I see eidos are preparing for a McDonalds DLC mission
What? Attacked for wearing them? This, and that thread about the family that was saved from drowning, only to let their savior drown in return, have filled my mind with fuck.
When I saw this on reddit, there was speculation that the McDonalds was doing some laundering or some shit like that, and were worried he was recording it or would incriminate them. Regardless of the cause, this is disgusting. The attacker needs to be prosecuted and the department sued for not pursuing this. It's blatant assault.
They tore up his documentation explaining it as well. Grade A ass hats.

[editline]17th July 2012[/editline] I mean, he has photographic proof that he was physically assaulted and still nobody will take the case? [editline]17th July 2012[/editline] I'm sorry, I shouldn't say "refusal", we don't know that. The article only says that the French Authorities never contacted him back.
Fucking Humanity Front
Why do I get the odd feeling that we're missing something important?
I don't understand why they attacked him, to them he just had some weird glasses on?
I don't understand why they attacked him, to them he just had some weird glasses on?
I wore NVGs into a McDonald's once. They looked at me weird.
I wore NVGs into a McDonald's once. They looked at me weird.
They didn't even ask him to stop recording, or leave, they just attacked him :suicide:
what a shame
They fucked with the wrong guy.
“I’m not seeking to be awarded money. I just want my Glass fixed,” said Steve. Paris police and McDonald’s were unresponsive, he said.
Parisian police are not somebody you want to call to help you. They aggressively hit witnesses when they don't reply, and try to avoid doing their job as often as possible. I know that doesn't apply to all of them, and I'll admit I have a strong distrust of the French authorities. My uncle was jumped by two French officers when he was on his way to his hotel last time we were there. To this day, he still can't raise his right arm more than shoulder height. When you're a pilot, that kind of kills your job opportunities. /rant
Judging from the article, an employee asked about those glasses then when they figured out what it was, they tried to rob him. Hence, the way one of them tried to pull off the glasses first.
Yeah, but robbing him in public? The pictures he supplied show quite a crowd. [editline]17th July 2012[/editline] But then again, the Police didn't do anything about it, either. Though that's me beginning to be a paranoid fuck again. This story really perturbs me, and not just because of the crime that was committed. I'm gonna follow it closely.
I think viewing the full footage would be interesting; although he'd probably protect the identities of the employees for his own sake.
If you read more on the article, it talks about another lady getting assaulted for taking a photograph of the French Mcdonald's menu with her camera, even though many people can only read it with a zoomed photo. Something seems very suspicious about this, I wouldn't be surprised if laundering as involved. To me, although I could be entirely wrong, it seemed like the first employee who stopped Mann scoped him out to ensure he wasn't recording whatever was happening over there, likely criminal. Then he went off to tell his possible accomplices, after reading Mann's documentation, that his glasses contained a camera. This would explain the sudden assault on him by the guy who wanted to take his eye glass off, and why he was brought to to another seemingly random dude and the Mcdonalds employee. Giving them his documentation wasn't a smart move, in hindsight, as that would likely make them even more suspicious that he was a government official. The only part that does not make sense to me is why they would risk attacking him, if they knew/thought he was recording. The lack of solid details, despite the thorough explanation of the events that led up to the incident, is sketchy enough to say that I don't think we quite know all that occurred in that restaurant and that some very key details are being withheld for whatever reasons, probably to ensure sufficient prosecution in the future.
They cannot stop the future.

Because if it isn't, and this theory was right, we're looking at some bizarre city-wide McDonald's crime syndicate. Which seems too far-fetched to be probable.
I cringed at the fact they tried to pull it off his head while it was attached to his skull.
I cringed at the fact they tried to pull it off his head while it was attached to his skull.
I wonder how this would have played out if he was more seriously injured.
I wore NVGs into a McDonald's once. They looked at me weird.
me and a friend wore horse masks into burger king. They looked very confused, but nobody attacked us :v:
Maybe it's just because France is fabulous or something, but in my country McDonalds employees don't look that fit.
thinking on it, I'm not entirely sure that he was attacked because of his glass. if it had a camera in it, maybe there was something the employees didn't want him to see that he didn't notice before he was attacked. that still doesn't explain why the police were so obstructive, but maybe they're just generally incompetent and annoying. still though, we can't rule out anything so soon. hopefully the smarter police officers will be able to look into it.

At least, I'd hope that thought has crossed his mind at least once.
me and a friend wore horse masks into burger king. They looked very confused, but nobody attacked us :v:
You shouldn't wear things that obscure your face into businesses because they could think you are robbing them.
He never said the police were obstructive, he only stated that they never responded to the crime he was a victim of.
I know, it just annoys the fuck out of me when I overuse a word, in this case "unresponsive".
