I'd shoot somebody who enslaved me for 42 years

yeah who needs due process
not like this could have a run-on effect for soldiers and government ministers

Saddam was captured by US forces and thus it would have made the US army look awful if they had just killed him.
lets celebrate the death of a man yay!!
Yeah you're an idiot

They shot him and then dragged his body around.
Yes, that seems rather barbaric to me.
lets celebrate the death of a man yay!!
You haven't spent your life being treated like shit by said man, you have no right to judge the Libyan people.
Saddam was captured by US forces and thus it would have made the US army look awful if they had just killed him.
Of course, I was just using him as an example of how trying to go trough the courts with these people works out worse off for almost everyone.
Turns out his son Mutasim is dead too
Did the son have a role in this?
Of course, I was just using him as an example of how trying to go trough the courts with these people works out worse off for almost everyone.
Trial is almost always the better route, especially in the case of Saddam considering the war against him was illegal.
Yes, he was a monster, but really, shooting him for the sake of revenge then parading him around makes them just as bad.
I really don't understand the reasoning behind comments like this...
It might be cruel of the rebels to kill him outright and then parade around out of sheer revenge, acting animalistic, but their motives were on a wholly different level from Gaddafi.
They've been fighting for the people. They ARE the people. They have all the reason to do it after so long, no matter how much the western countries frown on it. It's a tough world and sometimes emotions take it's toll.
We should be glad he didn't have the chance to simply escape to some nice country to live off the huge deposit account, filled with bloody money, sipping martinis in a villa for the rest of his life.
Should have been left alive... he died unpunished.

The whole video!
Reuters quotes an NTC official saying Saif al-Islam Gaddafi is fleeing Sirte in a convoy with NTC in pursuit
Now Saif al-Islam is surrounded apparently
wait now it's saying he's just fleeing
lol at the privileged white folks condemning an oppressed society for celebrating an end of a dictator that fucked them over for decades
Something tells me this is way too 'convenient'.
I don't mind him being killed, but dragging his corpse through the streets? I think that's a bit too far.

Wow, something's wrong with me. I second I read that, the Benny Hill theme started playing in my head.
tropico 4 needs a Gaddafi DLC
Because CNN totally has a radio frequency my alarm clock can tune to, same with CTV.
I have a satellite radio w/ alarm built in. I guess we can't all have nice things.
So I wonder how he got wounded in both legs. Shot perhaps? XD
ohshit, late reading for me. Didn't realize he was dead. :O
Damn, there goes another one.
So I wonder how he got wounded in both legs. Shot perhaps? XD
The former dictator reportedly died from wounds in his head and legs. It was unclear whether he was hit in a Nato air strike on a convoy fleeing Sirte, a firefight on the ground, or in concrete tunnels in the town itself.

Swedish Media is saying that he is dead as well now. But who knows.
Hell yes. And about time too.
It seems that the body has been seen in multiple areas of Sirte so presumably it's being paraded around.
Also the videos seem to be taken on the roof of a moving car.
It seems that the body has been seen in multiple areas of Sirte so presumably it's being paraded around.
it's not just parading a corpse around, it's showing an oppressed and tortured people that was screwed over for 43 year olds closure by proving that it's dictator that ruled with an iron fist was finally dead and the people was finally free from his reign.
