it's not just parading a corpse around, it's showing an oppressed and tortured people that was screwed over for 43 year olds closure by proving that it's dictator that ruled with an iron fist was finally dead and the people was finally free from his reign.
I dunno, all of this has me very worried, along with the fact that there has already been trouble within the NTC itself, including arguments between the leaders of the NTC and hard-liner Islamic factions.
I wonder when gaddafi's possessions will start to show up on Ebay.
I'm worried as well... An uncanny feeling of, "We'll see" is all over this right now.
About fucking time.
Well, at least now that's over. Not exactly tasteful to parade around with his body, but I can't say I have any sympathy for the dignity of a man responsible for firing anti-aircraft guns into masses of protesters.
Shame he didn't live to be tried, convicted and spend the rest of his life in a small cell. Death is almost a blessing for him. At least it's over with.

If history has taught us anything it's that Islamic states tend to be filled with conflict/fill the surrounding countries with conflict. I mean look at what happened in Egypt lately! Muslims and Christians had been so good and kind to each other during the ousting of Mubarack - they had worked together, fed one another, given one another medical care, and tents to sleep in - out of conflict and a common enemy the most unlikely of brothers were formed. And now they're back to fucking fighting again. It's fucking saddening.
*sigh* This is going to end so poorly. People who scream Allāhu Akbar at a victory are hardcore Muslims. They do not tend to produce happy nations.
Well he's dead. Time to bring in the next evil dictator.

It's not always a bad thing (although it is heavily associated with extremists unfortunately).

It doesn't say to murder them either, but you can't be friends. And we are surprised every time one of our so-called Muslim allies stabs us in the back. Guarantee you look just as crazy.
oh joy, the dictator we once had a good business relationship with despite his cruelty to his people is probably dead happy happy joy joy happy happy joy
I'm worried as well... An uncanny feeling of, "We'll see" is all over this right now.
Indeed. Gadaffi himself overthrew the old kind and claimed that he was going to form a democratic society. People supported him for that. We have today witnessed how that went. . . I'm really really hoping that it won't turn out to be the old Libya, but with just a different leader.

Nooooo. Can't be friends. http://www.cmje.org/religious-texts/quran/verses/005-qmt.php#005.051

There are unconfirmed reports that Saif Al-Islam was captured and is injured.
I feel like 9 out of 10 times the old regime is just replaced with an equally terrible one.
Hopefully that isn't the case. The nice thing about a new regime coming in is there's a chance at it not being tyrannical. Anyways, I found this on canv.as and have to say it's a pretty good likeness of Gaddafi in his last year or so.
Great he's dead indeed. Though we'll never know what he all has done in his life.
ah I said like a month ago that if the rebels caught him they'd do a Mussolini on him.
Only in this day and age can you get a photo/video of an evil dictator within hours of them being captured by their rebelling people. <3 Technology.
Broadcaster Al Jazeera tweets: Al Jazeera is receiving unconfirmed reports that Saif al-Islam, Muammar #Gaddafi's son, has been arrested http://aje.me
WTH happened to him that he looks so fucked up? Did everyone just throw WP grenades at him? Whatever, he's dead.
where's his army of sexy bodyguards
where's his army of sexy bodyguards
Probably dead too.
Great, we supported a regime that murdered a man in cold blood without so much as a trial. What on Earth were we even doing in Libya?
It was foolish to kill him on the spot because he was let off with no punishment (other than fear/having to flee his country). It's not like there is any evidence that he's going to be burning in a pit for eternity as punishment (as they might have believed) and they blew their chance to hold him accountable for his actions here on earth. They've shown themselves to be no less brutal than he was by killing him as he apparently tried to surrender.
Any sources for the claims of the rebels killing him on the spot? The Guardian disagrees with that assessment.
